Looking for a Sea Salt Hand Scrub

Basin White Satsuma Shea Sea Salt Scrub

I recently tried a sample of Basin White’s sea salt scrub, and found the product to be pretty decent. But at $35 a canister, it’s priced a bit high to be used as an industrial hand cleanser. Plus it has oils and fragrances making it a bit too hoity toity for shop use. Even so, the sea salt felt quite a bit gentler than most pumice-based cleaners that I’ve tried.

So, before I spend an inordinate amount of time searching, I was wondering if anyone knows of a good shop/industrial sea salt hand cleaner.

Don’t laugh, but I did buy a canister of the Basin White scrub. If anything, I’ll use sparingly it as an end-of-day scrub to help condition my hands against the frequent pumice and degreasing soaps I use during the day.

I’m wondering what you need this for – to degrease? take off paint? Let me know, going to see what’s around and also I’m curious how toxic these cleaners can be.

Yes, I’m sure baby seals make for very gentle suds. Monster.

Tammy, I generally use these types of cleaners for removing grease and oils when I know ordinary soap or even dish soap won’t work quickly or easily. Pumice based cleaners aren’t at all toxic, with several brands’ offerings made from natural materials.

While Gojo and Fast Orange suit my needs, I’m tired of the citrus smell. I have a cherry-scented cleaner in an unopened box somewhere that I’m looking forward to trying.

But, having tried the sea salt scrub, I may have liked it better than the many pumice hand scrubs I’ve tried. But it’s designed more as a beauty scrub than an industrial tough grime scrub.

The pumice in these types of soaps and cleaners can help remove paint, but I’ve never tried it out.

Sam, thanks for catching the typo, it has been fixed! For the record, I would never use seal soap. Maybe sea lions…

When you’re done cleaning, Try O’keeffe’s working hands cream. Good stuff, helps with some of the splits that I used to get at my finger tips. (I’m fighting the urge to make a “of Mice and Men” reference to wearing a glove here.)

Thanks, Joe! I actually have a small container of O’Kkeeffe’s cream sitting next to me that I have yet to open. I ordered it about a month ago but forgot all about it after it got buried under paperwork.

I’m not sure I’ll use the two types of products together, but it might be worth a try.
