Bosch Screwdriver Bits at Lowes October 2019

Yesterday we wrote about how Lowe’s is clearing Bosch screwdriver bits out of some if not all of their stores.

We don’t know why or what would come next, this was just an observation.

In the afternoon, Katie left a comment with information we believe to be highly credible:

It’s not going away!! Lowe’s is moving Bosch double-ended screwdriving bits to single-ended bits and expanding head type coverage. Your store should be reset in the next few weeks!

So, there you have it. Lowe’s is moving to a wider selection of Bosch single-ended screwdriver bits and expanding head type coverage. Translation: they’re stocking a different form factor of screwdriver bit style and with greater size and style selection.

In other words, good news, or at least I think so. I’ll check back in a few weeks to see how things change after a display reset.

Thank you Katie for your insights!

We have also now heard deom Bosch via social media:

Hey! We are making way for wider array of head types at your local Lowes. We always recommend stocking up on your favorites but we think you’ll have some new favorites soon!

*Thumbs up!*

Well that’s good to be fair I was starting to get worried. I keep seeing alot of bosch on the clearance racks for the last few months.

I actually prefer double sided bits, darn. Especially if they’re two different sizes on one bit.

Single sided bits are just fine, but a good double sided bits will handle 90% of around the house work. And if it’s good quality, it’s the type that won’t smear the metal or strip the screw head.

Makita’s aren’t readily available in brick and mortar, but they make some great 2-ended combos They’re also on sale at amazon right now…I just finished stocking up on some.

I tried a couple of 6″ double-ended Bosch, and they didn’t fit my DeWalt impact driver. First and every time I trued to drive a screw, they cammed in so tightly they almost ruined my chuck. I cut 1 end off each of them, and ground a groove to match my other bits. Now they fit.

Well that’s good. Bosch & Craftsman are still my two favorite brands.

Bosch needs to expand their tools to more than just bits and even with these double end bits they’re not gonna sell very well. Lowes or Bosch needs to drop the price for the bits if they expect them to sell. And being that the kobalt, Dewalt, and craftsman bits are all cheaper than Bosch, the Bosch bits ain’t selling. And I already know that the bits are gonna be the same on both ends which would make them absolutely pointless to own. If they were to make a torx/philips or something like square/torx then maybe it would be worth a try. I could’ve used one today. I said to myself the companies that make these things obviously don’t know shit about remodeling work cuz if they did they would have enough sense to make a double ended bit for different screws that can fit a 6″ sleeved bit holder for remodeling situations. I don’t see Bosch doing anything to make it easier for those working in such instances. What’s the point of Bosch making double end bits if you still have to hold the screw while starting it to drive it in. They might want to make a bit holder that’s actually useful instead of double ended bits. The best part is that Bosch doesn’t even include a bit holder with their own set of bits. Great thinking Bosch. Yeah, they suck.

Let’s say you have a double-ended bit with Torx on one side and Phillips on the other. But you go through Phillips bits twice as often…

I don’t know what you’re talking about, I have purchased Bosch bit holders separately, and also as part of bit sets. If there’s one SKU that doesn’t come with a bit holder, buy a different set.

I have also been looking unsuccessfully combi bits, torx 25/robby 2 as well as robby 1/2 size together. Bosch makes a Philips Robertson (P2R2) combo bit. The same tip works on both screw heads. It is very convenient but can be damaged easily compared to a basic size 2 robby.
