Lowe’s is advertising a Kobalt “tool storage suitcase with 24V starter kit,” and it looks like a decent deal, priced at $79 with free shipping.
Looking through some of the reviews online, customers are having problems getting stores to honor the deal price, and so you might want to order this one online for shipping or in-store pickup.
It comes with a Kobalt CaseStack tool box, 2Ah battery, 4Ah battery, and 85W charger.

Here’s what Lowe’s says about it:
The perfect Kobalt Starter Kit to get your Kobalt 24-volt max bare tools started. The possibilities are endless!
The starter kit includes a 2.0Ah battery, a 4.0Ah battery, an 85-Watt charger, and a CASESTACK small storage box.
All will provide you with enough power to keep your tools working all day, and have a convenient storage box to keep them in.
Price: $79 (thru March 27, 2025)
Would I buy into the Kobalt CaseStack modular tool box system? No. But $79 for a starter kit with 2 batteries, charger, and tool box seems decent.

I’m sorry, it’s not a tool box, it’s a “tool storage suitcase.”
Interestingly, one of the January 2025 reviews, tagged as being from a Lowe’s employee, complains about the lack of accessory compatibility, saying:
So I went to get the accessories for them. And NOTHING. They are already discontinued. You can’t get them anywhere. And it appears that They have moved on to a new similar type of toolbox.
I haven’t heard about this, but it’s something to be aware of.
Also, Lowe’s says that the 4Ah battery delivers “50% more runtime compared to the 24V Max 2Ah battery” that’s also included in the kit.
Frankly, I’m really wondering if Lowe’s replaced their entire Kobalt marketing team with AI bots.
4Ah batteries are supposed to deliver 100% longer runtime compared to 2Ah batteries, seeing as how a 4Ah battery has double the charge capacity of a 2Ah battery.
A 3Ah battery would have 50% more runtime compared to a 2Ah battery. Or, a 2Ah battery is expected to have 50% less runtime than a 4Ah battery.

The kit is advertised as having an 85W charger. From a line buried in the online product page, it says:
The 45-Watt charger will fully charge the 2.0Ah battery in 50-mins and the 4.0Ah battery in 90-mins
50 mins for the 2Ah battery and 90 for the 4Ah seem decent. I’m guessing that the “45W” mention is a mistake.

Lowe’s also has this “mini starter kit,” featuring a 2Ah battery and 45W charger. According to the specs, the 45W charger will recharge the included 2Ah battery in about 85 minutes.
They say that this set comes with:
Everything you need to keep your Kobalt 24-volt power tools running through any project.
“Any project?”
Price: $40, ends March 12, 2025

Lastly, I came upon this Kobalt XTR cordless drill kit, and feel it’s an exceptionally good value.
$99 gets you the brushless drill, an “Ultimate Output” 4Ah battery, and maybe the same 45W charger as the starter kit. From the product specs, the battery recharges in 165 minutes.
The drill features anti-kickback tech and delivers up to 1200 in-lbs max torque.
Price: $99 (ends April 16, 2025)
Lowe’s is selling a kit featuring the similar Kobalt XTR hammer drill for $229.

Lowe’s says it’s rechargeable and includes a graphic showing a USB plug, but as far as I can tell there’s no USB charging feature.

When I first read the headline I thought this was to jump start cars. Power of preconceived notions.

“Cordless Power Tool Battery and Charger Starter Kit” seemed too wordy. Hopefully the thumbnail image cleared things up for you quickly.

Same for me. Wouldn’t it be great if each tool manufacturer offered a way to connect a couple power tool batteries to an adapter and use it as an emergency jump starter?
Cody
Dewalt has a 20 volt battery jump starter

I’m pretty sure this same battery kit was offered for $79 to $99 throughout the year end deal season of 2024, but it also came with your choice of a “free” 24V tool. The current offering is kind of weak in comparison, but still a great deal compared to battery/charger prices for top brands like Milwaukee.
Stuart
It was $129. https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/lowes-black-friday-tool-deals-2024/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E

It went down to $99 several times. I chose the right angle impact as my tool on this deal. I also bought the LED light for $29 on sale.
Ken
Yeah, the price kept going down. They must have had a lot of stock to get rid of. It went to $99, $89, and even $79. Slickdeals has lots of posts about it.

I got 2 of these at 99 orr 79 with a free tool each. I got the right angle impact which I’ve used and like. Can’t remember the other tool. Years ago I got a kobalt 24v impact and recip saw with a couple smaller batteries.
It’s like a 3rd or 4th level platform for me. There was a heavily discounted 4 tool kit In store for like 120. I considered getting to sell off all my extra/duplicate stuff as a reasonable kit.

It was definitely offered multiple times for $79 and $99 with the free tool over the holidays, but the price flucated. It’s honestly still a very good deal at $79, but after having the outstanding deal w/ free tool, it makes even this good deal seem just mediocre. I guess that’s the downside to companies having too great of sales.
Stuart
That’s possible/probable – a lot of deals get discounted towards the end of the holiday season to clear them out. But for BF, it was $129.
This deal’s interesting – and with frustrating marketing choices and errors.
The question is whether the deals will get any better until next October when the 2025 holiday deals emerge. These still seemed worth sharing about, especially the XTR drill kit.

I don’t know what to think when I see ad copy with egregious errors like this. It’s like a simulacrum of how a company would operate. Companies just don’t seem to care at all about the quality of anything they produce these days.

I bought 2 of them for $99 with free tool around Christmas. The cases seem nice. They include a sheet with a list of accessories. When I went online to look for them, they were all discontinued. Hopefully the free tool deal comes back. It makes it difficult to justify spending almost anything on tools when they have a deal like this.

What accessories go with batteries and a charger? Does that mean the actual tools?
Rzorrok
Accessories for the case. Like dividers or clips for hanging stuff on the outside.
ElectroAtletico
A plastic mold case, a charger, and a couple of batteries. Imma gonna file this under the “MEH” category.
