Lowe’s has launched their Holiday 2024 tool deals and gift centers, online and in stores.
Many of these deals will be available throughout the holiday season, and are likely to be featured in Lowe’s Black Friday sales flyer.
I’m sure there will be more special buys and doorbusters, there always are, but the newly launched promos will be the bulk of it.

We’ve already started posting about the more better and compelling tool deals, and there’s lots more coverage to come.
In this post, let’s talk about the winners and losers – the tool brands that seem to have won more attention and floor space from Lowe’s, and the ones that haven’t.

Craftsman – As usual, there are plenty of Craftsman tools – everyday general purpose DIY and construction tools, mechanics tools, and cordless power tool kits and combos.
This year, Craftsman’s top-tier V-Series appearance made an appearance with incredibly low prices.

Kobalt – Lowe’s house brand has many entry priced hand tools and sets on display, and also some cordless offerings.
In addition to the new camo-style mini tool box colors introduced online, and bottom-style chests, my local stores all received new lavender and hot pink colors.

These boxes are definitely going to be sought after, and will help make Lowe’s a family shopping destination over the holiday season.

Klein – It has become clear why Klein partnered with Lowe’s – the retailer gave the iconic hand tool brand far greater floor space and visibility outside of the electrical tool aisle than they ever enjoyed at Home Depot.

The Klein ModBox modular tool box system was on full display in the gift center this year.

Dewalt – The bulk of Dewalt deals, including cordless power tools, table saws and miter saws, and power tool accessories, were located in the “PRO” sections at the two stores I visited.

OX – Ox Tools had a single display, with both sides featuring the same marker and pencil value packs.

Flex – There weren’t any Flex cordless power tool deals, and their Stack Pack tool box system display consisted of 3pc combos at $249.

Skil – There were a few Skil deals, with the cordless power tool promos centered around 12V Max tools and accessories.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Skil 10-tool combo kit like this before. It remains to be seen whether there’s interest or demand for $300 12V combo kits.

ToughBuilt – There were no ToughBuilt promos at all – no hand tools of any kind, and no display of StackTech tool boxes.
Lowe’s raised the pricing of ToughBuilt StackTech tool boxes very early this year. Despite strong consumer interest, it’s going to be very difficult for ToughBuilt to compete against other brands’ holiday savings and deals.
Maybe we’ll see some ToughBuilt holiday deals later in the season, but where are they going to go?
Lowe’s had a lot of leftover modular tool boxes on the shelves in December last year, and it sems they dialed back on the promos this year to avoid a repeat of that.

In no uncertain terms, this is not good for ToughBuilt, which is – as per their recent social media posts – “pushing hard to have retail deals in place.”
Crescent – Neither of the stores I visited had any Crescent hand tool or power tool deals. The brand was simply not a part of this year’s gift center, at least not yet.
Lufkin – I expected to see tape measure promos from this Crescent-adjacent tool brand, and was surprised at their absence too.
Irwin – My store had a display with Irwin Quick-Lift construction jacks, but it looked to have been the same one I spotted during a previous visit.
Lenox – Lowe’s used to have a couple of Lenox tools and power tool accessories featured in the gift center, but that hasn’t been the case for a while.
Wiha – Wiha never really had holiday deals, but they did have Pro gift idea floor displays in recent years.
Bosch – I found some Bosch power tool accessories at both Lowe’s stores, but no cordless power tool promos.
Metabo HPT – I’m not sure if a single endcap in the regular tool section counts.

Spyder – I never really pay attention to this brand of power tool accessories, but with displays this large and colorful, they don’t really give you much of a choice.
2024 Lowe’s Deal Center Winners
Klein stands out as the biggest winner, with oodles of hand tools and general tool-related products and accessories. It appears the brand is seeking to capture greater market share beyond electricians and similar industry pros, and with Lowe’s help I’d say it’s working.
Dewalt, Craftsman, and Kobalt deals are plentiful and highly visible, and some of them are quite good bargains too.
I would say that Klein, Kobalt, Craftsman, and maybe Spyder are the biggest winners, with the best visibility and allocation of floor and shelf space.
2024 Lowe’s Deal Center Losers
There’s a noticeable absence of ToughBuilt products, and Flex seems to have been left out of the holiday deals section for another year.
At least last year there was a greater Flex Stack Pack presence. A couple of Flex 3pc combo stacks in the bottom corner of the gift center wall doesn’t instill much confidence.
I had hoped to see some more deals from Ox Tools, but I suppose a single double-sided display with markers and pencils is better than nothing.
Where’s Crescent? Lufkin? SBD’s Irwin and Lenox brands Wiha?
It looks like SK Tools gave up on trying to get into Lowe’s stores. There are some Pony clamps on display, but I wasn’t impressed.
Thus, it looks like Flex and ToughBuilt are the biggest losers here, with a bunch of other brands also missing out on time in the spotlight.
Undecided
It looked to me that Skil had greater visibility than in previous years, but I think the selection is a bit too bland and uncompelling.
Bosch had presence, but nothing exciting, just the same okay-value power tool accessory sets as in previous years.
While there were a lot of Dewalt deals, I feel that had more and better promos last year. I also don’t think it was a good idea for all of the Dewalt promos to be shoved into locked cages in the Pro corner of the store. I feel that the “rip a ticket and collect your tool at/after checkout” anti-theft measure was less unfriendly.
Overall, I feel that Lowe’s holiday deals seem more DIY in nature, whereas Home Depot’s focus more on Pros and demanding DIYers and hobbyists, with Husky and Ryobi deals also suited the needs of beginners and homeowners. Even so, there are plenty of exciting promos at Lowe’s, just not as many and one had to look deeper to find them.

Thanks for the post Stuart! Seems pretty lackluster.
Stuart
There are some good deals, but as usual I think Home Depot’s setup has a more compelling selection.

Way too early to be judged with accuracy.

Spyder hole saw bits are amazing. Best in the business. Worth every penny. I have drilled countless 4 1/4 holes through brick for exhaust fans and they plow through.
I also would like to see more OX they make a quality product. Love their pencils.

I see a Dewalt battery in the Dewalt photo for $39. Im in the market for a 2nd Dewalt battery, but do not see any that low on their website. Any idea why it might not be up yet?
Stuart
Home Depot has similar. Lowe’s is showing the proper price but is out of stock online.
Dewalt 20V Max 3Ah for $39
Dewalt 20V Max 4Ah (compact) for $59
Depends on what you need it for. Handheld tool use? I’d go with the compact 4Ah? Low power flashlight or radio? Maybe the 3Ah.
The 3Ah deal is around $13 per amp-hour, while the 4Ah deal is around $15 per amp-hour.
Evan
Thank you! I picked up the 4ah compact, need a second battery to support the 1.5ah that came in my OMT kit I bought last year – which I also found through you! Thank you!
Big Richard
Farm and Fleet has the 4pk of 3Ah for $129, one of the better deals I’ve seen thus far.

Evan
Update to above: I just found the DCB240 4ah Dewalt battery at Home Depot for $59 with free shipping. Seems like a steal from what I can tell on the typical battery prices. Might return it if the $39 deal is better but I ordered it just so I do not miss out.

Kobalt has a 2 peice mini pliers set with clone Cobra’s and pliers wrench for $15, and they have dipped handles not the fat comfort grips. I bought a set to check them out and I’m pretty impressed for the price. Definitely no knipex but I don’t think you can go wrong with this set for $15. Even if someone wanted to try out a pliers wrench style tool but didn’t want to spend a lot this would be a great way. Hopefully they stick around after the holidays.
Sierra
Thanks for the heads-up on this set!

I agree – they are surprisingly good for the price. The Cobra clone is small (5″) and the pliers wrench is very usable (6″). I much prefer the dipped handles. The jaws are nice and thin (7mm) and have good alignment.
Stuart
Yep – I ordered a set online as well. I saw these in store but mistook it for just another basic 2pc pliers set. Looks interesting, especially for the price.

Let’s all hold a minute of silence four Toughbuilt – stabbed in the back by Lowe’s. 😢

Not a seasonal deal, but the Xtreme hammer drill has been on clearance for$65 for a while now.

It’s a pretty competent hammer drill too, considering its specs and size. Just wish they’d put a 1/2″ chuck on it.

I’m absolutely not a fan of the new Craftsman, but I picked up a set of metric V Series reversible ratcheting wrenches, as well as a long set of metric flex head ratcheting wrenches. The reversible set was $30 and the long box end/ratcheting end flex heads were $50. I am astounded by how nice they are. Not just the fit and finish, but the ratcheting action, and a great case, if you’re into that sort of thing. The back drag on the reversible wrenches is very good, about on par with an old set of Blackhawk wrenches I’ve been using for about 15 years. Not too clicky, no crunch, I was genuinely shocked.
The flex heads are absurdly good. The back drag is barely noticeable, and the click so smooth I can barely believe I only paid $50 for them. Run and get them, asap. A comparable set from Icon costs around $225, and the Mountain branded set goes for about $150. I’d wager that these are better for a fraction of the price.
Conversely the V Series ratchets that are on sale felt awful to me. I picked up a few 1/4 and 3/8 models up, and the back drag was ridiculous. Like I could hold the anvil and turn it and there was so much resistance I could lift and spin the ratchet, meaning the weight of the ratchet itself wasn’t enough to overcome the strength of the back drag. I was so surprised I had to try a few. Every single one was awful. Maybe they wear in, maybe they weren’t lubed well at the factory, who knows. I wouldn’t waste my money on a single one though, even at $20. You’d be much better served with a Gearwrench 84 or even a Pittsburgh ratchet.
Johnez
This is an unbelievable deal in tools. What I’m seeing online is these prices are good till January 1. I cannot imagine blowout prices lasting this long, and sort of worried. $30 for 8 piece V-series ratcheting wrenches, just take my money. I should have bought the whole damn display.
MattT
My local Lowe’s stores are out of stock on several of the V-series tools already, with “search nearby stores” showing counts of 1 or 2 pieces still in stock. So, yeah, no way they’ll make it to Jan 1 unless they have warehouses full to keep restocking from. (And I’ll be checking periodically for a restock of the screwdriver set, just in case.)
Peter
Great list!
Does someone have a link to a Kobalt lavender mini tool box?
Thank you.

Ox tools pencil? I just realized that is like a squared-knockoff of Pica! Right? (only a few bucks cheaper than Pica).
Tdot77
Correct. There are a bunch of pica copycats out there now, especially on Amazon.
Lyle
Yeah there are lots of videos on YouTube comparing the various carpenter mechanical pencils. I personally went with one from Hultafors. They all seem to share the same size lead (2.8mm) although there is also a lot of comparison and preferences for the different manufacturers of lead. I’m happy with my Hultafors but also recently bought a 2 pack of Nicpro from Amazon with a bunch of leads for like $10. They work great just don’t have the little holsters which I don’t really need.
MattT
I live in a mid-sized city in Michigan and my local stores don’t have those holiday market displays set up yet (in fact, one of them never does). Being in a smaller market (that still somehow has two Lowes), it will be interesting to see what the holiday setup eventually looks like. (For tools anyway. I can buy all the artificial Christmas trees I want right now.)
The Spyder displays are pretty much just how they sell Spyder stuff all the time, I think they just switch out pricing signs.

“Lowe’s had a lot of leftover modular tool boxes on the shelves in December last year, and it sems they dialed back on the promos this year to avoid a repeat of that.”
I know what you mean, but maybe more accurately they cut back on inventory, and orders, *and* promotions. You can move lots of product at the right prices

Interesting note about Skil, I was at my local Fred Meyer (a Kroger brand super market+ other goods type store) and found a Skil Drill and battery for 60 bucks on an end cap along with some skill hand tools. The deals seemed unremarkable but I do not recall anything other than some Black & Decker tools ever at this location. Is their strategy to just be a quiet presence in multiple spaces (Lowe’s, Kroger, Amazon, etc…) to increase the convenience factor for their products?
Stuart
I really don’t know. Chervon financials showed a significant reduction in revenue from their largest customer – presumable Lowe’s.
We’ve already seen signs Chervon is trying to sell Skil wherever they can. e.g. modular tool boxes at Sam’s Club. https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/skil-modular-tool-boxes/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E
I don’t think it’s about convenience, but visibility and volume. They don’t seem to be doing well at Amazon or Lowe’s, and what other options do they have but to seek placement at supermarkets and wholesale clubs?
It could be a good strategy, because once customers start researching DIY and homeowner cordless power tool systems, they might be drawn more towards Ryobi or Craftsman, or maybe even brands like Worx.
Richard
Wiha and Knipex are absent from my Lowe’s. Is that the case everywhere?
Jeremiah McKenna
While it is still early, I still agree that FLEX has been stingy with their deals. Then again, Thursday tools suck, so the fact that the tool deals also suck isn’t surprising.
Jeremiah McKenna
Compared to Lowe’s, Home Depot is giving us a lot of specials and decent pre-sale deals. Then again that’s wjat we have come to expect from a store that doesn’t really care about anything other than vanity and “looking” like a construction worker Halloween costume.

In mid October I picked up a DeWalt angle grinder with a 5Ah battery and charger for $170 from Home Depot. I just needed the angle grinder for now, but am starting into the DeWalt tools. Currently have the Craftsman drill driver set, and I like the placement of the light on the drill much better than the DeWalt placement. If I do pick up their cordless drill it will be for daytime full light use, where the Craftsman is better for lower light applications in my opinion.
TonyT
I stopped by my local Lowe’s for about 15 minutes this morning to look at the special deals.
The most interesting item? The Klein Modbox rolling 2-drawer unit; I didn’t even know it existed.
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Klein-Tools-MODbox-TM-Rolling-Drawer-Box/5015316943
There was a huge Modbox display, with various other drawer units, etc. I looked online, and I also give Klein credit for selling replacement wheels and handles for the Modbox.
I saw a sea of red: Craftsman TradeStack and Versastak boxes, wrenches, tool sets, cordless tools, and more.
Unfortunately, I didn’t see any Craftsman V-series, although the workers were still putting out the displays, so I have a bit of hope… (and I did order the 4-ratchet set online).
There was a big display of DeWalt drill bits and such, and one end cap for Metabo HPT. I didn’t see any Bosch promos, but as noted not everything was out and I was in a hurry.
Matthew
If I was starting over for knock about the house tools that Skil 12V kit looks enticing.
