These Mechanix Original leather work gloves are on sale for just $12.37, a great price given their regular price of $19 to $25.
Amazon says “save 50%,” and Lowe’s, which has the same gloves on sale today only, says you save 40%.
Looking at its price history, these Mechanix work gloves seem to bounce between $19 and close to $25 at Amazon.

Amazon and Lowe’s both say the gloves “was $24.73.”
This is a Lowe’s deal of the day for 9/13/2022, ending at 3am ET 9/14. Amazon has the list price in their search results, and $12.37 live, suggesting they are just matching Lowe’s deal of the day pricing.
In other words, it seems fair to assume this is a deal of the day at both retailers.
Amazon has medium and large sizes at the sale price, and Lowe’s has all sizes on sale – small, medium, large, XL, 2XL.
That all said, should you buy them?
These are Mechanix Wear’s “Original” glove style, which is a basic everyday work glove. Compared to their other Original work gloves, this has a leather palm, rather than a synthetic material.

I am not convinced these will last longer than Mechanix’ Original gloves made with synthetic materials, and feel that the leather palm and finger material is more about feel and personal preference.
If you want more impact-resistant leather gloves, Mechanix has that too, but at a much higher price.
This seems like a great deal for brand-name leather work gloves. If you disagree, please recommend something better!

I’m a big fan of Mechanix gloves. They have sales frequently so I usually wait for them. There have been several reviews on Amazon stating that they were knock-offs. So I buy directly from Mechanix. The shipping is usually only about 3 bucks so worth it for my piece of mind.
Regarding these gloves… can you go wrong with leather palmed gloves for 13 bucks?

I usually get them from Lowe’s (near zero chance of counterfeiting) or Mechanix. Lowe’s often has good deals on Speedknits as well as the impact gloves. Also if you only need originals, branded ones can be had on sale… they’ve made Craftsman, Kobalt, Dewalt, S•K, and so on.

I recently ordered a couple of pairs of Mechanix work gloves from Amazon (direct and not 3rd party). One was delayed a bit and shipped in Mechanix packaging, suggesting to me that the two companies are working closely.
Certain SKUs are only sold directly by Amazon now, with no 3rd party listings.
I have also purchased Mechanix gloves from Zoro.
I tried to purchase gloves from Lowe’s, but they canceled my orders due to not being able to find them at the stores they were shipping from, or something to that effect.

Lowe’s has Extra-Large but you have to click the Show 2 More to see the XL and XXL sizes.

Lowe’s has them in XL. They now say “45% off”, which is probably rounded down to the next 5%. (Their tech people seem to be very conservative ever since the 2×4 lawsuit, which is too bad that they spend so much time on that instead of fixing their crappy site.)

The main problem with Mechanix original gloves is that the synthetic palm wears out (at the fingertips) in high-wear usage. Not that this is a big problem, as gloves should be treated as a consumable.
The genuine leather versions add a lot of life when subject to scuffing, but at the cost of dexterity and feel (both of which are huge benefits of the original’s synthetic material).
If you’re using them as mechanic’s gloves, the original synthetic is great in many situations. But in general construction, their longevity is often too short and the dexterity isn’t as beneficial. It’s good to have different tools to use the appropriate one for the job, and at the sale price, it makes it easier to have extras.

Totally agree, the fingertips are a weak point for hard use. For mechanic duty they are great but landscape/land clearing, not so much. It’s far from scientific but I go through a lot of gloves and it seems like since touchscreen compatibility has become a thing the durability has decreased. I always have a pair or two of these around for light duty but have found that the 3-pack of not-so-cool-looking Wells Lamont leather gloves from Costco last way longer than Mechanix.

“Genuine leather” is the particle board of leather. It can work but it won’t wear very well or very long.

I have several pairs of these – I have several because they wear out pretty quickly. The pigskin is very thin. They’re ok. Reasonably comfortable. They had a pair some years back that was available at Lowe’s, just an excellent pair of gloves with thicker leather, double layered tips, much nicer cuff, etc…they discontinued them and will not consider bringing that style back to market.
The Ranchworx/Cowboy glove models from Ironclad are quite a bit better.
All of these gloves go on fire sales from time to time. Pays to keep an eye out on Amazon and pick up some pairs when the price is too good to beat.
Current favorites are the 2956 from Caiman. They, too, dumbed down this glove from years past but only a little. The fingertip material is fantastic. Right now the Amazon price is actually excellent, too.

I’m so sick of synthetic leather on gloves. 20-25 years ago when Pittard’s (UK) introduced their version it was very, very good. Later I think it was Ironclad in the mid- to late-90s that…disrupted…the scene in the US with their work gloves, and the synthetic leather they used was not super comfortable but it was far and away more durable than what is being used today across many brands.
Wells Lamont and Youngstown also have some nice ones, usually for cheap.
