Milwaukee 2210-20 AA Lighting Tester

Milwaukee Tools is adding yet another new tool to their cordless testing and diagnostics lineup, a fluorescent bulb and ballast tester. We have heard a couple of rumors and leaks about the new tool in recent months, with those discussing it usually using words such as amazing, unbelievable and incredible.

The new lighting tester can check all types of T5, T8 and T12 fluorescent lamps, bulb pin connections, and is optimized for diagnosing T8 electronic ballasts.  The kit will come with an adapter, AA batteries, and carrying case.

Oh, wow. I am ABSOLUTELY getting one of these. Lighting is a huge part of what I do for a living, and in my workplace (a high-volume grocery store), we’re actually going to shortly be abandoning high-pressure sodium lights for new fluorescents in half our building (thus nearly quadrupling the number of fluorescent fixtures in our store). This gizmo WILL be a gamechanger for me! I wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve done the “Light’s out…grab a new lamp…ladder or scissor-lift my way up there…change the lamp…light’s still out…guess it’s a ballast” dance.

Not since the DeWalt compact router has the news of a new tool made me this excited!

I had no idea this thing existed. I’m going to have to get one.
