I just about to wrap up my deal post about the Makita 12V Max CXT drill and impact driver combo kit, when I remembered that a Milwaukee M12 combo kit, 2494-22, was going to be on sale for $99 starting on Thanksgiving.
Well, at least one retailer – Home Depot – went live with their deal a little earlier. Over at Home Depot today, and Acme Tool starting tomorrow, this Milwaukee compact cordless combo kit is on sale for $99.

- Drill (2407): 0-400/1500 RPM, 275 in-lbs max torque
- Impact (2462): 0-2500 RPM, 0-300 IPM, 1000 in-lbs max torque
- Kit comes with 2x 1.5Ah batteries, an M12 charger, and carrying bag
I think I like Makita’s tools a little better, as I’m more of a slender pistol grip cordless tool kind of guy. For that matter, I like Dewalt’s a lot too.
But as gateway into a compact cordless power tool platform, Milwaukee’s M12 lineup has a lot more expansion options. They offer a band saw, a brushless rotary hammer, a brushed motor rotary hammer, and well, lots more tools that nobody else comes close to offering.
You know what? I can’t decide which is better, between this kit and Makita’s. Both options offer very good tools, and both are available at a very appealing price.

I can tell you which way I’d lean: Makita if this was to be a standalone purchase, Milwaukee if there was a chance I’d want more 12V-class tools in the future. But this isn’t a rock-solid stance. Like I said, both brands’ tools are very good.
If you’re in the market for a new 12V cordless drill, impact driver, or combo kit, you’ve got a tough purchasing decision to make.

I don’t think we’re going to see any better drill and impact driver combo kit option for the holidays. There used to be very good holiday deals on Bosch 12V Max drill combos, but it looks like those days are in the past. I don’t think we’ve seen a good Bosch 12V Max promo combo around the holidays for a few years now.
Bosch’s 12V Max brushless drill kit is on sale for a very good price these days. Will their drill and impact driver (brushed motor) combo go on sale? I don’t think so, but I’ll keep an eye out for it.

was having an eye on it, bought one!

How do these compare to the Ridgid 12v combo? Same price, is having the LSA worth going orange?
Stuart
Ridgid combo gets you a high capacity battery and a compact battery, so you get slightly more for the money.
I’d still go Makita or Milwaukee.
Wayne
I always want to like the rigid combo but I feel like it’s not competitively priced for what it is.
Stuart
That Ridgid combo is a great deal. But, comparatively, the Milwaukee and Makita are better if you’re spending $99 anyway.
Wayne
Exactly… if the rigid kit was $79 or even $89 it might be worth it maybe.
Chris
The M12 batteries will power FAR more tools than the Ridgid 12V.
It would be nice (have been nice?) of Ridgid to expand their 12V offerings but they just dont seem to want to.
So if you are looking to use other 12V tools, you are better off choosing Milwaukee (or Makita, or maybe DeWalt [who also might have a limited 12V lineup]). Ive been remodelling my bathroom and I reach for the 12V Milwaukee FUEL stuff FAR more than anything else.

This kit works with the $150/$200 off Milwaukee promo if you buy it with a 18v kit.

M18 rocket LED w/ Starter Kit is also on sale early. $199, normally $249

That is a very good deal!
I was going to post about it when it was $249, but forgot. New deal post up:

I saw on Instagram an online tool seller with a 1/2″ square drive m12 fuel impact. I can’t for the life of me find anything online about it. Any knowledge or truth to this?
Blythe M
They had this deal a couple times for the past couple years that also included a bonus xc battery pack for the same $99.
This is still a good deal, but I’d be more excited for the fuel combo for 150
Pete
That was when i bought it as well- if it was the same deal i would 100% buy it.
I might pick this deal up just for the charger and batteries then craigslist the drill+impact.
I wonder if these batteries are the older 1.5ah or the newer 2.0ah.
fred
Maybe the same deal at International Tool:

Love the Milwaukee 12 volt line. I have the drill, multifunction tool, and hand vac . Plus a few extra high cap batteries. they are great for homeowners. I’d jump on this but don’t need a impact driver or another drill. Great time of year for tool nuts, like me.
Pete
What?!? I couldnt imagine NOT having an impact. Honestly id rather have a impact then a drill most all the time

Awesome review. I bought the Makita and am so happy I read your review first. The narrower grip is a big difference for me as I can see after long use it’d get tiring using the other brands.
I immediately tested that out at Home Depot and settled on the Makita! Used it once and am very pleased with the weight and grip.
I was initially looking for a smaller-looking battery pack like the Milwaukee of Bosch. Home Depot didn’t have the Bosch so went ahead and bought the Makita.

Looks like this kit is on sale again at ACME. However the torque seems lower than the bosch kit, which also has 2.0 Ah batteries.
