Milwaukee Metric Mechanics Tool Set with Packout Organizer Case

Home Depot kicked off new tool deals of the day for Memorial Day, 5/27/24.

One of the most notable is this Milwaukee metric mechanics tool set with Packout organizer case, on sale for $89.97 with free shipping.

This deal is notable for two reasons. First, the price is good. Second, it seems that the SAE set is more often discounted than the metric.

I bought a couple of Milwaukee mechanics tool sets a few years ago, and have been pleased with the quality. I went with the non-Packout versions, put the cases into storage, and plopped the trays into a tool box drawer. The Packout version features the same tools, but with a Packout-compatible organizer case.

The set comes with a 32pc tool kit, and low-profile Packout organizer case with drawer-friendly removable insert.

Home Depot has many more tool deals than this, today-only, featuring Milwaukee cordless power tools, mechanics tools, hand tools, and various offerings by Dewalt, Ridgid, and Ryobi.

The SAE set is also on sale for the same price, but seems to be out of stock.

This and the other tool deals of the day end at 3am EST 5/28/24 unless supplies sell out sooner.

I’d still love to know who actually makes them and how well the sockets fit compared to other well known socket and wrench makers

Price is reasonable when you consider getting an empty pack out box and putting say gear wrench equals in it or husky etc.

I am constantly using sockets from different manufacturers in this price range, specifically Gearwrench (Taiwan), Blackhawk (USA), Williams (Taiwan). I also have some from Gedore, and the budget Beta (Orange?). The quality of the Milwaukee socket is fine, for the price, in my opinion. Their hand-carry cases are REALLY well-designed. I’ve never warmed up to the square backside though. Ultimately, of readily available kits, my favorite is the Williams (Taiwan) kits in the blow-molded case, if there’s one that fits your needs.

Not sure who makes them but I like them a lot.

I haven’t had any issues with slipping.

These aren’t top of the line, but I feel they’re on-par or better for the price.

I believe INFAR is the manufacturer, but can’t confirm it.

My point was more Milwaukee doesn’t make them. But one day thy might.

Someone else does. Equivalent sets without a pack out box from someone else. Like grearerench cost less usually. Forget the special buy price MSRP on these sets is crazy.

But I’ve never seen one compared to another in terms of nut/head grip or ansi torque test. Etc.

I should also mention I won’t even consider a DeWalt branded hand tool set.

No, these aren’t made by Apex Tool Group.

I feel these are a step better than Gearwrench’s typical quality level.

The Milwaukee ratcheting wrenches finally went down in price. SAE & Metric 30 piece set $429.00 for the flex set. $369.00 for the regular ratcheting combination set.

This set? It’s included in the deal of the day, and so it presumably ends at 3am EST 5/28.

I liked that Milwaukee sockets feel heavier than others, which, in my mind, translates to quilty! And I love the square shape. It eases my mind when I use it during the job, and I don’t have to worry about it rolling away!

Yeah I never noticed that they were heavy, but they definitely feel like quality. I also like the square bits. I also throw mine in the (M12 – so low torque) impact fairly often and haven’t broken one yet, although I don’t recommend that.

I originally wanted the larger set that was both metric and standard, but when the larger set went on sale last year, it sold out and these were cheap enough that I couldn’t resist. I think I prefer the individual sets like this because they are easier to pack around because depending on the customer, typically only need one or the other. You can still throw both sets in the larger pack out organizer and a few of my electricians do this. If you don’t need the 1/4″ sockets, you aren’t really missing anything and you get an extra ratchet and extensions.

I wish they made a set that fit in the drawers.

      The trays fit in drawers.

If that’s your intent, do what I did – get the other sets, put the cases away (they’re actually nice), and put the trays in a shallow drawer.

It’s nice to be able to move the trays around for certain projects.

You can always buy the Packout-compatible trays and low profile organizers should you ever want Packout-compatible portability.
