Home Depot has another round of tool deals of the day for 5/15/24, with some of the Milwaukee promos being quite good.
There’s a good selection of deals on Milwaukee M12 and M18 Fuel cordless power tools, such as their detail sander, the new jig saw, cordless outdoor power tools, and more.
This Milwaukee Packout and 70pc Shockwave bit set stood out to me. It seems vaguely familiar, but at the same time I don’t recall seeing it before.

It comes with a Milwaukee Packout low-profile organizer case, a Shockwave impact-rated screwdriver bit set, a Packout-compatible customizable medium case, and 2 removable bins for the organizer.

You get a selection of 70 Shockwave screwdriver bits, with 13 of them being 2″ or 3-1/2″ bits. There’s also a bit holder, 2 nut drivers, and (54) 1″ insert bits.
This is the answer to the request “why can’t Milwaukee make a Packout and Shockwave bit set bundle with proper storage?”
Price: $43.97
This and Home Depot’s other tool deals of the day end at 3am EST 5/16/24 unless supplies sell out sooner.

This Milwaukee 90pc bit set bundle is also on sale, but not as a deal of the day special. It gives you more bits, and a full set of bins for the organizer, but no removable customizable bit case.

The current price is $40, which is $10 better than its Black Friday and Holiday season price.
Price: $39.97

This now “sold out” Milwaukee Track Saw set seems like a far rarer Deals of the Day.

Sadly it seems to me the west coast HD email blasts arrive hours later then the east coast ones.
Stuart
That deal doesn’t even show up for me.
Rob
It was sold out when I got up this morning on the east coast. Feels like they added it to the sale list despite not having the inventory to fulfill any orders or they simply didn’t allocate stock to that sku at all.

Shows up for me! (in Denver.)
Damn. I don’t have any M18 batteries. Getting the kit with batteries almost triples the cost.
Andy
The deal was showing on the main “daily deals” page on the app for me, however, it was sold out by the time I checked (7am) yesterday morning.
The M18 tracksaw is currently bundled w/ a free 31″ or 55″ guide rail & 2 clamps is $399 at HD, Acme Tools, Tool Nut, and Ohio Power Tool (amongst others). The deal runs through late July.
If someone is interested in that track saw deal, then its probably best to wait and see if HD offers another $50 (12.5%) discount on a daily deal or weekly deal. Ohio Power Tool usually lets you stack deals, so if there is a % discount or “buy more save more” deal that applies, you may be able to match the HD discount.
Andy
Acme Tools has a 10% discount code good for today only that applies to the M18 track saw with free guide rail and clamps bundle. Since the deal is over $200, it ships for free as well.

While I think this is a pretty good deal, it is not the answer to Packout bit storage. That bit organizer is meant to stay open in the Packout organizer. It takes up 2/3 of the space and is horribly inefficient. It makes much more sense to just use the bit case as a standalone bit case.
What we need is an organizer insert for an individual bin. I know there are lots of them on ebay and easy.
While I’m ranting, I really wish the low profile bin sets would be restocked. It’s great to see two extra bins here in this deal so maybe there’s hope. I accidentally typed “low profit” before correcting it, but I think that’s probably why they aren’t available.
Stuart
With the higher count bundle sets, “but there’s no storage for the bits!” is a common complaint. With larger-type accessory set bundles, “but there are no bins!” is a common complaint when there’s a foam insert or similar.
This setup is somewhere in the middle.
Sam
If all of the bits were at least 2″ long , it would be a good deal. 1″ bits are just useless to me.
Stuart
The 100pc set has a lot of 2″ bits, but isn’t on sale at the moment. It’s not promo-priced as often as it used to, ever since the 90pc set appeared late last year.

I have this Packout kit, since moved to a full width low profile organizer with a Packout drill index (an incompatible product has the same SKU and required Milwaukee CS to resolve) for most of my drilling and driving needs. If you don’t have tools banging around in the back of a truck, the medium tool case might be a better solution.
Still, I paid about the same with no regrets. It’s the organizer plus a few bucks more for the case and decent bits. You can always buy Wera for the ones you need to replace.

I’ve once had such a high content number Milwaukee Shockwave bit set, the container was OK, the boys we’re crap quality. And still it was 50 euro’s. Later I bought loose Wera boy to replace the ones that were worn out. Expensive at 3 to 5 Euro’s per bit. Bit boy did those outlast the Milwaukee!
So my advice to anyone eyeballing such a set: spend 30 to 40 on a lower part count Wera set…
w00dy
bits! Not boys!

Wera and Wiha bits are hands down superior to all the big box tool branded bits. These promos kits remind me of those old ads at Christmas for useless
multi tools for stocking stuffers.
JR Ramos
Wera bits are excellent. I always thought the old Wiha bits were very good, on par with the old US standard quality, and then they moved production to Vietnam. The new Wiha bits seem to be about the same quality as to fit and durability but they cheaped out on the finish and they flash rust pretty quickly (not a patina, just rust) even indoors. Disappointing. The Crescent bits are actually pretty decent too, which was a surprise. Makita being a current favorite for typical bits but I’m glad I got a bunch of the Wera, especially their long length versions. The Milwaukees seem so-so, not terrible, not excellent.
Stuart
When was this?
Milwaukee has updated and improved their Shockwave bits maybe 4 times now.
Premium bits have their place, but it’s also good to have more value-priced bits.
James
Agreed. I have better bits (rack a tiers double end are my favourite) but mikwaukee bits are very decent.
w00dy
A few years ago I think 4 or more? Not sure. Good to hear they improved.
But since I bought some Wera, Wiha and Witte bits I’m not going back 🙂
Rob
Been looking to get the 18v inflator to gift someone. Paid $199 for the same kit last year during similar sales and they want $299 today? Wow.
Stuart
Are you sure it was the same kit? Today’s deal is bundled with M18 High Output 6Ah batteries.
Other deals were bundled with the older 5Ah batteries.
https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/milwaukee-cordless-inflator-black-friday-deal-2023/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E
The inflator by itself is $179 right now. The 2-battery starter kit is $349. The batteries are $179 for 1, or $279 for 2.
There’s no less expensive way to get the inflator plus a battery and charger right now, at least not from authorized dealers.
Rob
Ah good call, yes it was the 5Ah batteries! I’d happily take them instead for that price though. 🙂
Alexk
Hope the m18 inflator drops in price.
If I needed more HO 6ah batteries, It’d be worth it. Have the Ryobi ($25) one for around 8 years and would like, but don’t need a more powerful one that has a more accurate gauge.
Also waiting on the m12 fuel jigsaw to drop. My “magic” number is $150 with the HO 2.5 battery.
