Over at Amazon, the Mora Companion fixed blade knives are is currently on sale, or at least certain styles are on sale.
For inexplicable reasons, the blue-handled and sheathed knife is lower priced than the other colors and styles, at just $10.

I own a couple of Mora knives, and judging from the popularity of previous Mora knife and deal posts, quite a few readers own these knives too.
These Mora Companion knives are a great fit for workshops, home use, garden use, and I can see some pro applications for them as well. They are also of course well-suited for outdoors adventures and tasks.
The blade is 4.1″ long an dmade from 12C27 stainless steel. Mora describes the blade as being ideal for carving, food prep, and cutting tinder. It is indeed a very versatile size and style blade.
Somehow, despite the low pricing, Mora still manages to be make these knives in Sweden.
I like my Mora knives, although they don’t see daily or even weekly use at times. Sometimes there are long spans when I don’t reach for them at all. But, when I need something sturdy, comfortable, and abusable, that’s when the Mora comes out again.
They’re well-made and very attractively priced for what you get. The finish could be better, but do you really care that the spine of the knife doesn’t have a mirror-finish polish? This is a knife to be used, and there’s not much functional benefit in polishing up the spine and driving up the price.

For $10, just buy one. Mora knives also make for great gifts. It comes with the color-matched plastic sheath.
Update 12/9/19 1pm: It looks like this color sold out. There are a couple of others priced at $12-13, and the knife is still a great value at those prices.
Amazon doesn’t say when the promo will end, all they say is that this $9.98 is the “with deal” price. I believe this is the lowest price we’ve seen on this knife in about two years. Last year, the blue Mora Companion knife was $9.72 as part of a December deal of the day, with other colors priced at $11 to $13.
If you’re not a fan of the blue colors, Mora makes the same knife in other colors, and also one with a carbon steel blade.
Thank you to AW for the tip!

We bought from them over the years. Their shipping cost on 1 knife is $3.78 – but $11.75 ($1.18 each) on 10

I loves these knives too for all the reasons you mentioned. They are truly a great value, a rare thing these days.

I have this one and a chisel tip model next to my X-Carve or on the bench, just great useful blades and not pricey.

thanks for this heads up. I have been wanting to get another one (bought one to test out last time you posed about them and not I want one to live in my car tool kit) these are great knives and the quality for the price is amazing.

I always assumed they left the spine rough for the people who want to use them to make sparks with ferro rods.
Stuart
You don’t really need the spine for that, just the edge.
Some people might beat on the back of the knife also, such as to split wood.
But I think the main reason is that it’s not functionally necessary to pretty it up, so they save the time or labor and costs of doing so.
PETE
Did you get my message on IG about the keter table on sale at samsclub?
Stuart
I haven’t picked up my phone in a couple of hours, but I’ll take a look soon. Chances are I won’t be able to respond or act upon any tips until later.
PETE
The keter folding table is on sale for $39.98 on their one day sale.

I glanced at that before.
I don’t like the fact x-horses are no longer made/sold.
Less fancy, no track slogs, but imo less delicate than that folding table thing that was released since.
Fsprk
No longer at this price.
Stuart
Thanks – looked like it just sold out. I checked this morning and it was still $10 then.
Randy
I bought one with your link for $9.98 but it won’t be in stock until 12/23 delivery after New Years.
Craig
Thanks again Stuart! I grabbed one that should arrive Tuesday. Now I’m regretting not getting a couple more as gifts.

For anybody who hasn’t used one of these, they have remarkably refined ergonomics. They are comfortable no matter how you hold them (hammer grip, reverse hammer, ice pick, etc.) And you can use them all day without developing blisters or hot spots.
I wouldn’t say they are IDEAL for food prep. For that, a flat grind (such as you see on chef’s knives) is better. But for general cutting tasks, the knife is great, and for woodwork, whittling, etc., it is probably unmatched,
I imagine somebody’s tried to convert one to a flat grind. But it would take hours on a very slow, cool wheel, because the handle is plastic, and will melt if the blade gets too hot.
