New Pocket-Friendly Sog Micro ToolClip with Pliers

SOG Micro ToolClip

The ToolClip is the newest pocket-sized multi-tool in Sog’s growing lineup. Despite its size, Sog manages to pack a lot of features into the ToolClip – compact plier with wire cutter and spring-return, a knife blade, 2 screwdrivers, a file, and pocket clip.

I’ve got to say, it looks pretty darn good. The list price is $20, but the ToolClip has already started popping up online for preorder at $16. Expect to see these in-stores in September.

Thanks for this post Stuart! I pre-ordered a black one from Amazon today. This Sog micro tool has just got to come in handy.

You’re welcome, glad it’s helpful! I might pull the trigger on the blue version. I’ve tried several other keychain-sized tools, and am never quite satisfied with how the pliers are on them. Maybe this one will be surprise me, it sure looks decent enough.

    Hey,

I just got an emaiul from Amazon canceling my order for my SOG.

    Thanks Norman, for the update.

This is a pretty crummy development. “Lack of availability from their suppliers?” To me that suggests that perhaps Sog couldn’t/wouldn’t deliver the quantity that Amazon was asking for. Or it could be a pricing dispute between the two companies.

I’ll be on the lookout for other vendors offering the Micro ToolClip for a similar price. Right now a 3rd party vendor is offering them for $18, which is $2 more than what Amazon was offering them for as a preorder. It looks like they’re available from many smaller distributors at a cheaper price, but with hefty shipping fees.

Since the tools are not due for release until September, there’s still hope that Amazon will relist them.

I got the same email from Amazon canceling my pre-order also. I definitely will be interested to see if you come across another vendor for this tool.

The old tool clips had a serrated blade with 1 notch that worked perfectly to strip wire, and a little notch and protrusion on the screwdriver/file that worked perfectly to curl a wire end to fit under the screw on an outlet or switch. Practically a tiny electricians tool. This one foregoes almost everything that made the original so handy.
