Here’s a look at Olight’s Black Friday 2020 LED flashlight deals.
I have purchased a couple of Olight flashlights this year, and received a couple of review samples from them as well. So far, I have been quite pleased with the user experience.

I would absolutely buy more Olight LED flashlights. They’re bright, their control interfaces are thoughtful and easy to use, and the built-in magnetic charging eliminates the “which battery and charger do I need” game I struggled with earlier in the year when buying a whole lot of rechargeable flashlights for review.
Of all the Olight flashlights that will be on sale for Black Friday 2020, I think that Warrior Mini is going to be the hottest EDC seller. It’s small enough for compact carry, and I have found my previous review sample to be extremely useful and convenient.
The i5T EOS with camouflage color scheme looks visually appealing to me, and that size flashlight is very convenient, powered by a single AA-sized cell (I use NiMH with lithium as a second choice – no more alkaline for me!).
Olight sent over a Perun headlamp sample, and I’m actually excited to try it out. I have been using the smaller size for everything but headlamp use, and this larger one might be a better fit for handheld use and stationary placement.

The star of the show will be new limited edition Warrior Mini flashlights, 4 with different anodized titanium color options, and one made from copper.
The Warrior Mini is said to be an “everyday carry defensive” LED flashlight option, but I’ve been using it as a daily-use type of light. I had to put some boxes in the attic, and instead of digging out a headlamp, work lamp, or similar, this is the light I reached for.
You get everyday use brightness level adjustments and user controls from the side button, and max output with the momentary tailcap button.
It’s powered by a customized 18650 Li-ion battery, and charges via the magnetic tailcap with the included charger.
The price will be $84 for the titanium Warrior Mini, or $70 for copper.
The Olight Perun 2 is said to be an upgraded version of the Perun. Olight says that the Perun 2 delivers more powerful and reliable illumination.
A quick look shows that the Perun 2 is indeed brighter, with 2500 lumen max brightness, and it is powered by a 4000 mAh 21700-sized Li-ion battery.
The headlamp comes with a head strap and also a pocket clip.
The Perun 2 will be $70 for the headlamp in orange, or $63 in black. There will also be a bundle that includes i3T 1x AAA flashlight with desert tan finish for $73.14 with the orange headlamp or $67.14 with the black.
The orange version of the Perun 2 is a special edition.
There will also be a special i5T EOS with camouflage color scheme. As someone who has grown fed up with black-anodized pocket flashlights, this one looks pretty snazzy.
Even if you don’t love the color scheme, this promo will beat the regular black-bodied Olight i5T on price, as that one is currently $30 via retailers. This camo version is currently set to be priced at $26.36 from Olight for Black Friday. It’ll be available starting 11/25 at 8pm, along with the rest of the specials.

Should You Buy Anything?
Well, do you want an upgraded LED flashlight?
Rechargeable LED flashlights and higher powered alkaline-sized flashlights are pricey, and there’s no getting around that. I feel that Olight’s flashlights are reasonably priced for what you get and compared to other brands.
Olight is not the only game in town, as there are other brands that have great quality LED flashlights as well.
I have come to really like Olight’s features, specs, and build quality. What makes them special, aside from the designs and limited edition color schemes, is the magnetic tail cap charging, which I have found to be extremely convenient.
Anyone can operate and charge these flashlights with minimal hassle, and this is something I cannot say about some of the other brands of LED flashlights I have purchased in the past year.
Personally, I think that the Warrior Mini, Perun 2, and i5T will be of the most interest to ToolGuyd readers. There are also some very high powered flashlights and weapon lights included in this deal.

Olights are great beater lights for the money, but one thing that still gives me pause are their lights that use a proprietary battery.
Otherwise, great for EDC use. I still keep Surefires around for my “serious use” lights and if I’m feeling fancy, will pull out the McGizmo Haiku.

True, but replacements look to be easily available.
I think the magnetic charging is a convenience and also very noob-friendly – a fair compromise.
I bought quite a few rechargeable lights for review, and it was a huge hassle picking out a charger that can handle all the cells properly, and actually matching Li-ion cells to flashlights. Some flashlights come with batteries when you buy them, but a lot don’t.
A McGizmo Haiku is not for beginners, or the light of wallet. Selecting a battery for that isn’t easy either – some cells might be too long to fit, for example, since apparently protected Li-ion cells can vary in length.
Since you mentioned Surefire, I recently upgraded my older G2L, and that has improved its usability, but it’s not as versatile or compact as the Olights that I’ve been using more frequently.
I will likely give away one of my Surefire’s, the G2X Pro, as I like my more recent Malkoff flashlights a bit better.
But compared to the Malkoffs, I tend to use the Olight mini Warrior more, and if not, it’s because I’ve purposefully grabbed something smaller or a different shape/form factor.

Agreed– I suppose I just have flashbacks to proprietary components and what happens if the company goes under. I have a few Pentagon lights that are pretty much useless now since the company went under (ironically, thanks Surefire for suing them to oblivion).
But I buy my parents Olights, as like you mentioned, it’s very noob-friendly, especially those who aren’t exactly flashaholics haha.
I’m glad to see another Malkoff supporter here– nothing quite like bombproof, made-in-USA items. I’m running their drop-ins in all my Surefire P lights and their E-series compatible heads add so much versatility/compatibility across various platforms (Surefire E lights, Surefire weaponlights, etc.).
I’ve had good luck with Keep Power rechargeables and run them in Surefires, Malkoffs, and my McGizmo without any fitment issues. Seems like the build quality is just about on par with the now-defunct AW batteries. Toss them all into a XTAR charger and you’re in business!

KeepPower is the brand I went with, but you still have to know what you need/want. I bought a pair of Samsung cells and a pair of Sony.
Which do you use in your McGizmo? I was worried about 16340 fitment, and he recommended Fenix, or at least conveyed that users were seeing positive results with Fenix.
It took me a while to find a Li-ion charger that allows me to dial down the charging rate on those smaller 16340s.
I don’t like how Malkoff mixes politics into their Facebook, but their customer service has been great, and their quality is great.
And – if you add something to your cart and “walk away,” they’ll send over a coupon code automatically (or at least in my experience) that makes the pricing less painful.
I ended up buying a couple of Malkoffs for use in an upcoming comparison of beam tint and brightness. When I’m done with that, I’ll distribute them around the house for use where they might be needed. It’s something anyone can use, in a similar light as Maglite.
For everyday use, I’ve been liking Olight’s better. I have a small one magnetically mounted to the inner garage door, for bringing garbage or recycling to the door, the smaller Perun on my desk, and mini Warrior on my workbench, and an AA in the kitchen.
Nobody *needs* a colorful titanium-bodied flashlight, but as with pocket knives, I appreciate different aesthetics.

Stuart, I have the Gizmo 1x AA body, so I’m running a KeepPower 14500 button top. I have larger hands– I much prefer the “long and skinny” of the AA formfactor vs the “short and fat” of the CR123.
Which Li-Ion charger did you pick? I’m always looking at alternatives to the XTAR VC4. The SkyRC MC3000 comes highly recommended on CandlePowerForums, but dang, it is pricey.
You really can’t beat the customer service from Gene & Cathy Malkoff…I had a question about their products once and when I called, Gene answered haha. I was not expecting that!

Just recently bought a couple Olights……but did some research before buying. I learned that Olight sells directly under the name Olight Direct on both Amazon and EBay. I bought an i5t and an S2R II at 20% off, where at the same time, they were full price on their website. But you have to be lucky enough to catch these quick sales on Amazon and EBay. They last about as long as their websites flash sales.

Yes. although from what I’ve seen (I’ve tried to track their sales patterns over the past few months), the flash sales are usually far better, and on special colors or in special bundles that save considerably more compared to retailer pricing.
Obviously compare and get the lowest pricing. What I’m saying is that this sale is going to have much lower than usual pricing and on special versions that won’t be available later. (But do you need or want the special versions?)
The Warrior Mini is going to be less for the aluminum version, and a future flash sale might be even lower. But if you want the titanium or copper versions, this will be the opportunity.
I’ve posted about all of the flash sales over the past few months, and each one was very different, mainly focusing on introducing new models and special colors.

Their website flash deals definitely have better prices on select models….and especially bundles. Unfortunately they haven’t included the specific lights that I wanted at that particular time I was looking……or I just missed them. However, we’re just talking about the difference of a few dollars being the lights I bought were well under $100. Great products thought. Love the magnetic chargers.

The Perun 2 is actually a headlamp, but I haven’t tested it as such yet.
Frankly, as a dedicated headlight I would look at something different.
I have a couple of reviews on hold until after Cyber Monday.
If I had to buy right now, Milwaukee would be the “I don’t have to think about it” construction-durable choice (what complaints or criticisms did you see about them?), Petzl as the “I need something lighter” choice, and ZebraLight as the “I am picky about the light beam characteristics and want something super light” choice.
What criteria or preferences do you have?

Battery run time and comfort where the 2 big ones on Home Depot. They only had one that wasn’t meant strictly for hard hat use.

Never mind another free keychain light, threw two i3e’s in as well at $8/per. That i3e is my new favorite light for automotive work, so easy to mouth carry (also easy to lose, now I’ve got three)!

That Warrior Mini looks handy, but it has that maddening and useless strobe mode (but that’s what makes it a “defensive” light, I suppose.) Do you have to click through that mode to turn the light off? That would be typical.

I love the little keychain light. So handy. I almost suggested to them on face book they should run a package deal of 5-10 keychain lights so people could buy them as xmas giveaways (or maybe a mix of keychain and AAA lights). For someone who is not into flashlights at all but needs them quite a bit Olight is a good deal, much better then the cash register bargain bin lights I normally have.

I think there is a middle ground. I learned long ago that buying the cheapest of something is ultimately very expensive. But, I simply can’t justify $50, $60, $100+ for a flashlight. I’ve had very good experience with about a half-dozen LUXPRO flashlights. These are available from Amazon, as well as the big boxes. For me, a +/- 400 lumen, replaceable cell, focus beam light is fine, and LUXPRO has many like this in the $15 – $25 range. These are well-made (in China), with a lifetime warranty and a toll-free customer service number in Utah. It’s a good compromise, for me.
