Rockwell JawStand Slow Clamp Adjustment Knob Workaround

Oct 26, 2010 Stuart Discuss

Over at Toolsnob yesterday, Doug posted a review of the Rockwell JawStand. In the review, he pointed out that the clamping mechanism is slow to adjust, and that closing it from 1-1/2″ to 3/4″ requires nearly 20 turns of the adjustment knob. This slowness is actually something that we discovered as well, but neglected to […]

Milwaukee Cordless Palm Nailer Performance Claims

Oct 22, 2010 Stuart Discuss

We talked a bit about Milwaukee’s new M12 cordless palm nailer last month, but its performance expectations have just been made available. Milwaukee claims that the palm nailer can drive a 16D 3-1/2” nail in under 2 seconds, and up to 100 nails per battery charge. That sounds pretty darn impressive – let’s hope that it can […]

Oct 21, 2010 Stuart 8 Comments

Porter Cable’s new ClampSaw is part of their introductory 12V Max Li-Ion cordless tool lineup. The ClampSaw, a compact reciprocating saw, looks pretty handy with its pivoting handle, but how well does it perform? We received a review sample and tested the saw on a number of different materials to find out. Wiha T-Handle Magic Ring Ball Hex Driver Set (SAE)

Oct 20, 2010 Stuart Discuss

Over at Amazon, this 6-piece Wiha t-handle ball hex driver set is currently on sale for under $11. We ordered a set for outselves a few months ago at a similar price, and they’ve been performing reasonably well. Milwaukee 18V Cordless Right Angle Drill

Oct 20, 2010 Stuart 2 Comments

Last fall we reviewed Milwaukee’s M12 cordless right angle drill, and found it to be a darn decent tool. It performed well, provided enough torque for RA applications, and had great ergonomics. It looks like a new M18 18-volt version is due to be released soon, so we compared the specs for the two tools.
