PB Swiss and Wera Bit Set Bargains May 2011

If you’re looking to replace old insert bits or need new sizes, check out these currently discounted bit sets on Amazon.

PB Swiss 10-Piece Set – There’s very little information about this set available, but according to this source, the CA6-972/C6-972 model number refers to a 10-piece Torx bit set. 10 PB Swiss Torx bits for $8 is a pretty good deal.

(Update: see comment #1, apparently these aren’t Torx bits after all.)

Wera 30pc Bit Set with Rapidaptor – Seeing as how a Rapidaptor bit holder is about $12 itself, the Bit Check’s $21 price is a bargain. Personally, I would only ever use maybe half the bits, but the Rapidaptor and handy case make the deal hard to refuse. Here’s a list of included bits.

I ordered the PB Swiss set (the first link) and I received a set of SAE bits. In other words, neither Torx, nor the pictured bits.

Thank you for sharing that info! That’s really weird, though, I wonder what the real part number is then. By SAE do you mean that they’re hex bits?

Yes, I meant to say that I received a set of SAE hex bits.

I ordered the Wera set to stash in one of my bikes and the PB Swiss set for the boat. But it looks like the PB Swiss is going back. I have no need for hex bits on the boat. I wish PB Swiss’s descriptions and item numbers would be a little clearer.

Hmmmm…if you find the part number for the metric one please post it. I’m seriously considering that since it’d be a nice thing to use with the bit driver extender on my multitool.

BTW, do you know of any good company that makes Torx/star head bit driver bits that go smaller than T8? I’ve found myself needing T4 bits at times (mostly when replacing the built-in—but user replaceable—li-ion batteries on some gadgets) and have had the darnedest time finding any in stores. I’ve seen a few online, but they’re from companies that I don’t know of.

This is what I use for Torx screws in electronics or other small tasks. It works great, cheap and I ve had it for almost 10 years

I have something similar to that Husky, but Kobalt-branded. It works alright, but I can’t complain for what it cost.
