PliersRack II – a Neat and Tidy Way to Organize Your Pliers

PliersRack II

Plyworx’s PliersRack II is a relatively new way to organize and store your pliers. It “holds all sizes of pliers,” meaning most sizes and styles, from small to large. I’m sure I have some pliers that this rack can’t hold.

The PliersRack II is made entirely from steel, and offers multiple mounting and placement options. You could stand it on your workbench in an upright position, as shown. Or turn it horizontally and place it in your tool box or cabinet. It can be mounted to pegboard, and could probably attach it to a wall too.

This is a simple, but neat and handy-looking way to organize up to 14 pliers. It comes with a fold-out stand for bench-top placement, and also special rivets for pegboard mounting.

According to Plyworx, you could also place this on a mobile tool cart. Even if the cart is jolted around a little, the pliers should tilt back and remain in place.

The rack is powder coated, and the steel wire has a triple-dipped vinyl finish.

Measurements: 12-inches long, 7-inches tall, 2.5-inches deep.

Price: $30

The original PliersRack is also still available on Amazon, for $16 (fulfilled), and $22 (direct), both with free shipping. That one fits more pliers (32), and can be cut down to suit your needs, but can only hold pliers horizontally.

The PliersRack II is much more versatile when it comes to mounting and placement options, but if you don’t need or want the powder-coated steel housing, and only plan to store your pliers horizontally, the PliersRack I might be better for your needs.

I’ve been looking for options for my plierench and multi tool collection. This might work, but it’s a little too industrial for my specific taste. Still, I now have a viable option to building my own.

I was just thinking that I could probably make something similar with a dowel, some hardboard dividers and a piece of plywood or two.

I might have to make one for work as we have a LOT of pliers.

I made a similar pliers rack for my tool drawer using a couple of dish drying racks I got from Target. I trimmed the upright parts so that I was left with the bottom only. I made an additional two bends to the rack and can now fit just about all my pliers, and cutting tools. All for less than $8 each and I got utensil holders that I can re-use. After I did this I spotted a bigger wire rack at Home Depot for the same price so there are other DIY options, you just need to get creative with bending the wires.

This has been all around Pinterest, making your own is as simple as bending some wire shelving from the local home store

I use the Plyworx/Grip Tools (Plier Rack 1). They hold about 32 pliers and one of these has ten slots for wider grip pliers. Between two boxes I have six of these.
It does require a 3 1/2″ tall drawer. These are excellent space savers, especially for the tool collector such as myself.

You can easily make this with some wire shelving and a vice or a bench top and a rubber mallet. Those shelves sell for nothing at flea markets, craigslist, garage sales and such, most people have some sitting around.

I just implemented an idea I saw on GJ forum, plexiglass dividers spaced by sectioned pex along all-thread across the back of one of my 3″ deep drawers. That allows more customizable spacing for thick and thin pliers (and plier-like tools like wire strippers).

    Hey Stuart,

I think that the affiliate link here is messed up. You are linking to the Grip Tools pliers rack on mistake, which is actually about a half inch taller than the original PliersRack. I think that it is a knock-off.
