What would be a holiday shopping season without power tool accessory deals?
While we’ve been burned by lower quality drill and screwdriver bit sets in the past, these promo packs can be a great way to get a broad accessory selection for your money. But you have to look closely at what you’re getting.
Do you need a box of #2 Phillips bits, or were you more interested in variety?

Did you want more 1″ screwdriver bits, which typically work in conjunction with bit holders and extensions? Or do you have greater need for power bits that work directly in impact drivers and drill chucks without the need for an adapter?

Dewalt Drilling and Driving Bit Sets
This 135pc set, priced at $29.88, has a little bit of everything – except for impact-rated screwdriver bits.

There are a couple of smaller sets as well, each priced at $14.88.
This set is all about the common construction bits – Phillips, Square, Torx, and Slotted.
There’s an 18pc drill bit set, but you might want to spend just little more for fewer PilotPoint drill bits ($16 via Amazon), or a little more even for additional drill bit sizes ($20 via Amazon).

Lastly, there’s a 40pc drill and screwdriver bit set.
Bosch Daredevil Spade Bits
There’s a rather appealing Bosch 14pc Daredevil spade bit set, for $20.
These bits are quite good, and getting 14 of them for $20 seems to be a very good deal. There aren’t any duplicates either – you get a full range of sizes, from 1/4″ to 1-1/2″.
Milwaukee Shockwave Drill and Screwdriver Bit Deals
As we discussed after Milwaukee’s media event, Milwaukee has come out with a completely new line of Shockwave impact-rated screwdriver bits and drill bits. From what we’ve seen, these new bits are quite good.
This 35pc Milwaukee Shockwave impact-rated screwdriver and nutdriver bit set looks to be a well-rounded set of bits.
It’s priced at around $18, which seems to be okay for what you get.
For a couple of dollars more, you get 11 more bits, including another nutdriver size, although you lose out on the 2 longer power bits included in the previous set.
It’s priced at $19.88.
It looks like this Milwaukee 18pc Shockwave impact-rated drill bit set comes with the new RedHelix drill bits that really impressed us at Milwaukee’s media event.
Like the above screwdriver bit set, this one’ll set you back $19.88.
Ryobi Drilling and Driving Bit Sets
There was a promo display of Ryobi’s new Dock-it power tool accessory storage system that we recently talked about, but with one big difference.
This set comes with a drilling and driving bit set, and the wall-mountable Dock-it storage shelf, and also a free spade bit set.
So for $20, you get the 56pc bit set, and an extra 11pc brad and spade bit woodworking drilling set.
Buy Now(Similar Driver Bit Set via Home Depot)
This drill and driving kit comes with 101 pieces, for only $14.88. The drill bits all looked to be smallish sizes, and the screwdriver bit selection is reasonably broad. There are Phillips, slotted, square, Torx, and hex bits.
Lastly, there’s a bit set that look like it’s most fitting to accompany a cordless drill present. Just like you can’t give a toy with batteries, you shouldn’t give someone a cordless drill without a couple of starter drill and driving bits.
It’s just $9.88.
Diablo Reciprocating Saw Blades
Buy this pack of 6 Diablo reciprocating saw blades, get 4 more for free. Plus there’s a handy storage case. This looks to be a decent assortment of blades, from a top-notch brand, for about $15.
I looked around a little bit, and couldn’t find anything close to what you get here for this price.
Avanti Circular Saw Blades
These 2-packs of Avanti Pro 7-1/4″ 24T circular saw blades look to be a great deal. You essentially get 2 blades for the price of 1, $7.88.
Speed Out Screw Extractor Set
Nothing says “I love you” like a set of screw extractors.
I can’t tell if these are the same product, but it looks like these Speed Out extractors are a lot cheaper over at Amazon.

HDX Sets
I’ll say this in as nice a way as possible: I wouldn’t touch these HDX drill bit or driving bit sets.
The HDX drill bit set gives you 35 drill bits for $4.88. That’s about 7 per dollar.
This 51pc screwdriver bit set for $4.88, while not as crazy-sounding, is probably going to have the lowest quality bits out of any set or brand you can find at Home Depot.
Makita Impact Gold
I reviewed Makita’s Impact Gold screwdriver bits a couple of years ago, and liked them a lot.
$13 is a great price, but you can find the same set for a little cheaper at Amazon.

I wouldn’t mind picking up the new Milwaukee shockwave drill bits and bit sets to try them out. I have way too many bit sets to be honest I could use a drill bit set though and the new Shockwave bits look interesting. I tell people to stock up on consumables on Black Friday you can’t beat the deals on bits and blades. The HDX drill bits are probably not the best but for light work in dry wall and wood they are good as expendable bits you don’t care about.
Brian
Quite a few repeat bits in that Milwaukee set. There’s only 12 different sizes in the 18 piece set. After noticing that I went from sure buy to on the fence. They do appear to be nicer than the Kobalt black oxide set but the Kobalt set is also $6 cheaper with more pieces and less repeat bits.
Don
My local stores didn’t have the reciprocating saw blades, but I’ll definitely be ordering some. Thanks for all the coverage on these deals!

I can vouch that the Ryobi sets are nice for the average weekend warrior like myself. They’re an affordable, organized, way to build a versatile collection of bits and drivers that are on tap for the occasional one-off project.
I personally plan to replace warn out bits with higher end Bosch versions as they wear out in general. I figure that way if there is a particular size bit I’m constantly reaching for, I’ll have a pro quality version, mixed with more affordable “low mileage” bits.
Since I’ve switched to Pocket hole joinery though, I’ve found my Ryobi bits are all getting less use, as the Kreg drill and driving bits do most of my project heavy lifting.
That said, I’ll probably DIY a similar bit box holder; I do need a way to organize the Ryobi cases I already have, and don’t really need any of the items offered in the current case storage option.

Does anyone know the fate of dewalt pilot point titanium bits? My local Home Depot has stopped stocking pilot point sets and is clearing out pilot point singles.
Is dewalt trying to replace pilot point with the black oxide bits? If so, why? The pilot point bits were so great!
Stuart
I don’t think they’re replacing these bits with general purpose black oxide ones.
There are 2 new PilotPoint styles coming out: https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/dewalt-power-tools-nailers-drill-bits-new-2015/%3C/a%3E , one with cobalt tips, and the other with 1/4″ hex shanks for impact driver use.
It could be that Home Depot plans to focus more on Milwaukee Shockwave and RedHelix drill bit sets, but there’s no way to know. I’ll try to see what the situation is like at my local Home depot.

Milwuakee hex heads are horrible. I just had to put that out there.
Michael
I have not found a drill /driver set that was put together by someone that actually uses them. They instead appear to be put together to maximize profit.
