Precision Twist 13pc Drill Bit Set for $15

Precision Twist 13pc Drill Bit Set

Over at Amazon, this Precision Twist 13-piece drill bit set (C13R10P) is priced awfully low at $14.09. These drill bits are bright-finish uncoated high speed steel (HSS) and jobbers length with 118° points, round shanks and spiral flutes. The set includes sizes 1/16″ to 1/4″ in 1/64ths increments.

All of the Precision Twist drill bits I’ve ordered in the past were made in the USA. These are bits that you can count on, unlike the painted pot metal ones mentioned in our recent cheap drill bits warning post.

Looks like they sold out and then raised the price due to the increased activity. At the time the post went up, there were maybe 10 sets in stock.

For about the same price or even cheaper you can get the Dormer A097 (Dormer is a sister brand of Precision Twist) which is the same geometry as the R10P series but with a TiN coating on the tip. I just got the 29 piece set for $85. They are very nice bits and the website has a lot of tech info if you can figure out how to find it. You can also buy 10 packs of replacement bits under the Dormer A012 name. Amazon has the best prices I’ve found.

I’ll have to look into that, thanks. I became familiar with the Dormer name after Amazon/Small Parts subbed them in when I ordered a few loose Precision Twist bits. From what I can tell, they’re every bit as good.

These aren’t my favorites bits, but I cannot help myself whenever I come across great prices. I was able to resist getting in on this deal, for which my overloaded drill bit drawer is grateful.
