Over at Home Depot, today’s Deal of the Day is this Ridgid R9623 18V 5-tool cordless combo kit, which is on sale for $299. They say this reflects $100 savings off the regular price.
These aren’t Ridgid’s latest greatest cordless power tools. For that, check out the Ridgid Gen5x cordless tool combo. You would of course have to spend more on the Gen5X tools, but Home Depot’s holiday cordless tool combo discount can help with that.

This combo kit comes with a compact drill/driver, impact driver, 6-1/2″ circular saw, reciprocating saw, LED worklight, a 2Ah Li-ion battery, a 4Ah Li-ion battery, dual chemistry charger, a carrying bag, and starter bits and blades.
User reviews are decent, and for the most part these look to be Ridgid’s everyday offerings, except for the drill/driver.
The drill, which is discussed in our best cordless drills for $100 post, seems to lack an LED worklight. This suggests it’s a lower priced entry-level model, further supported by its recent promo pricing of $99 for the standalone kit.
Still, this looks to be a good combo kit at great bang-for-the-buck pricing. It seems to be a good buy.
Price: $299
Coupon HDHOLIDAY takes $5 off the price.

Is it really worth buying Ridgid over other tools simply because of their unlimited guarantee?
Kevin
Actually when it come down to it Ridgid does not have an unlimited guarantee. Don’t let their sales pitch fool you.
The contractor I worked for learned the hard (and expensive) way. In one instance they would not replace their reciprocating saw when the blade holder failed. The saw had not seen much use and was taken care of and not abused. (This contractor is very picky how his tools are treated and used which is why we regularly use tools that are 15 plus years old and use them on a work site all day long.) In another instance they would hardly replace a battery that was defective right out of the package and the replacement was more due to the fact that personal helping us was disgruntled at Ridgids lack of guaranty.
We have better success, with replacement and service with other brands (like DeWalt, Porter Cable, ect) that don’t even claim a life time warranty.
In the end we use the Ridgid tools because we have them, but neither of us will buy or recommend their tools in the future. Buy at your own risk.

I was a hardcore Ridgid fan for quite a few years. Their tools were bulletproof and never failed me…. until I bought a new set. The new cordless tools are junk. Quality is sketchy at best. I completely destroyed both the sawzall and hammer drill within months. The gearboxes just scattered under heavy use. Granted, I’m a plumber and notorious for working my tools to death, but I expected much better quality from Ridgid. Very disappointed. Their new line of machined aluminum torpedo levels is the best I’ve ever seen, though. I’m glad they got something right.
