Home Depot brought their A game this year, and is offering an incredibly good Ryobi 18V cordless power tool deal right now.
For a limited time, buy this Ryobi 18V cordless starter kit, with 2x 4Ah batteries and a charger, and get a FREE tool from a selection of 14 different tools and accessories.
A similar deal appeared this past spring, and so this is the second time we’re seeing this type of Ryobi promotion. This is one of the best Black Friday 2023 cordless power tool deals I’ve seen so far this year.
Last year, Home Depot had a Ryobi 18V battery 2-pack on sale for $79. The compact brushless reciprocating saw was a $79 special in the sales flyer. With this deal, you get all that, plus a charger, for $99.
This Ryobi promo looks to be an unbeatable value.

Home Depot “standard” holiday season deals typically included a Ryobi 18V 4Ah battery 2-pack for $99.
Here, you get similar batteries plus a charger and your choice of tool for the same $99. But it’s not even the same $99, given inflation and all that, which makes this an even better value.
The free tool selection is compelling too, and includes quite a few Ryobi 18V HP brushless motor power tools. Most of these brushless HP tools are miles ahead of what Ryobi used to sell.
If you’re a Ryobi 18V cordless power tool user, definitely give this promo a closer look. If you’re not – do any of the tools fill a gaping hole in your tool kit?

Home Depot has another deal in their sales flyer and online, where you buy a Ryobi 18V HP brushless drill and impact driver combo kit at $199 and get (2) free tools. The selection is the same for both promos.
None of Home Depot’s other Ryobi 18V HP cordless power tool combo kits can offer anything close to this, or at least not anywhere near the $199 price point.
Home Depot has plenty more deals that are live now.
An Example of Why this Deal is Noteworthy

On 11/10/23, Home Depot had another round of tool deals of the day, and one such deal featured the Ryobi 18V HP brushless compact pruning mini chainsaw.
As part of this deal, the Ryobi cordless chainsaw kit, P25130, is on sale for $129. The kit comes with a charger and 2Ah battery.
With the deal discussed in the post above, you get the same tool, the same charger, and 2x 4Ah batteries for $99.
Compared to Home Depot’s flash sale on the regular kit, the deal I describe as the best of the season gives you the same tool and charger with two better batteries, and for $30 less.
If your preferred free tool choice goes out of stock (again), check back or look for it at your local Home Depot stores.
MoogleMan3
Not too long ago (Ryobi days I think?) home depot had that 4.0 starter kit with another two 4.0 batteries for $99 as well. I should have grabbed it but the only ryobi tools I use are the hot glue guns and the 7″ fan.
Joellikestool
The glums are great. We use our fans all the time, I have noticed the quality of the fans is subpar weve bought six different ones and had issues with three.
Robert Hafer
Even if you considered these tools essentially disposable, (2) 4 AH batteries with charger and a free tool? You can’t beat that with a sledgehammer.
A no brainer.
Mike
I just wish I could find someone to some of the chargers I received through several of these promotions! I think I’m up to a dozen batteries (including 2amp) and maybe 7 or 8 chargers. I have a high capacity charger that I use all the time, so I only need 1 or 2 of the extra chargers.
MuttMutt
Sell them to a pawn shop. I took a couple chargers in to one and walked out with a ryobi weed Wacker for 10 bucks.
I am getting a buck converter for one of the cheapo chargers so I can charge using 12v from my vehicle. Just got to get the voltage up a bit and then no issue.
Jeremiah D
I got a ryobi vehicle charger on clearance at a hd store years ago for about $20 otherwise id do the same thing.
John
Not only is the Ryobi a great deal, the free tool options are great quality.
AlexK
All the Ryobi batteries I’ve ever bought, still work. Was thinking about the m12 pruner, but this plus 2-4 ah batteries is too good a deal to pass on.
GaryWI
I agree with AlexK, every Ryobi battery I’ve ever bought still works. I am up to 7 or 8 now. All my Milwaukee batteries work as well, but the value of Ryobi is unbeatable. Some of the most useful cordless “tools” I have are Ryobi. The Inflator/Deflator get put in the van for my wife every summer to use for beach toys and camping. The 7.5″ fan gets used a lot more than I anticipated both cordless and corded. This spring I bought the Ryobi 18v 450CFM Blower over the EGO and couldn’t be happier. It is light enough for the wife and kids to use. This is coming from someone whose dad and uncle retired from Milwaukee Tool. Even thinking about grabbing the free tool deal as well. If you can add the 10% military discount it is even a bigger win.
MM
I’ve been impressed with the durability of Ryobi batteries as well. A family member uses Ryobi OPE, they like the brand because they make smaller lightweight tools which are easier to use as they get up in age. They store the batteries on the charger in an un-insulated sheet metal garden shed in Texas that freezes in the winter and gets crazy hot in the summer. 6 years so far and the batteries are still going strong.
Jr.
I have been leaving my ryobi batteries in the past in the winter in my garage and they didn’t last long .brought the grinder2 yrs ago with the battery deal and I started bringing them now in my house still going strong charge is quicker as well.
Mike
“The Inflator/Deflator get put in the van”
I carry one in my car all the time. I just wish DeWalt offered something similar, I’d like to get one for my all-DeWalt son-in-law. I found a third party inflator on Amazon that uses DeWalt batteries, but I’m leery.
Doresoom
DeWalt does make one:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-20V-MAX-Cordless-Electric-Portable-Inflator-Tool-Only-DCC020IB/305709688
I carry mine in the trunk of my car. It can also hook into the 12V cigarette lighter outlet if you don’t have a 20V battery on hand.
Or were you referring to the pistol grip style high volume inflator?
MM
I like that inflator, it’s very capable. It has both a compressor for tires and a high volume inflator/deflator for things like pool toys, air mattresses, etc. The onboard storage for the 12V cord, all the adapter fittings & hoses is well thought out. Both modes are quite powerful. It has a built-in light. You can even run it off an AC outlet, though that requires a cord which is sold separately.
Bonnie
I’ve had the opposite experience. Every Ryobi battery I’ve gotten has lost capacity after only a few months. They technically work, but are so aggravatingly short lived I gave up on them and bought a converter for a couple older Dewalt batteries that are going strong.
Jon
That’s because you have to take them out of the tool when it’s not in operation.
They probably weren’t even bad you just had them below the minimum level to be charged. BTW, this is not an assumption. Every single person I have talked to that had that problem with Ryobi Batteries had that problem.
Bob Schroll
I have the same problem with Ryobi batteries going bad even thought I take care of them. I don’t expose them to extreme temps or leave them on the tool. They shouldn’t get below any minimum charging level since they automatically stop working when the battery level reaches a certain point. I’ve been buying after market batteries that are hallf the price, work just as well or better, and don’t end up in the junk pile after short use. Ryobi batteries are basically throw-aways.
Jeremiah D
I got the one handed chainsaw at the last big ryobi sale and recommend it. Requires manually applying bar oil but cuts great.
Mopar4wd
My original blue tool Nicad batteries all died fairly quickly except one that oddly worked until a couple years ago. But the Lithium all of mine work great still, oldest ones have to be from 2016 or so, No problems. Now most of mine are 4ah and a couple 3ah which on Facebook groups seem to be the most reliable. The smaller and bigger ones seem to have more issues. Ryobi is a bit like HF you need to know what to avoid. From posts on FB I have avoided the 40v Ryobi and the 18V nailers and the small batteries.
Frank Sharpe
I have both the 18 volt and 40 volt Ryobi batteries and have had NO problem with them at all. They keep a long charge and are powerful especially the 40 volt.
TZ
Ryobi is actually the only brand I’ve had multiple batteries go dead to the point the charger doesn’t recognize them. And some that don’t really hold a good charge. For that matter I had a ryobi charger go dead too. I guess that’s part of why these deals are good for me though, because I have to replace batteries since they keep dieing. I do have a pileup of chargers though, since only one has ever died.
While some people complain about Ryobi tool quality, I’ve never had a Ryobi tool fail. Only the batteries.
Dewalt on the other hand, I had tools break, and had the Dewalt repair center fail to fix their own tools. But at least their batteries last forever.
Backcountry164
No battery lasts forever. Obviously. Physics is a thing. You don’t mention how long it took for your ryobi batteries to die. I’ve got 8 unused ryobi batteries because the deals are so good but the half dozen active batteries I use are more than I can burn though in a day already.
I’ve never had any problems and don’t know anyone who has. But when they’re so cheap that you can afford to buy them just to sit on a shelf for years, does it really matter?? I’m almost wishing a couple of mine would die, it’s reaching the point that I can’t justify taking advantage of the deals because I don’t want any more batteries…
Robert
For a “starter” deal, the $199 deal seems better. Yes, weaker in battery, but 4 tools seems to be more what a newbie could use most. Or better yet if the beginner can afford it, get both for $300. Five tool and three batteries, with 2 of the batteries being bigger.
AP
The Ryobi 18V platform fills my niche need for ‘different’ tools. Never once had a problem with their tools or batteries. The pruner deal seems outstanding!
Ray
I’ve used these deals (and DTFO) for what I consider “non-core” tools, like glue guns, fans, and lights. It’s convenient to have small fans and lights ready to clip where needed. I don’t think I’ll be replacing any drivers/drills/saws with Ryobi yet, but I am impressed with the breadth of the catalog and the improving quality.
Now if only that grease gun would come back in stock…
Bonnie
I’ve got a Surebonder (the OEM for Ryobi’s branded versions) glue gun that takes Ryobi batteries and a Ryobi brad nailer and both are excellent tools. Though I did get an adapter to run better batteries on them.
Adam
What do you mean better batteries?
Bonnie
All the Ryobi batteries I’ve had suck, losing charge capacity pretty quickly. So I use dewalt batteries on my Ryobi tools instead.
Susan Ciaburri
Hi Bonnie,
Same here I’ve bought probably 30 Ryobi tools over the last few years, I have 3 batteries that still work!!??
Can you suggest an adapter or the one you got, I also have DeWalt batteries.
I’d really appreciate it!
Thnx
Backcountry164
It would interesting to figure out exactly what some of you are doing to these batteries.
I’ve been using ryobi tools professionally for nearly 30 years. In that time I’ve thrown away maybe a dozen batteries. Mostly the old ni-cad. Since they switched to lithium I’ve had 2 go bad. And both still hold a charge and work just fine in lights and my gluegun. Just not enough juice to take much of a load in a tool. I’ve got more unused batteries than I know what to do with because of deals like thus. They’re not worth selling on ebay because that’s what everyone else does so they’re dirt cheap there too.
Jared
The grease gun stands out to me. I hope we get a similar deal in Canada!
Big Richard
Their monster 12pc starter kit is also SBOD today for $599 – https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-ONE-18V-12-Tool-Combo-Kit-with-1-1-5-Ah-Battery-and-2-4-0-Ah-Batteries-and-Charger-PCL2200K3N/321520790

I didn’t look at this deal but from past experience you have to be careful with the big kits. Sometimes the picture doesn’t match the description. I’ve caught this anomaly a couple different years but missed it last year. The kit I order was for 6 brushless tools. But I wasn’t paying attention, the picture only showed 5 tools and that’s what I got. They weren’t brushless either. And of course they’ll ship them right to your but if you want to return them you have to take them back to a store. Which kind of sucks when you’re a hour away from the closest.
Bob
Were are saws buy batteries and charger but no saws.
Stuart
There are multiple cordless saw options included in this promo.
James+C
What’s up with the two HP brushless OMT options? One has been sold out at least a week ago when I looked. That appears to be a gen 2, while the gen 1 is still in stock. I don’t remember seeing anything about the gen 2. I wonder if it will be restocked before this deal expires…
Steve
I had been eyeing the 6″ pruning chainsaw for a while but couldn’t stomach the $150 price. Picked it up with this promo, but returned the batteries after purchase realizing the way they ring it up was $40 for the batteries and $60 do the tool. That’s the real savings lol
Henry Skinner III
You can not go wrong with any Ryobi tool or any deals.
I was a newbie when I retired after a 45 year long haul truck driver, and still a newbie.
Any time Ryobi tool deals come around, it is another chance to get more tools. 😉, I love ❤️ them.
PS. I have been retired for 12 years now. I love it 😀.
HomerBucket
Why the heck did they set that bay with a grate on the top shelf??? If they had them consistently set like that ok fine but the Milwaukee bay has kickers in the top shelf.
Anyway that deal is fantastic but be sure to get the high power batteries for any brushless tools you buy. There’s lots of HP tools in that bay but they’re pushing the standard batteries hard.
Hon Cho
As of almost 5pm (ET) on Wednesday November 8th, five of the fourteen “free” tools are showing out of stock on the HD website. I would suggest moving quickly if this deal interests you.
Tom Crombie
How long is this sale good until? Just my luck I’d go to buy and the same would be over.
Stuart
It’s part of their advertised Black Friday savings – https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/home-depot-black-friday-2023-tool-deals/%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E
The expiration is said to be 1/28/24.
Historically, product availability tends to be an issue with these deals. Despite whatever the end date is claimed to be, some deals always sell out much earlier. This is the first time Home Depot is running a Ryobi promo like this over the holiday season, and there’s no basis for predictions.
Rich
home depot online is a garbage dump. i mean the buyer’s experience. pure hell
Backcountry164
You couldn’t pay me to go to the store for anything I can order online. Their website is easy to navigate, things are easy to find and shipping is free. The only issue I’ve had out of dozens of online orders is thier estimated arrival date. Their shipping can be a day or two slower than it should be.
Jaycob P.
I’d be interested in the chainsaw, but it is out of stock for shipment and the nearest store that has them is a 3 hour round trip.
Backcountry164
Doesn’t matter, online only. They’re in stock at my “local” store also and I was willing to drive and get it. But nothing I tried would allow me to choose it as an option.
Scott K
I just tried to buy this with the leaf blower but it’s not available in store or online. Oddly, it isn’t listed as out of stock, rather it seems they pulled it. Called customer service and they couldn’t explain why it’s on the ad but not an option.
Stuart
They could have put a hold to ensure there’s inventory in stock and available for Black Friday.
