Shop Vac Ultra Gallon Pro 12-Gallon Vacuum

Over at Amazon, there’s a Lightning Deal going on right now, on this Shop-Vac 12-gallon wet/dry vacuum.

Deal ends: 1:05pm ET (11/28/15), unless supplies run out sooner.

This is an assembled-in-the-USA Ultra Pro Series shop vacuum that normally retails for $120 and up. Yesterday, before the deal, it was priced at $135. It’s on sale right now, 11/28/2015, for $89.

This is the same price as it was during last year’s Deal of the Day on 11/14/2014.

  • 6.5 HP peak motor
  • Comes with detachable blower
  • 2-1/2″ hose and accessory sizes

Buy Now(via Amazon)

This time of year, there are plenty of shop vacuum deals to choose from, although most tend to focus on basic models that retailers are able to price very low. Retailers upped the quality of their Black Friday and holiday shop vacuum offerings in recent years, and it looks like that was the case this year as well.

However, it’s rare to see a premium-priced offering such as this one discounted ahead of or during the holiday season. Last year, this deal came around just once.

This looks to be a good buy, but keep in mind that part of the cost comes from the detachable blower feature. But even if you don’t need or want the blower functionality now, this looks to be a great deal.

You might want to compare this to this year’s Black Friday shop vacuum deals, although the this vac is a very different design and bundles.

This deal post was originally published 11/14/14, and updated on 11/28/15 when the deal returned.

You can find the real specs if you go to the Shop Vac website here:

    https://www.shopvac.com/wet-dry-vacs/vac-details.aspx?vacId=296&vacSKU=963-34-00

Then click on the performance tab:

    Air Flow: 200 (CFM)
    Sealed Pressure: 60 (inches)
    Electrical Ratings: 120V 60Hz 12Amps
    Peak Air Watts: 385

I’m impressed ShopVac actually lists the two most important numbers pressure drop and airflow, although these are ShopVac’s tested numbers and not any official testing body, so take them with a grain of salt. Also note that your peak pressure and peak CFM aren’t tested at the same time, that’s what the Peak Air Watts number is, but I have no reference on how good that is.

How would this compare value-price wise as compared to the $40 Rdigid wet/dry vac?

note: current usage would be for routine garage cleanup as well as car/truck cleanup.

If this comes back on sale, and it’s $89 again, and you’re willing to spend $89 on a wet/dry household vacuum, this one is definitely going to be better.

Larger hose, more accessories, and probably a better motor too.

I didn’t have time to think about it much today, at least during the Lightning Deal window, but if the sale returns before the end of the year, I’ll probably buy one.
