Skil recently slashed the price of their new cordless telescoping pruning saw kit.
The kit, which recently launched at $149, is now eligible for a $20 coupon that takes the price down to $129 before tax.
At this time, the $20 savings looks to be exclusive to Amazon, as I could not find any other retailer offering a similar discount.

The chain saw features a 6″ bar and chain, and can be extended to a length of 2.8 feet.
It’s kitted with a 2Ah battery and charger.
Price: $129 after coupon
Don’t forget to toggle the coupon, either via the product page checkbox or after adding it to your cart.
I never had the opportunity to test any of Skil’s 20V Max cordless outdoor power tools, but was impressed by their 40V Max blower.
As a reminder, Skil is owned by the same company that makes EGO cordless outdoor power tools and accessories. They’re well experienced in this product category.

When I posted about the Skil telescoping chain saw last month, it was $149 and Skil’s compact chain saw was $99 for the kit with 2Ah battery and charger.
Skil’s cordless chain saw is now $127.08 at Amazon, and $129 at other online dealers.
Thus, the telescoping chain saw has a new coupon that brings its price down to $129 from $149, and the compact non-telescoping chain saw went up in price from $99 to $129.
Skil’s parent company experienced a downturn last year, which could possibly explain these pricing fluctuations. It’s unusual to see a coupon on one chain saw and price increase on the other, especially given that they both recently launched this season.
According to Amazon, they only sold “50+” of the mini chain saw kit in the past month. There are no public sales figures for the 20V Max telescoping saw. Amazon says they sold “700+” of Skil’s 40V Max 10″ telescoping shaft pole saw kit in the past month. As when we posted about it a month ago, the pole saw kit is priced at $149.
$129 is a more attractive price for the 20V Max telescoping chain saw kit, although I saw more appeal in the previous $99 price for the compact saw.

Skil faces a lot of competition on Amazon, with the retailer’s powered chain saw bestsellers list topped with brands such as Tietoc, Saker, Rlsoo, Taranzy, Zeeksaw, Seesii, Wemars, Tomyvic, Bomves, New Huing, and Hopto.

That bestseller list of brands shows the entire problem with Amazon right now.
(I’ll pick Zeeksaw as it has the word saw in it, I guess.)

The Tietoc is clearly the better brand, as they appear in the top sellers with 2 different models.

Amazon is just AliExpress by another name.
Nathan
Why buy the compact model. It’s no more compact than the telescope and it’s more capable
Big Richard
Because it is $50 cheaper? With this coupon it is still $30 cheaper.
Stuart
There *was* a $50 difference last month – $149 for the telescoping model, $99 for the compact.
Now, the telescoping has a $20 coupon, and as mentioned in the post the compact model went from $99 for the kit to $127 and change at Amazon. It’s now $129 at other dealers.
So it’s $129 for the telescoping model (after coupon), or $127+ for the compact non-telescoping model. If the choice was just between these two Skil models at these prices, I’d go for the telescoping.
Big Richard
It *was* $127 for the non-telescoping, now back to $99 and a $50 difference. amazon is screwy with their prices, but right now I’m seeing $99 for the non telescoping and $149 for the telescoping. We could revisit this every week and it will probably be different prices every time.

I can’t comment about these products, but I have a Skil 40V 14″ chain saw that works well. I mounted a Granberg Clip N Trim hedge trimmer attachment on it, and use it for mowing down small patches of woody native plants that are too big for my string trimmer or hedge trimmer.
As for the Skil 20V Max system, I have the leaf blower, random orbit sander, and 1″ stroke jigsaw. Really like the sander and jigsaw; the leaf blower I’d rate about a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10, purely because I was hoping for more power.
