This looks to be the same USA-made FatMax tape that I’ve bought before, the one that’s typically sold in promo 2-packs at Home Depot every holiday shopping season.
I’ve had good experiences with these tapes, and they provide good bang for the buck.
I do have one complaint – I didn’t check both tapes when I bought them last, and one of them had a buggy lock. So if you buy this deal, check both tapes when you get them.
The tapes have been in and out of stock at Amazon. Every time I checked, they were in stock. Ever time I wanted to post about the deal, they were sold out and unavailable.

Used these tapes for quite a few years . Really prefer the older style Stanley tape. Not so bulky on a pouch . No idea why fat max ones are so overbuilt .. it’s a tape measure not a chisel

Tapes were one of those things where personal preference had a big role to play. Also while not exactly a “consumable” or disposable item – they do wear out, get broken, dropped, lost, stolen etc. Luckily tapes are in general reasonably priced – you might even say cheap – for the utility that they provide. We’d buy tapes in quantity and stock a few different ones at our workout centers – replenishing ones when they went out of stock. Stanley’s were popular, Fat Max not so much. We also had a few crews/carpenters et. al. who liked particular Komelon and Fastcap tapes.

Your crews’ preferences are pretty much the same variabilty as my photographer colleagues. All over the place.

When I was growing up, there were lots of debate over what was the best camera in various formats. There were medium format crowd that swore by or at various Twin Lens reflexes (guys who used Rolleis , Mamiyas or even Yashicas.) Or SLRs – Hasselblads or Bronicas. Then there were the 35mm guys who were in the Leica – then Canon camp for rangefinder cameras – or the Zeiss – then Nikon camp for rangefinder cameras – then SLRs. Always a few individualists out there too, with folks who wanted an Alpa or Topcon – or those with a smaller pocketbook who went with some of the lower priced brands like Pentax or Minolta. I earned some pin money at college doing weddings with a Linhof Technika IV – masked for 70mm film. My work was only passable – not because of a poor camera or bad lens (Schneiders mostly) – but because I was only a passable photographer. I decided to earn my living doing something else. There is an analogy with tools – in that personal preference can be important, that good tools can help produce good results – but ultimately good tools only produce fine work in the hands of a skilled worker.

lol my 3yr old daughter just murdered my fat max tape by burying it in the dirt while we were building a pathway on monday…. I might be picking up a 2-pack at lowes.

Great tapes! Thanks for the tip. When I was swinging hammers, there wasn’t a single carpenter on the site that didn’t have a FatMax. My wife uses her own to measure how tall the kids are getting!..LOL
