Stanley Portable 25 Compartment Organizer

Stanley’s professional organizers are extremely durable, easy to stack and store (even vertically), and best of all the 25 compartments are removable, swapable, and reconfigurable. I now have six units in use holding all types of small parts and components – hardware, PVC fittings, servos, electronic components, grommets, and the list goes on.

These organizers are as affordable as they are portable, and will set you back about $15-20 each. You can find these organizers online or at  home improvement stores. Our local Home Depot and Lowes stores don’t seem to carry the 25 compartment version anymore and instead only carry the less useful (from a small parts storage POV) deep 8-compartment organizer.

A word of caution – we have seen knock-off versions of these organizers, and while they look quite similar, their build quality leaves much to be desired. The Stanley version is manufactured by ZAG (now a Stanley daughter company) in Israel (at least as of May 2009).

I just bought a Husky box from Home Depot. It is a cantilever box and about the coolest storage box I have ever seen. I noticed on the sticker after I bought it that it was made in Israel. Pretty interesting that the Stanley and the Husky aforementioned are from Israel. Maybe it is becoming a center for hardware storage around the world.

This is great, as you can never have enough small parts storage. There seems an unlimited array of doo-dads beyond just normal nuts and bolts that you find in your possession and need to organize.

I have quite a few of these organizers, and I use them for everything from small electronic parts to screws. One of their great advantages is that I can take the little bins out to pour out the contents instead of trying to pick out the tiniest parts from a larger fixed organizer.

Being able to reconfigure the compartments is great too- I use one with mostly small bins for LEDs and tiny screws, while another with mostly large bins holds bigger parts like motors.

I have had this size and the larger size for several years now. Removable bins, awesome as mentioned above for getting small stuff out and also rearranging the various sizes to fit your need. What I have also done is use it for a drill case. Using the bins for accessory storage and space to keep everything in place (drill, index etc.). Best of all, they are very durable.
