Streamlight’s Stylus Pro is an incredibly good LED penlight flashlight. It is easily pocketable, bright, durable, and runs off of common AAA batteries. While not the best penlight we’ve used, as that distinction is awarded to the FourSevens Preon 2, the $20-25 Stylus Pro offers very high bang for the buck.
The Stylus Pro Reach is a variant of the Stylus Pro that features an 8-inch flexible extension that offers a total 14-inches of reach. This allows the Stylus Pro Reach to go around obstacles to aim light exactly where you need it.

The Streamlight Stylus Pro Reach is typically priced at about $27-30.
If you want something with longer reach, the Streamlight Stylus 65418 has an 18″ extension for 25.5″ reach ($20 via Amazon). If you want something a little smaller and thinner, the Stylus 65618 has a 7-inch extension (for 14″ total reach) and folds down to 7″ long ($19 via Amazon). Both of these alternate models require 3x AAAA batteries.
Of course, if you don’t need the flexible extension, we very enthusiastically recommend the Stylus Pro flashlight, which goes for $21-24 via Amazon.

I keep the Microstream clipped to my back pocket. Rides next to my wallet & I never feel it but know it’s there. Used everyday at work(general contractor). When off duty it’s my off-hand weapon light if I need it.

I’ve got the Stylus Pro in a couple sizes. I use them all the time. Streamlight also has a Pro-Tac line if you need more lumens, dimable output, and a flashing feature. And as far as tactical lights go they are very reasonably priced.

Sizes or colors? The smaller Stylus-Pro-like light is the Microstream.

You know you’re right, my mistake. I have the Streamlight Stylus Pro in black (2xAAA) and the the Microstream also in black (1xAAA). I got the naming convention confused because the Microstream looks exactly like the Stylus Pro, but 1 battery shorter, and they have the same functionality. 9 times out of 10 I throw the Microstream in my pocket when I’m working on something, because you always wind up needing light. I also have the Protac 1L, which is a fantastic pocket flashlight, the only downside is the CR123A battery, but I have a bunch around the house so as far as problems go it’s minor. I’ll probably pick up one of the Protac AA battery models next. Streamlight also has a Protac “HL” which kicks out an insane number of lumens in a small package, haven’t tried it yet. For good measure I have a Streamlight Nano attached to my keys just in case. I don’t want it to sound like a commercial for Streamlight, I just love flashlights, I own lights from Surefire, Pelican, Maglite, Underwater Kinetics, Inova and others as well, they all have their upsides and downsides.

Don’t worry, I call my Microstream a Stylus Pro every now and then as well.
From what I hear, Streamlight has excellent customer service, but I have yet to have to contact them.
I too have Surefire, Maglite, Inova, and Underwater Kinetics lights. My UK light was a keychain model that developed some corrosion under the lens. I’m not sure if the corrosion resulted from my error, a defect, or the batteries. It’s a crusty and yellow in color, so it doesn’t quite look like leaked battery fluid.
In any case, all those brands, and Pelican as well, are worth giving a try. Yes they have their ups and downs, but I generally find them to be quite reliable.

Good to know Streamlight has good customer service, although like you I have never had cause to contact them. I have called Surefire customer service and they were very helpful in answering my questions about upgrade components. Interestingly enough, out of all the “higher end” light manufacturers whose products I own(ed), Underwater Kinetics is the only one that has broken. I had one of their dive lights some years back and it came apart in my luggage returning from a dive trip (fortunately it broke after the trip), and I have never purchased another light of theirs again.
