The kit is priced at $536.71 $399.00 and is currently available for purchase.
Update (Feb 2014): Techni-Tool has dropped the price of the kit to $399 and has also added a new “light” tool kit with slightly fewer bells and whistles for $299.

I think that Techni-Tool should offer a smaller finishing tool kit in addition to this one. $535+ is a lot of money, especially for users that might not need the full complement of maintenance tools. Although all of these tools can be purchased from Techni-Tool separately, listing them as part a new 3D printing tool section might also be a good idea.
P.S. We did a secret-shopper-style evaluation of Techni-Tool back in early 2011, and liked their service but not their website. I am happy to report that their website is now leaps and bounds better than it was. Their cart and checkout system still doesn’t give a shipping estimate up-front, but this ultimately saves customers from over-paying.

This seems like a 100% overpriced toolkit.

Looks good for the teckies that don’t know how to shop for tools. If i was short on time with money to burn and a 3d printer this might be an option.

Some people just want an all-in-one hassle-free solution.
Do I think this kit is worth $500+? No way! But that’s because it won’t cost me much time or effort to piece together something similar. But for certain users, it’s worth the premium just to get everything they might need all in one shot with minimal effort.

Maybe the Techni-Tool website got improved after they were acquired by Grainger ?
Stuart
I was wondering why the checkout process was so similar to Zoro Tool’s! Not that I didn’t believe you, but I looked it up. http://www.techni-tool.com/Techni-Tool-to-join-Grainger-family Yup, Grainger owns Techni-Tool.

I know that Grainger had also acquired McFeely’s and Gemplers – but is reportedly selling Gemplers to Ariens. Hard to keep up with who owns who
Stuart
It’s even tougher to keep track of things when Grainger doesn’t have an easy-to-find page with such details either. Thus far their 2013 investor fact sheet and old press releases are the only place I’ve seen mention of Zoro Tools and Techni-Tool being subsidiaries of Grainger. There’s no mention of McFeely’s anywhere, although I know they’re owned by Grainer.

McFeeley’s was bought by Lab Safety – a Grainger Subsidiary
