Any thoughts on this Dewalt HEPA Dust Extractor? I’d love a Bosch or Festool… but nearly double the price justified? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OA02TZ0/

(Both the Dewalt and the Bosch are in the $25 off 100 promo)

I updated my jigsaw with a Bosch JS572EBL from ToolsPlus ($249 minus $25 with coupon code = $224 with free shipping)

    http://www.tools-plus.com/bosch-tools-js572ebl.html

Thought it was a pretty good deal. Got it last week – seems to perform well – but have not given it a full long term test yet. Some reviewers claim the base adjustment mechanism is prone to shifting off 90 degrees when you don’t want it to. It did not happen for me (yet anyway) in the 6 or 7 test cuts I made.

I have the JS572EL which is the top handle version of the exact same jigsaw you have. I love it, but the real criticism of it is that they went with a “permanent” plastic base cover with a slide on metal plate. I don’t understand why they reversed that from the previous models which were the other way around; i.e.: permanent metal base with a slide on removable plastic base. The problem comes that sliding on the metal cover is incredibly tight and unbelievably hard to remove afterwards and you end out scoring the heck out of the underlying plastic base plate. All this hammering and finagling to get the metal base plate on and off really puts a number of the shifting of the entire foot which is what I believe is most likely happening when the reviewers are complaining about the shift from 90 degrees. It just seems like a really stupid move to make plastic under the removably metal plate which further is not completely flush. Hopefully in the next iteration they go back to the old style and have the plastic plate removable with a permanent metal foot plate.

FYI – I’m seeing that Mr. Rebates and Fatwallet both have extra cashback on tools at Amazon today, 6% and 5.5% respectively. If anyone is looking for some extra savings.

Some Chase credit cards also offered 10% cash back on Amazon purchases this quarter.

Stuart–Does this include batteries as well? Or is it TOOLS only? I tried to buy a 2-pack of 5.0 Ah batteries, but didn’t see a $25.00 reduction in the checkout, so I didn’t complete the purchase. Thanks.

      It depends.

For example, Bosch’s 6Ah battery isn’t eligible but their 4Ah pack is. Some of their 12V Max batteries and starter set are eligible, others are not.

      Dewalt’s 2x 2Ah battery is eligible for the discount, their 2x 5Ah bundle isn’t.

Their single 5Ah battery is eligible for the discount, but you would still be better off with a double pack and no discount than 2 individual batteries and the discount.

Remember to check other sites that sell tools (ToolUp, AcmeTools, CPO outlets) as they sometimes give the discount to things Amazon does not. You can sometimes snag the free shipping and no tax as well.

        Travis:

I’d add ToolsPlus and ToolBarn to your list (there are probably others too) – good to check who has the best deal.

Do you trust buying tools from those websites? I’ve never used them before

I want the 12V Max jigsaw, but can’t bring myself to buy it until the price drops to around $100 before the discount.

It hasn’t gone out of stock once since Black Friday, and there’s no “only ## left in stock”, so I’m guessing they have plenty and there might be a last-minute discount before Christmas or between Christmas and New Years.

If not, well, I’ll get it the next time there’s a $25 discount, and hopefully by then the price will be lower or I’ll need it more.
