New Tool Deals – January 2025

If you buy something through our links, ToolGuyd might earn an affiliate commission.

Here are the latest tool deals. I’ll update the post whenever a new group of notable deals or promos are added.

Deals for 1/27/25

Acme Tools Double Discount Deals January 2025

Acme Tools – 10% off select promotional tools with coupon code DOUBLEDEAL.

The selection seems quite good, including promo-priced items from Dewalt, Milwaukee, Bosch, Makita, and more.

Lowe’s Deals of the Day – special pricing on select ToughBuilt levels, Loctite threadlocker and superglue, and a Kobalt 2-gallon air compressor.

KC Tool – the deal of the day is on Knipex 6″ Cobra adjustable pliers for $34.21. It’s not a bad price, but Amazon has it for slightly less.

Home Depot Tool Deals of the Day – 1/20/25

Home Depot Tool Deals of the Day 1-21-2025

Home Depot has new tool deals of the day, featuring Milwaukee cordless power tools and hand tools, Ryobi cordless power tools, outdoor power equipment, and battery power supplies from Jackery and Anker.

There’s a mix of seasonal deals, such as cordless snowblowers, and cordless lawn and garden type tools that I assume have started to roll into warehouses for the 2025 spring season.

The cordless power tools and hand tools are great bargains, but at a glance I’m not seeing anything new. A lot of the deals are obvious repeats, and there are a bunch of holiday season special buys at further discounted prices.

It’s worth a look, but this is another “walk, don’t run” type of deal event.

Home Depot tool deals of the day end at 3am ET 1/21/25, unless supplies sell out sooner.

Lowe’s Tool Deals of the Day – 1/20/25

Kobalt 50pc Bit Ratchet and Socket Tool Set Contents

Lowe’s dropped the price of this Kobalt 50pc bit ratchet tool set from $20 to $10, today only. I’m seeing high local delivery fees, and so you might want to order for in-store pickup.

I’d definitely opt for in-store pickup. When I found this at my local store, there was just one and it was buried in the back of the mechanics tool set shelf. My stores have plenty in stock (19), but the last I checked there was no physical display for it.

Say what you want about Kobalt, I think that $10 is an undeniably good price for what you get here.

Acme Tools Winter Savings – 1/20/25

Acme Tools Winter Sale January 2025

Acme Tools has a buy more, save more offer, today only, with coupon code WINTERSALE.

$15 off $99+
$30 off $199+
$45 off $299+

Basically, for every ~$100 you spend, you get an additional $15 off, up to $45. It’s not a huge deal, but if there’s something you’re looking to buy, the more savings, the better.

Skil Deals at Lowe’s?? – 1/20/25

Skil 20V Cordless Power Tool Battery with USB Charging

Lowe’s has a bunch of Skil 20V Max cordless power tool kits that are all very low priced and also very sold out.

A couple of readers have asked about Lowe’s getting rid of Skil tools, and someone recently suggested that Lowe’s has been dumping Skil 20V Max cordless power tools specifically.

With these deals of the day, it really does look like that’s what is happening.

Today only, the only in-stock Skil deal is this 2Ah battery with USB charging, priced at $9.98.

This battery has a USB-A port, and so it only does one-way charging; you’ll need a standard Skil 20V Max battery charger in order to recharge it. But if you’ve got a Skil charger, here’s a spare battery or awkwardly shaped battery power bank for just $10.

Felo E-Smart 14pc Insulated Screwdriver Set – 1/20/25

Felo E-Smart 14pc Insulated Screwdriver Set

KC Tool has this 14pc insulated shaft screwdriver set (made in Germany) discounted to $40.99, today only.

If you’re looking for more tools to pad your order above $75 for free shipping, check out their Halder hammers.

The Felo model number is 53439, in case you want to shop around.

Home Depot PRO Tool Deals of the Day – Ending 1/12/25

Home Depot Pro Tool Deals of the Week ending January 12 2025

Home Depot has new PRO tool deals of the week, ending on January 12, 2025. These deals focus on Milwaukee cordless power tools and tools, Ryobi products – yes, some pros buy ’em – and also Ridgid.

There are some decent deals here, but nothing different from what we’ve seen over the holiday season. It’s worth a quick look when you can.

As expected, there are some holiday promos at with slight discounts applied to “special buy” pricing.

Shop Home Depot Tool Deals of the Week

Home Depot Tool Deals of the Day – 1/7/24

Home Depot Tool Deals of the Day 1-7-2025

As with the PRO tool deals, today’s Home Depot deals of the day features a mix of cordless power tools, hand tools, and accessories from Milwaukee, Ryobi, and more. There are also some cordless outdoor power tools and equipment, as well as Jackery and Anker power bank power stations.

Again, these deals are worth a look, but we’ve seen many of these deals repeated times over the past few weeks.

There are a lot of good buys here, but nothing to drop everything to get in on.

For example, select Milwaukee socket sets are an additional $10 off, and Dewalt 20V Max Atomic cordless drill and impact driver kits are their usual $99 but with accessory sets bundled in.

Frustratingly, the Dewalt cordless drill kit is bundled with impact screwdriver bits, and the cordless impact driver kit is bundled with drill bits that can only be used with a drill chuck. You can use impact-rated screwdriver bits with a cordless drill/driver, but you can’t use standard drill bits with an impact driver.

I just had an M12 6.0 pack fail and of course it’s just outside the warranty period. The other one I bought at the same time is acting weak. Time for replacements. I’d be interested in any deals involving M12 5.0 HO’s.

I’m up to four failed 6Ah…have been replacing them with the 5Ah and all is good so far…on higher drain tools like the circ saw, vacuum, etc. the run time appears about equal to me (less voltage drop, better/faster rebound between spurts of use). I heard about an early death with one 5Ah but no idea on the situation…for me they seem great and I’ve used a few of them a lot.

The deals on 5Ah were 2/$99 and 2/$120 but I think those are done. If you don’t mind Amazon, I’ve bought a couple there from seller JB Tools and they’re legit. I don’t know if Northern Tool is still doing their coupons and still allowing Milwaukee on those but I scored several from them at great prices that way.

It’s just one or two cells in the 6Ah that get low, but they’re most likely still perfectly healthy and usable. I pulled out the HG2 cells from one and use them in lower drain flashlights although the more current 30Q cells are better. I’d try the warranty and see if they’ll take care of you, and if not reuse those cells rather than recycling, if you can. Despite some heavy use all of those cells from my packs are healthy and hold voltage as they should…..just dumb premature “failures” because of crappy engineering/design on Milwaukee’s part…what a waste.

Is this why some brands crow about their battery tech?
I.E. Built in tech to prevent over-depletion, stuff like that?

Somewhat probably. From a safe engineering perspective it’s standard fare design but for some reason many of our power tool brands don’t incorporate it or do it half-arsed. And they approach it differently (in the pack vs. in the tool housing). In this case with the Milwuakee 6Ah they just picked a cell that really could not handle the abuse asked of it – not for long anyway – in the pursuit of more amps out. I don’t know why they just don’t do a third row and make a 9/8 Ah pack and make everyone happy (for tools that can use that and the bulk would be less of a drawback). But Milwaukee doesn’t have cell balancing and chose a cell that just couldn’t hold up as well to high drain/heat as lower capacity cell choices…so a high failure rate from users that use them a bunch, use them hard and hang ’em up wet, or put them in some of the Fuel tools that can really let the juice flow under a good work load (resistance). Most of the “tech” we see advertised isn’t more than low resistance/higher output cells in terms of pouches or 21700 and now tabless. Most all of these tool packs could be smarter and better for very little added cost – and they should be.

The ostensible side benefit for manufacturers is that packs die when pack death can be prevented and more packs are purchased. Not many actually see their rated charge/discharge life cycles maxed out before they give up. Battery pack pricing has always been a racket, priced much higher than they should be, no matter which technology was in vogue at the time. So there isn’t a lot of incentive for them to do better (other than power output, which we all can enjoy today, but which sometimes comes at a cost…but that’s improving slowly).

You’d think reputation and brand loyalty would be incentives to do better. But not with Milwaukee. V18 batteries cost them my cordless business. And to be fair those V18 tools were bulletproof. The newer M series stuff has quality issues with the tools too!!!!

The little 2″ planer can sure suck them dry, too…pretty sure that killed one of my mediumly-used 6Ah. The great part is that now the 4-led battery indicator on the planer is full of dust so I can’t even see the lights well anymore. Ha.

They’re $299 and $329, not $400. Frankly, they’re huge and overbuilt. If you look at how much a Packout drawer box costs, the DXL doesn’t seem unreasonable.

But no, it’s not justifiable for most individual buyers, and definitely not consumers.

When I looked at the DXL boxes at HD, they were super nice to use, the drawer latches remind me of the setup of my old metal Craftsman rolling box. (Also, why did reasonably priced metal boxes move to some form of friction stop slides to hold things closed, the old handle lift latches were better and easier to just shove closed.)

I made a point following up to some of my questions on a previous post regarding modular drawers to check out everything at Lowes and Depot, and I would say Packout and Klein seem like the best made. I like the Dewalt drawer latch mechanism better on their regular Tough System drawers, but they seem less sturdy for someone who would be moving them around a lot.

I was not a fan of other options at Lowes/Depot for various reasons from build quality to mechanics to available options.

Walmart does not seem to stock the Hyper Tough boxes, so I may need to order some to check them out. They are so cheap I can forgive more sins with them at least.

I realized I can’t edit the typo that was to be $300. Still, I have need to get two drawers for my DXL wheel base and top, which would be another $710 for two and three drawer unit and top worksurface.

I just got the Ryobi cordless table saw. It was a special buy without batteries for $229 today only. Thank you for your previous review of all cordless table saws. That helped me make the decision. I already have plenty of their 18V batteries and was surprised to see it used 18V.

I’m doing some trim right now in a location where I don’t have access to a table saw, and just spent an insane amount of money on plain trim pieces that I could have cut myself and gotten what I wanted rather than settling for what the big box stores have in stock. I’ll be returning them and ripping my own except for a couple of profile ones that I’m matching to replace. I love the idea of easily being able to take it outside once the snow leaves my area. Hopes for spring.

Since I have a track saw, I can cut down sheet goods and then get easier uniform cuts of smaller pieces, like shelves. I mostly felt I had all the power tools I needed, this is the exception. (Maybe there will always be an exception if the price is low enough.)

The idea that it’s quieter than my trusty DW625 is music to my ears!

Also a reminder– it’s free to sign up for home depot’s pro program. There’s a few more tool deals to be had through the program. I took advantage of a couple just before the new year. It’s really no different than the special buy products, just an additional step to access.

But most of the other benefits of the program don’t really work in individuals favor unless one is spending multiple thousands at home depot in one year. Possible, but not likely typical year-over-year for non-contractors.

Is that Dewalt XR Jigsaw DCS335BWCB205-2 at Home Depot a good deal? at $199 w/ 2 x 5Ah batteries. I really don’t need the batteries but 5Ah would beter than 2Ah. Mainly, is the saw good and compact? Actually rather have 1x5Ah and 1 carry case. No case on this deal.

I can wait for a better jigsaw if there’s one to be had?

Hi Rich! I was wondering the same thing – it seems to be a well-regarded tool, and for the price you are basically paying for the saw and getting the batteries for free (Home Depot has the saw bare tool for $199). Seems like a good deal if you are looking for the saw and the batteries. From the reviews I read online it is a good saw, but you can probably find something more compact – I wonder if the Milwaukee M12 is more compact? I personally have not used it but I am in the market.

I’m sorry that I didn’t see this in time. I think it’s a good deal. It’s usually just the D-handle grip model that’s featured in the holiday free tool deal promo, not the barrel grip.

@Rich and Stuart – of course! Im glad to hear you got a corded jigsaw to borrow – that is a great option. I have a corded D handle Black and Decker jigsaw that has lasted me 6-7 years already and still seems new.

I pulled the trigger and bought the barrel grip with 2x5ah batteries. I live in an off-grid yurt and it is very annoying to run my generator any time I want to use my jig saw. I recently picked up the Dewalt 7.25″ sliding miter saw used with no batteries. I believe it is sold in a kit with a 4ah battery, so I figure having the 2 5ah batteries will run that saw for a long, long time – probably more than I will ever need at home or a job. I would not have picked it up unless Rich alerted me to take a second look, so thank you both!

Nice catch MM! It looks like the $179 D-handle Dewalt for $179 with PowerStack and charger is the 331 model, which apparently is not quite as good as the 334. They are selling the 334 D-handle with 2x5ah batteries for $199 if someone wants that model/battery combo. More tempting for me is the 334 D-handle combo with 2x4ah batteries and 2x2ah batteries for $199. I spent the same money for the 335 (barrel grip) with 2x5ah batteries at Home Depot, but Im not convinced I will like the barrel grip more than the D-handle. Only time will tell!
