Tractor Supply, the “largest rural lifestyle retailer in the United States,” has been very active this past year, partnering with more tool brands to bolster their selection.
The retailer partnered with Porter Cable in late 2021, but didn’t stop there. When looking into things for my recent update on Porter Cable, I learned that Tractor Supply formed major new partnerships in 2022.
Tractor Supply partnered with Bosch Tools starting in mid-2022, adding Bosch power tools and Dremel rotary tools, oscillating tools, and multi-saw tools to their lineup.

Tractor Supply said that Bosch power tool products would be available online and in nearly 1,000 locations by the end of 2022.
They talked up the brand, saying:
With a Bosch Tool, you know you’re getting a professional-grade power tool ideally suited for any project, whether it’s on the job or living Life Out Here.
Our customers look to Tractor Supply for the highest-quality products in every category, making Dremel and Bosch power tools welcome additions to our tool lineup. We are excited to bring our customers Bosch’s renowned tool engineering and to get their tools in our customers’ hands.
Bosch and Dremel aren’t the only tool brands partnering with Tractor Supply Co.
Earlier in the year, Tractor Supply and Greenworks announced an exclusive partnership, where Tractor Supply would be the exclusive retailer for Greenworks Pro 60V cordless power tools and equipment.

The Greenworks Pro cordless products were set to roll out to Tractor Supply’s website and their stores nationwide.
Earlier this week, Tractor Supply reported “record fourth quarter and fiscal year 2022 financial results.” Their Q4 sales increased by 20.7%, and net sales increased by 11.6% for the fiscal year.
In their announcement, Tractor Supply said:
Tractor Supply had another remarkable year in 2022 as we continued to gain market share and advance our strategic initiatives.
Tractor Supply reported $14.20 billion in sales for the 2022 fiscal year. While far behind the revenue that Home Depot and Lowe’s pull in, this is no chump change. From a sales revenue perspective, these figures mean Tractor Supply is larger than many other household names, such as Ace Hardware.
Tractor Supply is growing, and they’re forging strategic partnerships with tool brands along the way. It will be interesting to see what they do next.

With regular news about all sorts of retailers trimming back on their retail bricks-and-mortar outlets and or on the brink of bankruptcy (BB&B in today’s news) – it is good to hear that Tractor Supply is prospering and expanding. I haven’t shopped in one lately – the nearest to my principal residence is 36 miles. But they are much closer to our summer place than either HD or Lowes. My wife likes that store for garden supplies and that she can pick up dog treats at the same time.

I actually really like Greenworks products, but their voltages drive me nuts. I went with 80v for a few pieces of equipment but it seems like some retailers only carry 24 while others carry 40 and now it looks like TSC will be 60. I get having the crossover tools at 24 (still laughing at the drill pic), but I can’t imagine there’s enough difference between the 60 and 80 to justify the different platforms. Seems to be hurting the breadth of line between both. 60v has an 8.0ah battery too which would be nice, 80v tops out at 5.0z
Trying to buy a battery gets confusing because it doesn’t always call it out easily.
As a weird aside, Best Buy of all places has some great prices on Greenworks (mostly 80v). Ordered one online so we will see what the date codes look like if it’s old stock.

Not me. Once my Greenworks dies, I’m replacing with either EGO or Husq products.
I had their pole saw and it snapped. They sent me replacement head (thank you Greenworks) but then at same time, I was given a Stihl gas version 13ft model for free. Well, I couldn’t give away the Greenworks polesaw. (they made a crucial mistake engineering a key part with sintered metal. Its a fatigue issue and not something I want failing again).
Now seeing all the new tools coming out by EGO, Echo, Husq, plus some pro-sumer mower products, I’m thinking career change and moving to EV outdoor services…

I suppose that makes sense. Wilco (a regional competitor) has a pretty decent selection of DeWalt and Milwaukee in their stores.

Bosch for sale at TSC … I may have to look again, but nothing grabbed my eye at my last visit two weeks ago, walking that half of the store, three times, looking for a specific cub cadet belt.

TSC is remarkably consistent and that’s a good thing. I go in about once a month for chicken feed and usually pick up ant poison or tape or something random while I’m at it. Everything is always in stock and their employees do a good job of being helpful but not annoying. They also have a point/reward system that doesn’t suck and I get $10 back and checkout every couple of months. Count me as a fan.

Might vary. The one near me always seems to be out of stock of what I’m there for, and the employees don’t know where anything is.

Retail is a funny business. It never seems to vary that the comments that I see online about x, y or z store vary widely from one person to another. It may just be that one customer/reviewer may be more demanding or have some different needs than another. But I also suspect that the comments may be about different locations of the same chain. Store X in locale X may have a management team that is on top of things in general and also motivates their workers better than store X in locale Y. In this case. that could contribute to why one person thinks TSC is great, while another has no use for the place.

Fred – you are all over it. Consistency across a nation-wide brand is very hard to achieve. Brick and mortar retail is hard, there are no shortcuts to providing a good experince. The manager needs to be good at taking care of employees and customers. The store needs to be clean and well organized. Inventory needs to be well managed. It takes people CARING about the store. Most of the Home Depot stores near me fail at this. The Lowe’s are better in my immediate area. In other places I visit, the reverse is true. I visit the stores that feel like are well managed and staffed by employees that seem to care. I couldn’t care less which sign hangs over the door. The big corporate office may be driving the marketing, products available, policies, and Internet integration, but the local staff has immense.control over the retail experience of the customer.

Our tractor supply company is awesome ,can’t say enough good things about it ,they always have stuff that I need.And they treat my dog like she is family,pet friendly, people friendly too.

Bosch and TS seems like an odd combination. When I think about “life out here” I don’t see Bosch tools, and vice versa.

I don’t shop at TSC often I have multiple hardware stores, garden and feed and of course big box orange and blue closer to me. But there is one between work and home, so I swing in there sometimes when I need something, I like their stores but whoever decides what the local stores carry for power tools needs some help.
I just looked online using a in stock filter at my store search for power tools and it confirms my in store shopping experience, the local store has multiple flexvolt tools in stocks (grinders impacts etc) as well as cheaper porter cable drills and saws, then they also have a Bosch freak impact a 12v impact driver and a makita saw and a few different size batteries for all those tools. No regular 20v dewalt drills in stock, No makita drills or impacts in stock but circular saw and a recip? Just weird. And normally I would chalk it up to supply chain issues, but this seems to be an issue with TSC for years.
