Over at Amazon, they’re running a promo today-only on Wolverine work boots. We checked, and it seems that these boots are priced at a hefty discount. Maybe not the 40% or more that Amazon is claiming, but they are on sale.
For example, the above-shown Moc-Toe work boot (style W08288) is on sale for $73.11 for the several sizes I checked.

Its MSRP is $130, and it can be found some places for close to $100.
Another boot, the Moc-Toe Wedge Heel (style W08289) is on sale for $75.86. Its MSRP is $135, and it can be found for ~$98 to $133 online.

As for the brand, I’ve found Wolverine work boots to be fairly comfortable, and quite good. I like ’em!

This reminds me that Wolverine has a new boot technology that I’ve been meaning to write about – a lightweight CarbonMax safety toe cap that their marketing materials suggest is made from carbon nanotubes.
They simply say nanotechnology, but the promo video shows what look to be nanotubes. I asked for more technical info, but didn’t really get anything good, which led me to forget all about the new tech. Not that it matters here, since there aren’t any CarbonMax boots eligible for today’s savings promo.
Anyway… will you be buying a new pair of work boots? If you’ve worn Wolverine boots in the past, what do you think of them?
If I had to choose, I’d probably go with the Wolverine Tarmac work boot, which is on sale for $96.

Look to be well-priced.
I thought to buy my son a pair for his snow shoveling – but I guess I’ll have to stick with Dunham’s – since the Wolverine’s don’t seem to come in 15-3E

I bought those boots with the steel toe. I remember buying them on amazon, December 2014 for around $90.
I found them decently comfortable (kind of heavy), but the soles didn’t last a year. One sole split in half and the other had a divit in it. Threw them away last month.
Depending on the season I rotate work boots, so they last a little longer, but the soles went pretty quick on those. For a good price ($60ish), I would pick the steel toe again.

I also have a pair of brand new made in usa Thorogood wedge boots. Besides the made in usa labor cost, I don’t “feel” the difference from Chinese Wolverines to justify the cost for usa Thorogoods.

I had a low end Wolverine work boot once. I would wear them for 10-15 hours a day and they held up and were comfortable. The job I had at the time required a lot of walking. I still have the boot, the sole is worn out but the leather is still in really good shape despite the stuff I walked through and did to the boot.

Had a pair of Wolverine work boot shoes (essentially very low cut boots in how they looked) once. Barely ever wore them so I put them in their shoebox in the close. Somehow the soles of those shoes melted and the bottom middle section of the sole caked off in giant chunks. Never seen any shoe or boot quite disintegrate like that especially on it’s own. Couldn’t understand it considering I have other boots and shoes in shoesboxes in the same closet for longer periods of time and they exhibit zero of those same effects as the Wolverines did. I ended up trashing the Wolverines.

Anybody know if that style of sole material is available in black. I like that style of boot, but the white sole always looked dumb.

They’re good boots for bunions with plenty of room in the toe box. Don’t expect to get many years out of them if you’re on your feet all day, which can be a reasonable trade off for the price.
Like most other boots made in China, the ankle area is over-sized, to where the laces cannot tighten the boot completely around my ankles before bottoming out. An Indonesian (IIRC) pair I owned for ten years (wore them a few months before shelving for a decade) had the same excellent fit around the foot as contemporary models, yet the ankles were normal.

I ended up ordering a pair of the steel-toed ones.
I had a coupon that stacked with the sale price, so I ended up paying $62 including tax. Even if they don’t last all that long, I can deal with it for that price.

From my experience with safety boots for the last 10 years, at my work we can order a new pair every 6 months, the most comfortable ones are made by KEEN. I had this ones before, even hough the upper leather was holding well, the inside didnt have much comfort. For those who are on feet over concrete floor all day long, this model is not the best. For ocasional wear or somewhere on a construction site, they will serve well. Just my 2c.
