Worx TriVac WG509 Blower Mulcher Vacuum

The new Worx WG509 TriVac is an updated version of their original TriVac 3-in-1 blower, mulcher, and vacuum.

Right now, it’s discounted as part of an Amazon Lightning Deal for $94.99. Deal ends at 7pm today (12/6/2014) unless supplies run out sooner.

The TriVac has received some great reviews over the years, and it looks like the new model offers a couple of minor improvements. The older models are still available, and for less than $95.

This model typically sells for $120, and so you save ~$25 with this Lightning Deal.

Compared to the older version, this vac has similar power (12A, 350 CPM), comparable blower speeds (75 to 210 mph), and a higher mulching ratio (18:1 vs. 10:1). Other than that, I can’t tell you how this model differs from the one that came out a couple of years ago. Conversion from mulcher/vac to and from blower is tool-free.

According to a press release I found, this model was released in September 2014.

In case there’s any confusion, I should point out that the vacuum, blower, and mulcher modes are all intended for lawn and garden use.

Looking for a less expensive model? Worx also makes a lower featured model that doesn’t look to convert as quickly or easily between operation modes, for less than $80 . There are a bunch of other models as well, but it’s not quite clear as to which are the current models and how they all differ from each other.

I own one of these. Very hard on the back. If the unit was a foot longer it would definitely help. The bag also wears out very fast. If they fixed these 2 issues I would buy an updated version

The metal impeller model was /is available for some years now. Its code is WG502
The nylon impeller equipped model is the WG500.

What this new model, WG509, brings to the table is a worthwhile improvement in the form of a speed selection wheel on the handle.See it here:
    http://www.amazon.com/WG509-Electric-TriVac-Blower-Mulcher/dp/B00MN4YCKK

The metal impeller equipped models are an improvement on the original( still on sale) because of all the complaints about the nylon impeller/turbine not lasting very long when vaccuming twigs, little rocks, cedar mulch.

The G509 with its metal impeller is very durable and can effectively reduce up to around 16-18:1. I have made the test with a WG502 that I own, to show my spouse its capacity to reduce 15 bags of leaves she had raked and bagged in the yard.
I emptied them all in one pile and proceeded vaccuming them all into ONE bag.

My Wife never raked leaves after that demonstration 😉

I have bought the leaf Collection System, it will fit nicely on the Brute 44Gallons/ 166.5Liters (search for BRUTE® 167 l Utility Container). Just put the appropriate liner in and your bagging leaves like it was nothing and a much reduced bag count.

Worx used to have a code to sell you the metal impeller model combined with the Leaf Collection System but they don’t offer this anymore, you have to order both items now separately. The code was WORX WG504.1 Trivac Delux Combo Kit .
Wich you can see here on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/WG504-1-Trivac-Collection-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B007PC71V2

Also, the US site and Canadian site for Worx are showing differences: On Us site, only the WG500 is shown or accessible. On the Canadian site, you can arrive at a page that presents the WG502 metal impeller equipped model.

Crucially, this new model WG509 wich is equipped with a metal impeller AND ALSO a speed adjustment wich corrects a shortcoming the previous models had of being single speed.
    Go to this page: https://www.worx.com/en-US/worx_trivac_metal502.aspx

I would also like to see them get rid of the cord and plastic “thingy”/ retainer and hard-mold into the handle the receptacle plus stress relief/”thingy”/ retainer for our extension cord because the present cordlet and “thingy” is a pain to deal with.
Just wished it would be like on my B&D hedge trimmer or my previous Yardworks blower-Vac.
They also appear to have gotten rid of the basic Leaf Collection Kit( WG4053) and now offer the Leaf Collection PRO(WG4054) wich provides different attachments to use on various brands of blower-Vacs.
