Over at Amazon, there’s a Yost deals of the day promo, featuring a number of the brand’s vises and clamp offerings.
There’s a little more selection today, compared to the similar deal of the day 2 months ago.

Yost has a good reputation for quality vises. Of the ones eligible for today’s deal, I don’t think any are made in the USA. I haven’t tried any of their entry-price bench vises, but the user reviews seem to be okay.

I’m a little skeptical about the lowest price vises. The Yost RIA-4 I reviewed a while back is a good vise. There’s a 4-1/2″ “Home Vise” on sale today for $20. My compact vise sample weighs 15 lbs, this larger-looking Home Vise is said to weigh 10.55 lbs. It has good reviews and bad, but past experiences have made me very hesitant about cheaper and lighter bench vises.

Just for comparison, I looked at the 750-E. Amazon says its $150 – reduced down to $88.67 – a claimed 41% saving. It sells for $101.33 at Home Depot – but Walmart has it listed for the same $88.67 with free shipping.

I ordered 4 Yost vises (RIA-4, FSV-4 and 2 WW) from Amazon in the last deal days, all separate orders across a few days. All drop-shipped from Yost.
First one I never saw – the shipper wouldn’t even deliver because it (apparently) fell out of the box entirely and was damaged. Replacement and next 2 arrived with bent handles; one wouldn’t even slide through the hole. Only the small RIA-4 arrived unscathed.
I called Yost and complained and they offered to send replacement handles/screws. I never got them. Yost acted shocked like is wasn’t a packaging issue and never happens. Given the batting record, I didn’t bother returning them and just used a torch and cheater pipe to straighten them.
All that said, I’m generally pleased with them, particularly the FSV-4.

I prefer shopping on Craigs for a decent used American made vise and just refinish it myself. It is getting harder to get a good deal on these now that people have such a generous opinion on the value of their “Antique”.

I bought a Yost 750-DI back during their Black Friday sale. Maybe because it was one of their heavier vises, mine came packed well with plenty of cardboard padding around the entire unit.
I’ve been happy with it, but must confess I haven’t done a ton of heavy work on it yet.
I’d buy it again.

I’ve been blessed with both US made Craftsman vises and I cleaned out a bunch of giant US made Columbia(n?) Vises when HD was clearing them out for (much) lesser imports.
Also I totally agree with the Craigslist or even newer local Facebook Tool group search ideas.
Just look. And don’t give up after a week or two as it’s called searching for a reason. That being the reward.
BTW what does Graingers have in the way of US made Wilton’s?

Yost is good if there American made ones. …older craftsman American made are good and older Wilton

Yost’s offices are just a short drive from my house, sent them pictures last year of a damaged box and paint missing from the vise. Asked about touch up but was told that they were not ‘authorized’ to send out touch up paint. If the manufacturer isn’t allowed to send out paint then who is? Love the vise just not the local customer service. They did offer to sent out a whole new vise but it wasn’t worth it for a little missing paint.

bought a few 36″ parallel clamps.. right under 30 bucks each.. we will see how they perform.
