11-in-1 Survival Card

This past December, I had the opporunity to check out one of these immensely popular 11-in-1 survival cards firsthand, and I thought it was junk. The tool’s knife and saw were dull and in awkward positions, with the other features being as equally unimpressive.

Personally, I feel that cheap tools are okay, but cheaply made tools like this have the potential to do more harm than good. What do you guys think? Would it be better to have a cheap flimsy “survival tool” like this, or nothing at all?

I dislike this tool so much that it actually gave me a nightmare last night! I dreamt that I lost my Leatherman multitool and a pocket knife, and was stuck in the wilderness with no tools other than this survival card.

This survival card is marketed under many brands and can be purchased for about $2 via Amazon and other dealers.

Drop me off in the middle of nowhere with that tool, a piece of flint, and a roll of duct tape. Then prepare to be amazed. 🙂

LOL…Well if I’m going to be dropped off in the middle of nowhere with nothing but that card tool, I wouldn’t turn it down. However, it definitely wouldn’t be any of my first 1000 choices.

I have actually used these and when it was the only thing around it was useful. When I was going through WOC (Warrant Officer Candidate) School we were not allowed to have any knives and this thing slipped right into my wallet. The screw drivers were the most useful however the knife did come in handy sharpening a pencil a time or two. Being stuck in the wilderness with just this would be awful, but being the one guy with a bottle opener in his wallet and a case of iced down Corona, you are now the one eyed man in the land of the blind or some such thing.
