Acme Tools Cyber Monday 2019 Promo

Acme Tools Cyber Monday 2019

Over at Acme Tools, they have a new Cyber Monday deal for this year – save 15% off orders $99+.

This is usually a solid promo, as it means you can score discounts on tools that are rarely if ever otherwise on sale. Last year, the promo was for 18% off one item and with a $50 max discount. Although 15% is less than 18%, the discount ceiling is higher, allowing you to save more. Plus, it’s eligible on your entire order.

There are exclusions, which is always the case, and these are set by the manufacturers.

Use coupon code CYBER15. Deal is only valid 12/2/2019. $100 max discount, one promo code per customer.

Deal Info via Acme Tools

Here are the usual brand exclusions:

I tried to buy a Milwaukee M12 inflator (79) and a Skil PwrCORE 12 battery $40), but the discount code didn’t work for me, using Firefox, even with my ad blocker and Ghostery tracking plug-in turned off. The cart showed that that discount code had been applied, but the prices didn’t change.

Same problem with the 2719-20 M18 Hackzall tool-only. It’s in my cart, and the Checkout page shows that the Cyber15 discount has been applied — but it hasn’t been, because the price is the same top or bottom. Tried it with a few other things, too. Someone wake me when it’s fixed; I have an important meeting scheduled — with my pillow.

I like my M12 3/8 ratchet enough, this is a good time to round out the collection with a 1/4 and 1/2…..

Oops. My bad. Scoured the list of exclusions here with my eyes and the Chrome “Find in Page” tool. Maybe I typed it wrong.

Looked through the list on their site, but neglected to let the computer do it. When I finally did, the SKU popped right up, buried in the midst of a hodge-podge of others from that yellow tool maker. Slipped it by me, they did. Live and learn.

Ah, I missed that longer list of exclusions. Yes, now I see that my M12 inflator (2475-20T) is excluded.
I ordered the inflator on eBay from a seller who has more than 10 of them for $69.95 each “or make offer.” I offered $66.50, and it was automatically rejected. The seller let me make one more offer, so I offered $67.50–still rejected! So I paid the full $69.95. Even at that price, it’s the best shipped price I’ve found.

They really need to get on the ball with this and just mark on the page or thumbnail for each item whether or not it is eligible for discounts. Nobody wants to cross-reference look at a long list of model numbers against the model numbers for the item they’re looking at. I typically don’t even shop Acme unless the deal for a particular tool is called out because navigating their exclusions is so onerous.

People buy things at Amazon not because it’s the cheapest, but because it’s friction-free. This is the opposite.

Agreed. I was actually ready to place an order with them today but it was too convoluted to figure out why the discount was not being applied. Tried giving them a call and their automated system hung up on me after 10 minutes on hold.

Hmmmm…… Can’t say I agree with your assessment of either Amazon or Acme in this regard. I’ve had plenty of friction from Amazon, and my experience with Acme is almost always smooth as silk. So far, at least. Almost.

Amazon is on the other side of things, they show you a massive unfiltered list of what is eligible, although sometimes items marked as eligible aren’t because Amazon doesn’t sell the items directly.

There’s no single retailer that does things perfectly well.

It certainly could be better, I have skipped on ACME before for the same reason. Too much work for this not that within a brand fine print based on numbers that have no meaning to me.

In all fairness AMZ is not perfect either. Twice had it where I am ordering from a page that said $20 off $200, or $50 off $250, something along those lines, on THESE items from THIS particular brand; only for there to be no discount at the end, having to chat, be promised it will apply when it ships, then it was upon delivery, still nope, fortunately I was cautious and took several screenshots, proof of item in the list, etc. then had to call, forward proof, links, … ugh.

I rarely buy from Acme anymore. You can find better prices from legitimate retailers all day any day for the most part. Only chance Acme sells things is with their occasional discounts. Even then with discount, I can hunt a close enough price somewhere or at least available to ship now somewhere.

All I wanted was Milwaukee 3/8 stubby, so I waited for today over Friday which should be the best prices. Acme shows it will take 10-15 days. Stubbies are endlessly found on Amazon and ebay for immediate shipping. I buy tools to use, often the day received. I don’t buy tools to covet or stare at. No desire to wait any longer to save a few bucks.

I have no experience with Acme and placed my first order today. What about them is not “legit”? The exclusions page is definitely a mess and I was adding to many combinations of tools to my cart to check prices until I finally figured out most things that already included something free weren’t eligible.

I ended up buying a Dewalt DCK694P2 six tool kit with a free impact. The 15% worked for that. I couldn’t find anywhere even close to the price I got it for. Since I purchased new am I going to have issues with desalts warranty if I need it? Not sure if acme is an “authorized” dealer.. assuming desalts requires purchasing from one to make a warranty claim.

Acme is linked from Milwaukee’s “find online” tool so they’re at least a Milwaukee dealer. They’re also linked from Dewalt’s page.

@Jonathon, Never implied that Acme is not legit. My intention was to say buying from other legitimate retailers elsewhere, not just stolen goods or boxes that fall off trucks or shady crap. That’s all I meant. Acme is a very legit tool seller and has always top notch in my purchases; they’re just not the best price wise these days.

I personally no longer care what retailer I buy from. I want a good price that’s all and prompt shipping. It’s rare I ever need a human to intervene, so I see no value in retailers who charge above others for the same boxed model number tool.

Yet every Dewalt item I’ve looked at on Acme’s site is a minimum of 15% more expensive than it is on the identical new Dewalt items I’ve had in my Amazon wishlist for the last year… hmm. Bullshit sale.

I’ve said all along ACME is a waste of time. 98% of the time, you can get it cheaper and faster from anther vendor. Not sure why anyone does business with this outfit.

      You’re wrong.

I’ve ordered from them before sometimes because they had the lowest pricing, and judging by how popular some of my Acme Tools deal posts have been, others found their offerings and promos to be worthwhile too.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but don’t make up facts.

A lot of the time, authorized dealers all have the same pricing, and Acme is no different. That’s the way it is.

Buying from any vendor is situational. In my case, Acme has always been a decent choice, and outside of issues with the shipping companies, has been problem free. Today’s sale allowed me to pick up a tool for much less than any other source and saved me $50. That’s a win in my book.
