Over at Acme Tools, they’re celebrating Labor Day with a 10% off $199+ coupon offer.
One of the best parts of this promo is that it works on quite a few new tools and preorders, such as the new Dewalt Xtreme brushless rotary hammer, Metabo HPT’s new cordless trim router, and a whole lot of Milwaukee tools and Packout tool boxes.

Fred, thanks for the heads up on Zoro; I’ve been shopping there a lot lately.

Headline says “$10%”, just % is needed.

Thanks! Sorry, that’s what happens when I type out the title while wondering what the max savings cap is. I should have caught it during proofreading.

10% is really pretty meager. I’ve always felt that 10% is the absolute minimum discount that should be allowed to be called a sale. It certainly isn’t enough to get me to pull the trigger and buy anything. Hell, I don’t think I’ve ever even bought a house for less than a 10% cut off asking price.
fred
Lately there have been bidding wars for houses in many locales – my neck of the woods being one. I’m not sure why this is (COVID related housing shortages ??) – but it also happened just before the bubble burst. It is certainly area specific – and I don’t believe that it is the case for my alternative residences – and may be cooling off in general. The other phenomenon I’ve been seeing are buyers ripping down houses after spending 7 figures to buy them – and then building outsized (IMO) structures on the property.

Why does acme tool advertise so much stuff as list price of 1.5-2x the actual msrp? Really annoying deceiving practice that makes them seem scammy even though I know many have vetted them.
fred
I’ve always thought that many online (before that catalog/mail-order) vendors have some lines that are listed at very good (or near unbeatable) prices – while they list others at prices that are run of the mill – while even others are quite high. The low prices are meant to suck you in to thinking that the vendor is a low price leader – and the high prices items (if purchased) help make up for the low margins or losses on the “loss leaders.” Its just another example of caveat emptor – and your need to compare bottom-line pricing (with tax and shipping) when shopping and evaluating so called deals. We also found that many vendors might provide better quotes if you were buying in bulk or asked them to price match a legitimate deal found elsewhere.

That sort of thing used to be standard for “discount” chains like Wal-Mart. Offer a great deal on an expensive item like a TV to get customers in the store and then make that money back, and more, with the little stuff.
I must say I’ve never noticed Acme do this though. They’re one of my few go-to stores to check for power tool deals and while often times they’re not they cheapest I’ve never seen them post sky-high prices.

every single piece of makita string trimmer equipment- linked below. I get the logic, it just feels silly to do this online in TYOOL 2021

Really disappointed in the Acme Sale. I have bought a lot of stuff from them! Labor Day is Monday the 6th. Went to Acme’s website to buy a few things knowing they would be having a promotion and the sale was over before Saturday the 4th, what the %^#@
Oh well, just spent $325 at their competitors and got $25 off. I am on their email mailing list, for whatever reason I received no notification of their current promotion.
