Acme Tools sent over a list of new tool deals that I can only describe as being super secret VIP doorbusters, featuring select Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Makita products, plus a couple of others.
At first glance, I didn’t see anything special about the prices, but then I started adding some of the tools to my shopping cart, and lo and behold exceptionally good discounts and freebie offers were automatically applied.
These deals are NOT advertised on Acme Tools, and so you MUST add them to your cart to see the discount or freebie offers.

Some of these tool promos seem too good to be true, and so I’m guessing that supplies are limited.

If you’ve never experienced one of those quiet series Makita compressors (you have the correct pic but a typo calling it a Milwaukee ) I don’t know how you keep your mistakes to such a minimum this time of year as busy as you are….
I have the 110v quiet series in my wood shop and it amazes everyone who stops by (and it still amazes me every time it runs- it’s just SO quiet).
Anyone who buys one will be delighted.
Stuart
Whoops – thanks, fixed it.
James
Agree!! We love ours in the shop.
Bonnie
I use mine for pressure casting and airbrushing in the house. It’s incredibly nice I can run it right next to the bedroom and it’s barely noticable.
Bill Clay
The Makita 2 gallon that is shown above says 68dB, the California Air 2 gallon that I have says 60dB. It is quiet too.
Stuart
The Makita is battery-powered, California Air Tool compressors are all AC/corded.

BTW – if you’ve been eyeing some of those great Veritas (made in Canada) hand planes or other tools – now may be the time to buy. The discounts on Lee valley Gift Cards – starting at 10% and going to 15% (on $1000) may not be so compelling – but next year’s promised tariff’s (said to be 25%) on goods made in Canada – may make a buy this year seem much better.

“next year’s promised tariff’s (said to be 25%)” <– that's eye-popping. Thanks for the heads-up.

At $309 the M18 top handle saw with 12in bar still isn’t as cheap at as Home Depot which is selling the top handle 14in bar saw for $300. I’m really hoping for an even better deal and I’ve been holding out on buying a M18 saw until I see something that is a bit better.
Dave P
What’s better is an EGO saw. And not just “a bit better”.
I used to bleed Milwaukee red and I still have trucks full of Milwaukee stuff, but they’ve let me down on occasion and the chain saw, when compared to my EGO saw, is one of those times. 56V vs 18V is not worthy of comparison…the EGO is light years better.
Same w the string trimmers–my Milwaukees (I have 2; I’m a slow learner) will overheat before I can get done (takes 3 9V batts to get it all trimmed here and they overheat/shut down normally about 2/3 of the way through the second battery) and my EGO just runs and runs and runs through as many batteries as needed.
AllenN
I have an ego trimmer and blower. They both are fantastic. I’ve considered an ego saw but haven’t been thrilled with battery prices. I have two 4.0A ego batteries and they are great but they are quite heavy and very expensive to add new ones.

agreed the milwaukee lawn tools is about the ecosystem of batteries. I didn’t want to start with another line of batteries – especially ones that are specific to just lawn tools.
I was also going to comment that the Home Depot 14″ is $300.

Well then it’s a no-brainer for you (as you already have 2 batteries)–go EGO, it’s a much better saw.
EGO has the “advantage” to not being a power tool company and therefore they are not heavily vested in lower-voltage battery systems; you can’t get 56V power out of an 18V battery (like Milwaukee and DeWalt are forced to TRY to do….
Stuart
The 12″ is $339 at Home Depot, but the 14″ is $299.
Acme Tools also has the 14″ for $299.
Some might prefer the 12″ size, in which case a $30 discount is better than nothing.
