Today only, Amazon is running a great deal on 12 gallon Akro-Mils hinged lid storage containers. We reviewed these Akro-Mils totes a few years ago, and continue to use them.
I recently started buying Quantum containers instead, because my previously favored supplier – Zoro Tools – could not ship these to me undamaged. I suppose I got my wish. In the review, I mentioned being unhappy that they shipped via truck freight, but they don’t arrive intact when shipped UPS.

Anyway, the Amazon deal is on the 12 gallon, 1.62 cubic foot, 21-1/2″ long, 15″ wide, 12-1/2″ tall totes, in blue, grey, red, and green colors.
These bins are typically widely available in grey, so I opted to go for blue this time. I ordered 2 cases to get a head-start on spring cleaning and decluttering.
The sale price is $100 for (6) totes, which is a good price. The regular price via industrial supplies is typically $20 to $26 each, sometimes more.
While I could potentially get the same bins for a little cheaper at Zoro or other industrial suppliers during big coupon sales, I am more confident that I will be satisfied ordering from Amazon should any of the bins arrive damaged.
With the sale price, these come down to $16.67 per bin.

Periodically, I’ve found these at Costco or Sams (not sure which) for about $10 each. And no, I’m not referring to the cheap versions, specifically have found these high quality bins there. Worth a look, but certainly if you need them now, $16 a pop isn’t too bad, though having to buy $100 worth takes some of the deal out of the deal.

While these are truly “near” industrial I find I prefer the more amateur translucent models commonly available at Costco (and others?) for around $10. Simply because I can see what the heck is in them! And as I never stack more the 4 or 5 high within my (indoor) use they never sag or collapse. In maybe 15 or more years…

This is a decent price. I’ve been able to get Quantum attached-lid bins for around the same price from Zoro. I bought a bunch of those to prep the garage to move. We also used them to move my wife’s library, so they can take the weight.
I also have some of the clear, consumer-level bins as well. Most of those bins were damaged during the move despite having a much lighter load than these style bins.
If you’re looking for something bigger, I’d also suggest looking at the Orbis recycled bins. 2.7ft^3 bins can be had for $20 (less w/ coupon at Zoro).

I simply won’t order these types of products from Zoro again. In my last shipment, 2/3 boxes had multiple damaged containers.
My replacement order from Enco arrived in a lot better shape, for only a few dollars more.
These are rated at 65 lbs stacking, or something like that. I have some of mine in stacks, others on steel wire shelves.
I used to be a fan of translucent bins as well, but broke quite a few of them. These seem to be made with a more durable plastic.
There is a version of this made with translucent white plastic: $21 at Amazon.

I don’t see a load capacity anywhere, but I expect that these are not rated for a stack of 5 at 65 pounds each. The top has fewer stiffeners than the tops of the 39120 series.
By the way, thanks for posting this deal. I probably would have missed it and they will come in handy for an upcoming move and combination of households.

I’m not a big fan of the lid with the seam down the middle. I have never owned any myself but I have used some when I worked at a hardware store (no idea what brand). It did not seem like it would be very watertight. I may be wrong, but I would think water would run right into the center, which really defeats the purpose of having a plastic box.

Are replacement lids available? Several of mine have seen better days. While the body of the tote is near indestructible, the lids are not.

I bought 6 of the larger ones and 6 of the medium ones. Very happy with them and they fit perfectly where they need to go.

I have small and medium sizes as well, and can’t say whether one is better than the other. I can’t say I’ve been interested in the largest size, though. If I need something larger, I would want it to be longer and wider as well as deeper.

Not on sale but still a good price. I already built shelves a while back and these things fit like the shelves were designed for them lucky enough. Even a 8th bigger each and they wouldn’t have fitted where i needed them to.
I wish i had ordered 6 more of the medium ones whilst they were on sale. They are saying $166 now.
