Best Early Labor Day 2023 Tool Deals?

Early Labor Day 2023 Tool Deals

According to mass media websites, “early Labor Day” tool sales have kicked off, with the promise of “deep savings” on cordless power tools, hand tools, and more, and via a “plethora” of tool sales right now.

Early Labor Day 2023 tool deals? I took a quick look to see if I could find any notable deals.

Here’s Amazon’s main deals page, and here are all of their tool deals. There’s not much, aside from the Dewalt tool deals that I recently posted about.

Amazon has a lot of discounted 3rd party listings, such as Makita’s 18V X2 cordless circular saw for $88. I’m guessing that most of those 3rd party deals were purchased as part of promo bundles from Home Depot and then parted out for resale.

What about Home Depot? They have just 4 labor day tool deals up right now. They’re decent promos, but not enough to justify hyping up “early Labor Day” tool deals.

Home Depot also has a huge Super Savings Tool Deals event going on right now, some of which are really good bargains. This, I think, is the best collection of tool promos and bundles going on right now, at least with respect to cordless power tools.

Lowe’s has some promos, with all kinds of end dates depending on the products, with some spanning through the start of November.

Acme Tools has an end-of-season sale on Dewalt cordless outdoor power tools right now, and a couple of other promos.

Ohio Power Tools has a Flex flash sale.

Tool Nut has various tool deals right now.

KC Tool has 15% off all Knipex tools, with the discount automatically appearing after you add eligible tools to your cart.

Labor Day is 2-1/2 weeks away, and while it is a big shopping weekend, I’m not seeing many notable early tool sales right now.

Well, there are some deals and promos, but none that I can see as being specifically connected to Labor Day. Maybe more special promotions will materialize between now and then.

I expected more, given all of the “early Labor Day” hype I’ve been seeing.

I think that we will see some decent deals as part of Amazon’s second 2-day Prime Day sales event in October, as it now essentially marks the beginning of the winter holiday shopping season.

I’ll keep looking for more deals.

It’s our 5th annual going out of business sale. So tired of Black Friday in June and Cyber Monday in February. Thanks for putting it on the radar. Toolguyd always gives a fair and balanced analysis. There are deals there; to be sure, but nothing worth a special trip. Appreciate all the objective information.

      Thanks, I try my best!

With some of the mass media coverage of tool deals these days, I find myself sometimes yelling at my phone or computer “THATS NOT A DEAL!!”

$139 for something on Amazon that will be $99 at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Acme, and other authorized dealers in just a few weeks? How would that help anyone?

I’ve already started to see “early Black Friday” deal guides, which is utterly ridiculous.

Some deals are worth looking at, such as the Knipex 15% promo, but we’re soon entering a “stick your wallet back in your pants and don’t buy it yet unless you really need it right now” period.

It helps Bezos. I feel sorry for people who don’t pay as much attention to tools as you (or us all) do, because these are obviously designed to catch them.

Amazon hasn’t sent out any “early Labor Day” communications to affiliates, or at least I hadn’t seen any. This is all the doing of mass media companies and their “shopping and product experts.”

I assume “hasn’t” – sounds to me like someone (not necessarily Amazon mind you) is using submarine pr: http://www.paulgraham.com/submarine.html

Or maybe I’m just a suspicious old bastard.

            @TomD,

            Sorry, *hasn’t*.

No – given the nature of what is being promoted, I don’t think it’s PR feeding these stories, but retail affiliate revenue-building strategies.

There’s a lot of content these days that is just mindless, with zero practical benefit.

One “deal” I saw before Prime Day was for a Leatherman Micra multi-tool at 2X its normal price on Amazon. How’s that “on sale”??

Any content creator who has ever looked at the Micra before that day would know it wasn’t a deal. The goal there was likely just to get the reader through the door with an affiliate click.

If there are any repeated recommendations, it could be because mainstream media “product experts” are copying from each other.

In my experience, Amazon has not promoted 3rd party reseller products or sellers as part of major sales events.

I’ve spotted one going out of business sale that seems legit:

I just want ONE Powerstack 5AH to try. I can see that the deal of a 2-pack of these comes to about $133 each. Where a single one, from some online vendor, its $149 each. But I can see replacing my pair of standard 5AH Dewalts with flatpack versions if lighter… and I can pass on the old packs to friend that is on 2AH regular batteries…
But nice to see the 2AH Powerstacks cheaper now.
