Black Friday 2021 Tool Deal Tips, Questions, Discussions, Watchlist

If you buy something through our links, ToolGuyd might earn an affiliate commission.

This is our official Black Friday 2021 post for any tips, questions, or related comments.

I have started to lose track of where I’ve been seeing unanswered questions, and so it’s time to republish this post to bring it to the top of the homepage.

I also removed the separate flash sales and doorbusters post that was up for a few hours on 11/18, as it makes more sense to instead include a summary in the main Black Friday directory page when deals go live, and full details in store-related sections or deal guides.

Hi Stuart, thanks for all the hard work on this year’s deals! I was wondering if the DeWalt cordless framing nailers ever get a deal around black Friday? I don’t recall ever seeing anything in the past. Thanks again.

You’re welcome, and thank you! You guys make the time and effort well worth it!

I don’t recall seeing any cordless framing nailer deals, and didn’t find anything in my quick search either.

They *might* be included in deals of the day or similar limited-time deals, but they generally aren’t a “special buy” type of product.

Home Depot usually has air framing nailer deals as part of their PRO Black Friday event, but not cordless.

Thanks Stuart. That’s why I haven’t bought a cordless nailer yet. Its one of those tools that would be nice to have, but I have air nailers. It would save me a little hassle of dragging out the compressor, but I don’t really need one.

I saw this Milwaukee tool deal that includes the cordless framing nailer. Still trying to decide if I should go for it, with the jigsaw as the free tool.

That seems like a decent deal.

With that bundle, you save $30 compared to buying the combo kit + free bonus tool and framing nailer separately at what does look to be a small “special buy” discount.

Thanks! I’ll do some more research on this in the morning.

      ETA is Q4 2021.

Retailers don’t have preorder pages yet.

There are tools launching mid-December, and so it’s possible, but I wouldn’t have my hopes up. Even if it launches in December, launch quantities might be limited.

With all the Covid-related delays this past year+, I don’t recall seeing any miter saw deals (Black Friday 2020, fathers’ day 2021, summer 2021…).
Any chance we might see a (Dewalt) miter deal in the near future?

There are some deals, but not many. I don’t know if that’s because of supply or demand. I’ve been made aware or shortages by readers who had trouble finding certain models or styles of saws.

Miter saws – and table saws – also take up a lot of container space which could otherwise be allocated to a greater value of smaller power tools.

That being said, there could still be reduced supplies being held back for the period between Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday.

Stuart, do you think DeWalt will make a corded sliding 10” miter saw again any time soon? I feel like it’s the perfect size for a lot of site work, barring larger crown and base or 4x material, but they don’t make one anymore. Thanks for all your work on these deals!

          I really don’t know.

Economics come into play. If demand is higher for sliding 12″ saws, and supplies have not caught up to that demand, there won’t be any rush to introduce a sliding 10″ saw. What if lower sales volume projections mean that a 10″ saw cannot be sold for less than a 12″ saw?

There isn’t enough information or industry trends for me to do anything but guess wildly.

Ah, well. Thanks for the insight on it! There are other options for it, but DeWalt miter saws are usually a nice, capable choice.

If you were buying a dewalt miter saw which would you look out for? 779 w/ LED addition? 780 or Flexvolt

          • Stuart

            Nov 18, 2021

Do you need cordless? FlexVolt. It is a BEAST of a saw. However, I didn’t check this, but was told by others that it performed a little better with battery power than AC power due to 15A limits.

Do I *need* a new miter saw, or do I *want* one? Want? I’d wait for a DWS780 + free stand promo (if I wanted the stand). But, the DWS780 looks to have raised in price.

(The DWS779 isn’t guaranteed to be compatible with LED upgrade hacks.)

But if I *needed* a miter saw and couldn’t wait? DWS779.

There are slight differences, but none that really impact me, except for the shadow light which can be remedied using unofficial part swaps.

How would 120V 15A limit a tool more than 60V (flexvolt) and anything less than 30A?

          • Stuart

            Nov 19, 2021

The miter saw is a 120V Max tool.

2 batteries in 60V Max mode can output well more than 15A each.

      Nov 2, 2021

I know it doesn’t help much, but I snagged an old stock miter saw from grainger of all places. 311ish before tax on the DW716XPS. (Not DWS)

The only one I wanted more was the DHS716 (bare or batt combo). But those are over 700ish now.

I did get a birthday coupon for Amazon Visa for 10% off, so I got the 10″ table saw from them DWE7491RS.

Looking for good quality/decently-priced reversible ratcheting combination end wrench sets both metric and SAE that go fairly large, at least to 1” and 24mm, a bit larger is even better. Sets that only go up to around 3/4 and 18 mm or so are of no interest to me, thanks.

I hate not having a better answer, but that’s a “wait for Black Friday or Cyber Monday coupons” kind of product.

Home Depot has a good price on Milwaukee ratcheting wrench sets, but they’re not reversible.

I would bet on there being a Gearwrench promo, although I haven’t seen one yet. You might want to search for a couple of SKUs you’re interested in now, and then just watch the pricing.

Home Depot has a ProExtra promotion in which members (I am a member) can get a fairly good discount right now on a 16 pc metric and a 13 pc SAE, Gearwrench ratcheting reversing combination wrenchs. Both together were $384, now both would be $274. I think I might just do that, thanks. I didn’t know about it until I signed in to my ProExtra acct and clicked on those, and a discounted price came up. No idea how it works.

Edit- I ordered them and the discounted price was confirmed and I already received an email that they have shipped.

Kind of a waiting game I suppose? Every retailer is spouting “Early Black Friday Deals” and I haven’t been too impressed as of yet with most deals! Offering Black Friday Deals Early is something that many retailers started a few years ago whether it was Walmart, Sears, Kohl’s, etc. They know that whomever bleeds the money from the wallets first wins! Now we have Black Friday a whole month early and perhaps next year we will have a Black Friday the day after Christmas? I realize there are many factors at play here with the covid, social distancing, severe product availability at the port backups in LA etc that set this Christmas apart from any other and it will be interesting to see how it all plays out when the end of Season numbers come in.

Anyhow it comes down to separating a person from their money and we have to make decisions of when and how much money that will be. Again, I haven’t seen any “truly deep Black Friday discounts” and I would classify them more as price reductions but I am still waiting.

Hello, I haven’t seen the Acme Tools Dewalt deal posted yet where you can get the DCK2100P2 combo kit and two free tools for $399. Considering three of the four free tool options seem to be really solid choices, this looks like a great deal. The kit itself occasionally drops to $299, but even then, that means you’re paying $50 a piece for the two extra bare tools, a steal considering the two saws retail around $199. I’ve posted a link below to the kit and you can choose the free tools in the cart. Am I missing something that makes it not as worthwhile as it appears?

Just saw the ryobi 18v 7-1/4″ miter saw is priced at $99 at HD nominally as part of their black friday deals
Ive had one for a number of years and highly recommend it for its portability and good enough for many tasks.
From what ive noticed its rarely priced that low as a bare tool and stays in stock. I looked for a while when i bought mine and ended up getting it in a kit.
I wouldnt recommend it for chopping lots of 2x stock and like most miter saws it helps putting a half-decent blade in it(although i honestly never used the stock blade). Its especially handy if you have to move your tools between jobs frequently.

I tend to focus on a small group of retailers, primarily since they cover 98% of the deals readers are interested in, they’re accessible, and in the case of the independent suppliers, I know who to call when a reader asks for my help. I like to be able to vouch for the retailers we promote, whether intentionally or incidentally.
