Black Friday 2015 Table Saw Deals

Nov 13, 2015 Stuart 29 Comments

If you buy something through our links, ToolGuyd might earn an affiliate commission.

A few people have asked about whether there are any good table saw deals for Black Friday this year. I have come across a couple, and am hoping that you guys will leave comments about any other especially good deals that you find.

Generally, I think you’ll only see Black Friday deals on portable table saws, and not larger stationary saws. Just because these saws are portable, doesn’t mean you can’t or shouldn’t use them in your home workshop.

Don’t forget that most portable table saws, miter saws, and other benchtop, corded, or cordless saws often come with general purpose starter blades. You’ll probably want to budget for a higher quality blade, at least at some point. I’d buy a good blade at the same time as a saw, only using the blade it comes with to make sure the saw is set up, calibrated, and working properly.

It’s too soon to know whether the deals mentioned here will be any better on or around Black Friday 2015, but they’re definitely at their holiday sale prices already.

Dewalt DW745

Dewalt DW745 Table Saw

The Dewalt DW745 table saw has an excellent fence, and I really liked how it carried. Although not as compact as the Bosch GTS1031 table saw I reviewed, the DW745 carries easier.

It’s precise, it’s plenty powerful, and 2 years ago Dewalt updated it with a new wider ripping capacity. Dewalt has some new table saws out on the market, but none at this price point.

The DW745 is a bargain at $299. It’s been this price for a while, but stores (mainly Home Depot) have them packaged and advertised as a special buy. I believe that Dewalt might eventually only produce and sell these during holiday seasons, but I don’t think that’s happened yet.

All that said, do NOT buy it yet. It *might* be eligible for Dewalt’s annual holiday $25 off $100 or similar discount, and last year Dewalt really slashed the price in mid-December to clear out remaining saws as fast as they could. I would wait at least until the holiday promo is out, to see if the $25 discount applies, before buying one.

Update: Nope, the $25 off $100+ discount does NOT apply to this table saw.

Bosch GTS1031

Bosch GTS1031 Portable Table Saw

Bosch’s GTS1031 portable table saw, which we reviewed here, is compact, yet powerful. I really like how it can be stowed away easily for storage or transport.

I was really hoping that the Bosch Reaxx table saw would be out by now, but it seems to have been delayed, potentially by SawStop’s lawsuit.

Bosch’s $25 off $100 holiday discount doesn’t knock anything off the $349 holiday price, which is a shame. I’ve seen lower prices on this saw before, but hey – $349 is better than $399, right?

Craftsman

Craftsman Table Saw Sears Black Friday 2015 Deal

Over at Sears, their 10″ table saw and stand combo is on sale for $290 in stores, and even less online – I’m seeing a current price of $273. You could order online for in-store pickup, or home delivery.

It seems to have decent reviews, and also some nice features such as the included stand, extending work support wings, and a dust collection bag. It also has a laser guidance system (yuck).

Ridgid R4513 Table Saw with Folding Roller Stand

Ridgid R4513 Portable Table Saw with Roller Stand

Ridgid’s R4513 portable table saw with roller stand has already dropped to its typical holiday price of $399. It sees solid user reviews year-round, and so it isn’t a “holiday special.”

My local Home Depot has a lot of these in stock – 14 of them – and so maybe there will be an additional discount or Black Friday discount.

Update: This portable table saw is rumored to go on sale for $299 on Black Friday. (Ridgid Black Friday 2015 Tool Deals)

Ridgid R45161 Table Saw

Ridgid has another portable table saw, the R4516, which popped up a couple of years ago on sale, and then it appeared last year again, for $199. It seems that this particular saw is a “special buy” that only appears during the holiday season.

Update: This saw WILL be on sale, online only, for $199.

Did You Find Any Good Deals?

Bosch’s GTS1031 ($349 via Amazon) might be discounted this year, or maybe Bosch’s annual holiday discount will apply, or maybe both things will happen. Update: Nope, it looks like the Bosch saw is fixed at $349 right now.

The same might be true for their 4100 table saw, which is hugely popular, but I don’t think so. That’s not really a DIYer or woodworker table saw, due to its higher price and more jobsite-friendly stand. The same could be said about the above Ridgid, but it does have a $100 discount right now, which I don’t think I have ever seen on the Bosch 4100 or Dewalt’s higher end jobsite saws.

There are bound to be a couple of $100 to $150 portable table saw deals, but I generally don’t have much faith in their quality.

Did you find any good table saw deals that you’d like to share? Maybe there was a deal you took advantage of in the past that we should keep our eyes out for this year?

In past years Ridgid had a granite-topped table saw that was heavily discounted around holiday time, but I haven’t seen it in a couple of years.

Just an FYI – for some dumb reason Home Depot insists on the “special buy” tag for the DeWalt being inked directly onto the cardboard box.

What this means for you is that after the special buy promo ends (i.e. after BF and Xmas) WHEN (not if) they have a million of them leftover, they are pretty much forced to clearance them out.

IIRC they got down to about $75.00 last year around February.

The lowest price I saw was $225 last December (https://14cyiuhvcgv.com/dewalt-10-portable-table-saw-dw745-deal-h2014/%3C/a%3E%29, and I think that cleared out any remaining stock at most stores, maybe even their online warehouse.

I got one for a penny this year In February after Black Friday. Just got the Dewalt DW7440RS Rolling Table Saw Stand for 69.99 shipped from Rakuten after applying for there credit card. Great deal ended up 70 dollars for the whole package.

Didnt want to mention that myself, but yes they were down to a penny (typical Home Depot way of marking something as “inactive”)

While they were officially 225 on the website, in store the prices dropped to 150, then 75 then the penny level. The key was finding one. No they werent actually out on the sales floor but they WERE in the store, regardless of what their inventory said.

How And When Do You Look And Find These Penny Deals?

        • Stuart

          Nov 13, 2015

I’m surprised they let you buy that. I’ve heard of people getting away with “penny deals” at self-checkout, but you can’t exactly scan a table saw yourself on one of those machines.

Well my penny deal, one of many, I was stopped by the cashier when it rang up. She called over the head cashier and he scanned it with his hand held and told me Merry Christmas, and it was actually free :). I normally pay for the last clearance price which normally 75% off, but that’s the price it rang up as, so it is what it is. Of course stores vary with what the manager allows them to sell to you.

Normally when things hit a penny that is when they are supposed to be pulled from the shelves and sent back to the distribution warehouse. Penny SKUs are not supposed to be left out for sale. In my store if you get to the register with a penny SKU they sell it to you. They look at it as their fault for not pulling it from the sales floor.

I almost bought the 745. if you have a safe table to put it on – or plan to rigging some other stand etc. it’s a great buy. The X stand sold with the 7490 should work on it too since they appear to have the same tube chassis.

I have a 7490 and I’d highly highly suggest splurging if you can find it in your table saw budget. dado capability, potential longer rips – bigger table and included stand.

the stand is awesome in how simple it’s rigged. you don’t have to bolt the saw on it there’s a nifty tongue that will capture the front bar and the back bar has a channel. stand takes much less room folded – even comes apart with 4 bolts or shortens.

I bought the DWE7480 which came with a DW7450 scissor stand. Looks similar to the DWE7490 except while you can set the saw on it, you pretty much want to bolt it in place so you can easily move everything out of the way. the 7490 must have a different attachment system? The DWE7480 has a 24″ rip, and that seems to be the main difference between it and the DW745. Great little saw.

I also bought the ridgid portable work support which works great as an outfeed table.

Hoping to score a cheap DW745 this year. I managed to get the 12″ sliding compound miter DeWalt for $100 in Feb or so last year.

Yea the miter saw was also on clearance last year, found one at 150, but since I already have a Bosch 12 glide miter saw that the Lowe’s by me had dropped the price down to 140 last year I passed on the Dewalt. Would have been nice to have a matching set of Dewalts.

WHAAT? You picked up a Bosch glide saw for $140??? Or did you mean $140 off the price, so approximately $460-ish plus tax out the door? If you actually got a 12″ axial glide for $140, then you officially got the best tool bargain in relative value I’ve ever encountered.

I am still waiting for the Bosch Reaxx… if they ever release it. My local tool store is tired of me popping in just to ask if it is available yet.
Hello Bosch, as far as I can tell it is in fact already Fall 2015.

        fred,

be careful there…you’re bordering on libel. Obviously the Sawstop guy(I refuse to refer to him by name ever) is all about SAFETY! He wants to safely narrow the “competition”(that Mom-n-Pop Bosch outfit) and safely expand his market. Likewise he wants to safely create a monopoly by safely holding on to his patents with both claws. Thus, safely acquiring wealth. Ideally, the most wealth.

If he’s lucky he just might safely accumulate redundant amounts of money. I’m sure you know that engineers highly value redundancy in systems to promote SAFETY.

He’s really the victim here of corporate/state collusion. OSHA is probably behind this. I mean if you have a useful safety technology that legitimately saves fingers, even lives sometimes, it’s only decent to exploit that opportunity to the max.

Bout 15 years ago it seems, we came across Sawstop booth at a trade show up in WI. Saw their pitch…stopped being interested immediately.

Lowe’s had their lowest end Skil table saw around $50-60 on BF a few years ago. I think last year or the year before they had the same Skil saw at $99, but de-branded in a really weird move for some reason, because it was the same color and model and it was pretty obvious it was a Skil with different stickers.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive table saw, Lowe’s might have another $99 deal again. Might be a Hitachi, or some other weird de-branding thing.

The less expensive saws aren’t going to excel at precision work, so I’d avoid using them for cabinetry or other tight-tolerance master craftsman woodwork, but with a decent blade, they are excellent for most homeowner tasks or general building.

Go for the HD ridgid deal…. they also have the dewalt dw745…… It has no dado option so its a no go for me but if thats not important go for it…

Also ANYONE have any experience with the KOBALT table saw at Lowes? its the one similar looking to the PC with the wheeled stand. Looks nice enough for the price.

I’ve had my heart set on the GTS1031 but I may wait it out for the new SKIL worm drive coming this spring…. not sure though.

I kinda like what I have seen about the Ridgid R4512, but it does not look like it is going to be discounted on BF, even to the relatively recent $529 price. I have a $199 table saw and am ready to move up a bit.

Is the R4513 a decent saw? I was looking at the DW745 which is also a special buy but I read it does not support a dado stack. My Home Depot also a few Bosch GTS1031 saws on clearance for $300 so I’m just not sure which one is best at the $300 price point. I’ll be using it mainly for woodworking and home projects.

I really don’t know anything about that model. If I were shopping for myself, I would either put the same $200 towards Ridgid’s “special buy” table saw that comes without a stand, or budget an extra $100 to get the Ridgid saw with stand combo.

I went ahead and bought the R4513 saw since it accepts a dado blade, which the Dewalt did not. I can see where they cheaped out on some things after assembly but I think it will be a pretty good saw.
