Earlier in the month, Bosch’s PS21 12V Max cordless screwdriver was on sale for $80, which I thought was a heck of a good price. Actually, $80 was a fantastic price.
Now, it’s dropped to $70 with free shipping, which is unbelievably good.

Here’s the previous deal post and PS21 screwdriver discussion. The PS21 Pocket Driver has never been this cheap, at least not to my knowledge. Online price tracker services agree with this.
Even if you’re only slightly interested in the cordless screwdriver, don’t forget that this kit comes with (2) 2.0Ah Li-ion battery packs. If you already bought into Bosch’s 12V Max lineup, keep in mind that the (2) battery starter kit also costs $69.
So for $69 you get 2 batteries, a charger and an L-Boxx, or for $70 you get 2 batteries, a charger, and a cordless screwdriver. Both deals are great bargains.

The Milwaukee M12 drills put out more torque for very similar prices. I own both Bosch 12V and Milwaukee M12, the M12 (none-Fuel version) definitely have more power. I’ve been switching all my Bosch cordless tools to Milwaukee over the last year.

For those who still want the tool at a similar deal price, lots of Lowe’s stores have these for the $79.95 price, and you can apply a $10 off $50 coupon online to make it $69.95 + tax. However, some Lowe’s stores still have the older kits with the BAT412 batteries, not the newer BAT414 2.0Ah, so you may want to go in-store to check before buying.
Since Lowe’s and Amazon are both getting rid of these, and my local Lowes have filled in the spot these were in once they were gone, my guess is Bosch is discontinuing the PS21, possibly in favor of the brushless PS22. Not sure if this will be the case going forward for the 12V Max line, if the brushed tools will all be discontinued and everything will be brushless going forward. Might not be a bad thing if higher brushless tool production brings costs and prices down.

That was kind of my question … Im well invested in the bosch 12v, i prefer the ergonomics and run time over m12s. I am curious as to whether, in anyones opinion, they are phasing out the brushed models in favor of the brushless? And if this is the case what is the actual trade of for going either way?
The brushed guy has the 2ah batts and 265 in lbs of torque which seems a great rating for such a compact, quick hex but no battery gauge.
The brushless comes in around 180 in lbs i believe with the same batts and includes batt gauge, belt clip(which is a key factor to me key) and the brushless motor with the same rmps as the previous model.
Basically, which is the better buy? The brushed at $70 now or the brushless which may drop to $99 like last yr at any given moment?

Despite the advertised torque ratings, every head to head comparison shows the brushless 12v bosch drills beating the brushed models hands down on tough drilling tasks, like large spade bits. This is with the same batteries being used so it’s not like the brushless tools get an advantage because of the higher cap batteries.

I don;t see why Bosch would replace the brushed models when they typically sell at lower price points than the brushless ones. Plus, they haven’t even brought brushless 12V Max impact driver or other tools to the USA.
Brushless are better – more compact, more efficient motors, and Bosch said they perform comparably to the brushed.
Brushed are less expensive, giving you more bang for the buck.

If you are looking for the PS21-2A still, be sure to check your local Lowes as they are on clearance at some of my local locations. My local Lowes had a sign posted for $37 but was out of stock. Another local Lowes had 2 on hand for $28 (tax included). A Lowes in another nearby city still has them for $99. Not sure why the prices are not consistent, but I got one for $28 including tax. Best tool deal ever for me!
