This is not Bosch’s latest and greatest 18V compact drill/driver kit – that would be the DDS181 ($159 via Amazon) – but it’s still very capable and comes with two Li-ion battery packs. These are not Bosch’s latest higher-capacity compact batteries either, but you get more with two of these than with one of those pricier packs.
At $99, this is one of the best valued 18V drill/driver kits currently available. We’re not sure how long the sale price will be valid for, but we’re hoping it extends through the holiday season.

It’s an ok deal I guess, but it’s pretty meh compared to what else is available. The 1.3ah battery packs don’t have the charge indicators, and it doesn’t come in an L-Boxx. For the money, I’d get this 2-tool combo kit instead; for $220 you get better batteries, an impact driver, and two L-Boxxes.
Stuart
I bought that combo, sans L-Boxxes, and it has worked out well.
In the $90-$100 price range, there are very few pro-grade 18V drill kit options, and they are all seasonal. Dewalt offers a large and heavy NiCd drill kit, while Makita and Milwaukee offer 1-battery Li-ion kits.
This Bosch kit is one of the very few value kits that come bundled with 2 batteries.
For frequent use, I would – and did – opt for a better featured drill and impact driver kit.
But not everyone wants to spend more than $100 or $200 on a cordless drill. For those types of users and shoppers, this is one of the best bargain options I’ve seen.

The name is pro. but the drill is not that great its got competition in the 12v range..
Homeowner grade with a pro name..
Stuart
The DDB180 drill is a regular Bosch product and not a special model built only for holiday sales.

I don’t know if it’s Pro or not, Bosch generally makes very good stuff, but it is worthwhile to point out that this is the 3/8″ model and not the 1/2″ chuck. I have an earlier 1/2″ chuck with two 1.5aH non-meter batteries that I got about 3 years ago for $99 on a closeout deal. It has a longer nose than the current 1/2″ model. I did and still do consider that a very good deal.
Stuart
That’s a good point. I added mention of the 3/8″ chuck into the post, thanks!

This drill is much better than the entry level 99 dollar 20v drill Dewalt is offering this year.
