Bosch 18V DDB181 Cordless Drill Kit Deal

Over at Acme Tools, they have a couple of end-of-year tool deals, including this Bosch 18V cordless drill/driver kit, DDB181-02.

For a limited time, you can pick it up for just $59 with free ground shipping. That’s a very good price for this basic Bosch 18V cordless drill kit. It comes with (2) Li-ion batteries, charger, and a tool bag.

If you want to buy two, coupon code 20BOSCH takes $20 off $100+, which drops the price from $118 to $98. $49 each for an 18V cordless drill kit is a very good price, especially for a brand like Bosch, even if this is a compact entry-level model.

Price: $59

Great to see a bit of pricing offensive with Bosch. It still would take a winning lotto ticket for me to switch (like they asked recently), as for me, they’re a few years late and many tools short, to match what I have in Orange and Lime and get matching EU imports.

Nice deal for a beginner who just needs to do anchors in a wall or something.

I own many bosch corded tools (like the 12 inch gliding miter saw, and their 6″ dual orbital sander) but their cordless platform is a joke. They have gimmicky tools like “the freak”, their overall cordless tool platform selection is sparse, and they’ve had years to change that.

I have this drill, along with cordless drills from Dewalt, Porter Cable and Ridgid. I like it. It’s probably the least powerful drill I own yet still does 90%+ of what I need. The clutch is pretty good and it’s pretty compact and light.

It’s 4pm eastern time and this item is showing $159? Is the deal already dead?

Amazon also has it for $79 and eligible for $20 off $100+/

But $59 each and eligible for $20 off $100+ was a better deal.

I own many Bosch cordless tools and they are all great! Their batteries are some of the best you can buy and all of the tools are as professionally built as any other tool brand on the market. I’ve beaten all of my tools and they all still run great. Yes their tool selection in THIS country is a little limited compared to some but world-wide offer all the tools most everyone would need. Maybe the name “the freak” is a little gimmicky but the tools themselves are not. As far as reliability they are as good as they come. I think to say their cordless platform is a “joke” is extremely far fetched and an uneducated statement.

I agree with most of your statement, but as a fellow Bosch fan, are you really telling me that they aren’t super good at letting us down? Even outside of the cordless range; the newer Colt is amazing…but..wait..what is this… the fixed base has zero dust extraction? ?. They kept hyping that one angle grinder with the LED, released it super late and only as a kit… they discontinued the supposedly awesome screwgun before we even knew it existed…dropped all of the finish nailers…just poof…the “freak 2” has been here a year but they are also going through the trouble of packaging the older model with the 21700 batteries to be sold here…like all sorts of head scratchers…I could go on…

I tried “the Freak” and found it to be under powered for an 18volt. Only power tool I ever took back for a refund.

The first one was nice but wimpy. The new one bothers to catch up.
For an impact driver, I’d keep my Makita over it, and I’d definitely also recommend the flagship Hitachi, Dewalt/Craftsman and Milwaukee offerings over it. Alas, I already had the batteries and everyone who uses my “Freak 2” is in love with it. If I’m expecting nuts and bolts (under 19mm) as much as screws, it comes with me. The only downside is that the design requires 1/2” sockets and so you end up buying ball dentent nut setters for the smaller size anyway.

The one Bosch product I bought and retired are the Dare devil
Spade drill bits . The wings tend to hang up in green 2×8’s and if you are not careful they get hung up and kick the drill back. I think a petite person could break their arm if they are not careful.

Novel idea but too aggressive .
