Bosch MXH180 Brushless Multi-Tool

We wanted to give away a cordless oscillating multi-tool as part of our 2013 Giveaway Bonanza, but that wasn’t all. It had to be the BEST cordless multi-tool. Luckily the choice was easy. We partnered with Bosch to give away a brand new 18V brushless oscillating multi-tool prize package!

The Prize: A Bosch MXH180BL 18V cordless multi-tool, SKC181-101 charger and Li-ion battery starter package, AND an array of Bosch OIS multi-tool accessories.

Why? You can read more about why we consider this to be the best cordless oscillating multi-tool, but here are four quick reasons: lots of power, ease of use, quick blade changes, and great runtime.

We are also fans of Bosch OIS multi-tool accessories and use them almost exclusively, as they perform well and don’t need to be replaced too often.

Choices: There aren’t really any options to choose from, but we can try to accommodate the winner’s preference for certain types of accessories.

How to Enter: Leave a comment below with a brief note about how you would use the multi-tool. Would you use it more for cutting, sanding, grinding, or scraping tasks?

Winner Selection: (1) winner will be selected at random.

Rules: You must have a non-PO Box continental USA address. Entry period ends Jan 3rd, 2014. One entry per person.

Prize Fulfillment: Bosch is sponsoring the giveaway and will handle prize fulfillment.

I love Bosch 12v tools! I have a few, including several L-Boxxes. This OMT would be a great addition.

I will soon be building a built-in bookshelf and window seat at my house. The Bosch OMT would be awesome for flush cutting floor molding and crown molding, scraping surfaces on the floor, and then for final detail sanding of hard to reach areas.

Thanks for the opportunity and Merry Christmas!

I have been shopping around for an oscillating tool for a while now, reviewing and comparing different models and have decided that I definitely want a cordless model. I have come down to this Bosch tool or possibly the new DeWalt one. This seems like it would be easier to handle then the slightly awkward looking DeWalt.

I would use it to cut drywall for patches or to install backer board, cutting trim to install flooring, cutting holes in cabinets for electricity or pluming, cutting dowels and plugs flush, plunge cuts for wood floor repairs, scraping old caulking, detail sanding in corner and inside edges. And I’m sure there are plenty more applications I’m not yet aware of.

I’d use it for trimming + sanding of carbon fiber and fiberglass composite components. I’ve heard good things about reduced dust generation with these compared to using a dremel or die grinder – that would be phenomenal if true, as the dust is NASTY stuff. Even with a dust collection system it seems to get everywhere.

I’ve never used a oscillating tool but I continue to have projects where I wish I had one to do an efficient and accurate job. Tile work, cutting door jambs comes to mind first. Sanding hard to reach places, like staircases, furniture would be a time saver. Bosch appliances and auto products are tops so I figure this would perform at the same level. I like the L-Boxx system to manage lots of related storage issues.

Just bought a steam shower to replace the existing deteriorated one. This tool is ideal for cutting the drywall around the flanges of the old fiberglass shower. This can be used to to cut the perfect rectangular on the wall for the new electrical box. In addition, it can be use for cutting new sections of water and drainage pipes, sanding the edges of the new tile floor, removing the old glue from the concrete after removing the old wood floor.

I’ll admit I love my Fein, picked up when Home Depot was marking down the bag special model. I bided my time watching them inch down and finally bit. It is like the jack of all trades tool, with multiple uses around the house and yard. If I were given this tool, I’d use it on my new truck that I’m looking to restore, and I’d love to have a multi tool to keep on my work truck, because using a damn sawzall or angle grinder on jobsites can become very heavy and annoying, not to mention very loud. The rotozip we use is unbelievably loud to use in a customers house when all we have to do is add a few plug boxes here and there. I like the cordless design and would love to be able to expand my tool collection.

Many times I put off a little project here, or didn’t trim up something there, because of the hassle of finding an unused outlet, stringing a cord, and then putting everything away again. I did a little work on some trim ouside of the house, and the extension cord seems to be either in the way, or too short. A cordless version would help me finish my honey-do list much quicker.

We use oscillating tools all the time in the set shop where I work. The thin kerf of the blade and limited blade travel make them ideal for plunge cutting access holes and making modifications on existing structures. The sanding pads are great for accessing tight corners as well. It’d be great to have a cordless saw to take piñon stage.

Been considering buying a oscillating multi-tool for awhile now. Been more than a few instances where it would save me time and money. I’d use it mostly for cutting sheetrock, trim and moulding.

To be honest, I really didn’t think much of multi-tools until recently. After I accepted the idea of the multi-tool, I realized that I have put off a few jobs around the house, because I don’t own one. Our master shower needs a re-tile. There are some pipes in the garage that I need to cut back. Various molding needs to replaced. A multi-tool would prove invaluable in making these jobs quicker and look more professional.

I discovered that my corded Porter Cable oscillating tool fitted with a scraper blade does a great job removing caulk, but it feels really dangerous climbing up and down the ladder with a long extension cord. A cordless oscillating tool would fit right in my tool belt and I wouldn’t have to worry about tripping on the cord on my way up or down the ladder.

Cutting PVC pipe, installing electrical boxes in drywall, trimming molding for flooring, sanding out my new cast iron pan for easier seasoning, gunsmithing tasks, carving etc, The list goes on and on!

The kitchen needs new counter tops, and the cabinets need to be repainted. I would definitely want this tool to do alot of sanding and cutting. I have been in the market for one for a while.

I am a home owner and I find myself getting into all kinds of project there is no telling how I would end up using this multi use tool, from sanding tight corners to cutting off that impossible cutt. Removing grout from tile. Not to mention that it would go good with my Bosch 18v drill and my Bosch 18v work sight radio. Then I guess I could put them on my Bosch miter stand. Awesome products.
