The deal ends at 3am 9/19/2013, unless supplies run out sooner (and there’s a good chance they will).

Laser distance measuring tools are often used outdoors, but can easily handle indoors measurements as well. This model is pretty affordably at its regular price of ~$80, but $63 out-the-door makes it an even better bargain.

The main advantages of laser distance measuring tools over ultrasonic ones are greater range, higher accuracy, and better resolution (precision). Name-brand ultrasonic distance measurers and estimators often have ranges of up to 40-50 feet and accuracies of ±0.5% (99.5% accuracy), which means ±3 inches at 50 feet. In contrast, this laser measuring tool would be accurate to ±1/16 inch at an even greater distance.

These, or a model which looks VERY similar, have been on clearance at my local HD for $59 for a long time, like at least a month. They have not moved them to the clearance section, still in the area with other measurement devices like this and tape measures. In fact they just brought in more of them (doesn’t really seem like clearance by definition, eh?) but the yellow price tag of $59 remains.

I think it is being moved for an updated model 140. I think the 140 model takes the 130’s place

@KL, I didn’t see these at my local Home Depot, and the online price looks to be fixed at $79. If the same model, these could be a regional deal.

@Greg, I haven’t heard about a 140 model, but I suppose that might explain the sale.

I picked up the 165 model at Lowe’s on clearance about 2 years ago and love it. I think in was a web purchase returned to the store and they were just trying to unload it, since it’s not something they carry in the store. A 130 for $63 is a good deal.

Am I the only one who hates products with AAA batteries?
    Still a good deal.

I typically don’t mind unless runtime is very short. AAAs allow for appreciably smaller devices than if AAs are used.
