Bosch showed off a bunch of new cordless power tools in an overseas video, with the most exciting – in my opinion – being an 18V 6-inch cordless sander.
Bosch has previously launched random orbit and multi-pad finish sanders, and it looks like a 150mm (6-inch) sander with similar design and ergonomics is next.
The new sander looks very compact compared to their existing corded model.

We previously reported that Bosch was launching new 18V cordless outdoor power tools, but I believe this is the first I’ve seen of a new pro-line cordless chainsaw.
There’s also a new 18V hedge trimmer, which Bosch previously showed off.
We already posted about the new Bosch cordless router, but we’ll follow Bosch’s lead and include it as a reminder.
Bosch is also launching what looks to be a cable cutter.
They recently launched new cordless press tools for plumbers and similar users, and the new cable cutter is a sign they’re also moving towards new solutions for electricians and other such tradespeople.
It’s hard to make out the details, but there’s a new smaller jobsite radio/speaker, perhaps a compact PowerBox.

Bosch also showed off two new cordless mixers.
Finally, they featured what looks to be a new cordless laser level.
And, it looks like you can swap out the power modules to be able to use 12V or (compact?) 18V batteries.
All of the announcements were made via Bosch in Europe; there hasn’t been any USA news or announcements yet.
Of the tools shown above, only the cordless router is confirmed to be launching in the USA; retailers have been accepting preorders for several weeks now.

As someone on both red and blue platforms, always nice to see developments which provide choice at purchase time.
Not sure why but the Bosch power box does twice on me (once under warranty) after very little use so I don’t think I’ll go back there again. The mixers and the router are interesting as I don’t have cordless of either of those tools yet.

I’d love to see the router in person whenever it makes it to the US. I think it would have to be exceptionally exceptional to best the M18 router, though. A lot of the features look the same and I’m sure their bi-turbo motor will deliver…the drop cut-out feature is the standout. I can’t see myself buying it unless possibly it runs well on the 4Ah battery, which it might, and where that would reduce some top-heavy weight. On the M18 you kind of need the 6.0 HO battery to keep up the oomph and run time unless you’re just doing small/simple edge trimming , small roundovers, etc for not too long…it’s a hoss of a tool, though, real winner.

I get a lot of chatter marks with the M18 router, leaves a very poor surface finish compared to my Makita, which is the only LXT tool I have left for that reason. Hopefully the Bosch can deliver the same quality as the Makita and power of the M18. The M18 is great for hogging out lots of material and dado’s where the LXT really struggles, but a fine finish tool it is not.

Not holding it steady? Dull bit? I’ve not experienced any chatter or anything but normal good cuts with mine except when it was my own oops like tilting it a bit. Pretty much worked every material at this point including 15mm expanded pvc. Unless it’s a bad collet or nut? I had beautiful rounds and ogees on canarywood and wenge…wenge being a little challenging sometimes with handheld but it turned out superb. Only other thing I could think of is a defective board where speed control isn’t constant.

Watched it when they put it out….always interesting seeing the salespeople pitch their pitches in another world, another language. Looking forward to some in-use videos for some of these tools…I think their next US gig is in Chicago in October so perhaps some will debut there? That’s a concrete/construction gig, though. Curious how the chainsaw will perform.

Chainsaw looks kinda funky. But I love where they put the bar oil cap. Too many chainsaws have them on the bottom right where the top handle comes down to go under the saw. Often the handle limits access to the oil fill cap. Good job Bosch

Excellent! Nice to see some genuine progress from Bosch here! Better sander, better router… Nice. New Mixers? Okay. Cool to see them going a tiny bit outside of woodworking, but I hope they don’t expect to make that permanent. It would be nice if these were accessorised with Resin in mind. A lot of people, including an adoptive Brother of mine, are really getting into Resin-composit Woodworking, and from a well-known Woodworking brand like Bosch? This would really be cool.

I am curious to see if we will get the mixers here in the US. Having lived in Germany for five years, there’s a lot of masonry construction there. You don’t find US “stick built” construction. That’s a big reason why Bosch and other German companies have excellent SDS drills and masonry tools. Quick story from those days: My landlord was a master mason (Mauermeister). I helped him stucco his house and they fed me lunch and dinner. It was a pretty good trade based on my youth and salary at the time. 🙂

Hopefully the 6” sander uses the same hole pattern as festool like the two other sanders do. The existing 5” sanders are fairly amazing, if just a tad not aggressive enough. Maybe the 6” will offer a higher max speed and larger orbit to fix that

I can confirm the chainsaw’s build quality based off a very similar model I’ve had for a few years. It is very sturdy, very quiet, good weight balance and excellent battery life, but it simply sucks cutting anything. My kids sure don’t mind the toy version at all.

Stuart, the new laser (GLL330-80CGN) and impact driver (GDR18V-1950CN) are also available to preorder through some US-based sellers (Like AcmeTools) and are also announced on Bosch’s US website.
The new laser looks very interesting. In addition to the 18V and 12V battery options, it also accepts a “blank” 18V battery that you fill with your own C-cell sized alkaline batteries.

Cool laser. The blank battery option sounds like something you would expect from Bosch. They take their time to launch tools but when they do they do it right.
Can’t wait to see their 1950 in-lbs impact driver tested as well. And it’s finally got more than 1 LED and quick insert collet!
