The Bosch 12v Flexiclick is on sale again at Amazon for $119 (apply $20 coupon). I bought this last time it was on sale and highly recommend it at this price. I may be biased though as I love the Bosch 12v tools.
I’m a big fan of Bosch 12V Max cordless power tool as well, and the FlexiClick is certainly a useful tool.

Beware working around finished floors and cabinets – the Bosch chuck interlock is not super secure. Quite a few times I’ve been working and damn chuck would just fall off.
The Bosch may still be a better choice than the Milwaukee though, as the Bosch chucks can be adjusted for angle of approach by pulling out as they’re spring loaded. Whereas the Milwaukee is like the festool where you have to unlock lift outward and re-key it in at your desired angle.
You’d be surprised how often you want to change the angle of the chicks if you’ve not been used to using offset and angled drivers.
Also – the Bosch drilling keyless is not that great – hard to get much purchase on a round shank bit

I agree completely with your comment and will add the chuck would fall off with an expensive drill bit still inserted, until the ground met it. Overall, I still love the kit and it has saved me hours of time. Recommend Highly, just keep an eye on the secondary chuck.

I absolutely LOVE mine, and bought a whole bunch more Bosch 12v since.
Only issue I am having is not being able to drill holes with the offset. It lets go off the hex drill bit 90% of the time. I have to contact Bosch :/

I’ve got one, very nice tool. Don’t use it as much as I should, because I’ve also got the “normal” 12v drill and drivers which are my go to tools, even over the more powerful 18v DeWalt brushless drill and driver.

I probably use mine every two months. When I do, it is a lifesaver. I liked it so much I got the drill and screwdriver and OMT. All top notch. When I do not need the special heads, the screwdriver with the clutch is a dream.
This is a no brainier at this price.

M12 tools can be modified to take Bosch batteries, I’ve done it for numerous of them:
– led flashlight
-12 volt jacket supply
– 12volt power supply
– m12 radio
– m12 soldering gun
– m12 hackzall
You have to reverse the polarity inside of the tool, squeeze the contacts together slightly and cut about 3/8” off the bottom of the battery holder.
Never looked into trying to do the opposite though

I got one just to figure this out. I would rather just use all the M12 batteries I have. This gives me a January project 🙂

Tool arrived. The bosch batteries are mirror images of the M12, the wide part of the battery pack is in the front of the handle, not the back. The + and – are swapped, and so are the thermister and 2 balancing tabs. The + and – main tabs are also further apart by a few milometers. It’s going to take some work to mod the bosch tool to take M12 batteries, so it isn’t an afternoon thing.
The way the packs themselves are built is also interesting. The M12 is fully shrouded, while the bosch depends on a piece of foam on the bottom and a sticker for water/dustproofing.
However, the bosch 12v battery and dremel 12v batteries are interchangeable if you swap off the base plate. The base plate comes off with a simple flat blade screwdriver in a few seconds. Snap the other one on, and you can use either pack in either tool. I only used for a few minutes, but I see no issues so far.

Interesting that it looks like the Milwaukee version is almost a copy of the Bosch (as the latter has been around for a couple more years) and it costs considerably more at $230 with a couple of small batteries or $180 as a ‘tool only’…

I have a festool cxs from about 10 years ago with the right angle attachment, etc. I also have a few 12v Bosch tools (drill, driver, screwdriver). Can’t decide if I should abandon the festool and pick up one of these flexiclicks. Anyone have any advice?

You’ll use the offset driver head. Ore than any other. Being able to drill or drive within 3/8-1/2” of a surface really comes in super handy. As you already use Bosch 12, it’s a good buy. More importantly – but their little 12volt led light with the carabiner type hook. BEST work light ever.

I picked up the Milwaukee with the free 6ah battery. Couldn’t resist putting it it a Packout case with Kaizen foam. I like the forward/reverse switch location—keeps me from hitting it accidentally.

I love mine. The extra attachments (particularly right angle and offset) fill a gap for me on the occasional use and the amount of power even without the chuck is great for more delicate fastening. It is awesome for outlet covers and the like. I also bought their 12v impact on eBay as a bare tool and they are my go to set over my 18v Ridgids for most general work. Even though they aren’t brushless, battery life is great.

As a full-time handyman, I use this EVERY day. It’s my main drill/driver combo for indoor work, and it’s been a lifesaver. I haven’t had much use for the keyless drill chuck but it does come in handy (no pun intended) and the offset and right angle heads are mandatory for cabinet work. It’s true about the locking mechanism as more than once the driving head has just…fallen off, like it’s just given up and said “ok, I’m tired now, must nap!” Not a deal breaker though, as it has plenty of torque and when paired with a 4.0ah battery, the damn thing lasts and lasts. Only wish it was brushless, but it’s still a solid performer going on two years now.

The brushless version (GSR 12V-35FC) is available in Europe since last spring.
more power, much faster, shorter head length, lighter and probably better overall ergonomics. same atachments.

It is very easy to swap the flexiclick head on to the brushless drill which is available. Overall it’s cheaper than the European version and you get a bonus drill.

I picked up the Milwaukee version a few months back, shortly after it became available. I’ve been intrigued by the Bosch tool for a while but I really didn’t want to add a sixth battery platform to my stable. As many have said, it was the pull of the offset attachment that really drove me to this purchase and I have found it quite useful at times and I don’t have any complaints.

Same here. I paid more to stay in an existing battery platform and not to have to put up with more chargers and batteries.
I also prefer the brushless aspect, a bit more power, the more positive attachment of the accessories, the magnetic bits, etc.
That being said, $110 is an excellent price. I’m tempted and I already own the milwaukee version.

The 2nd model has been available everwhere else since first quarter 2018 (or was it 2017?). I had my cordless Bosch kit with me the other day and had to run and get my Festool T18 for the eccentric chuck. It would have been nice to have the Bosch right there next to the impact driver.

I almost bought this, however after watching some poser comparisons with the Milwaukee Installer, this is clearly lacking. That said, I do know that with an Installation Driver, power isn’t the main concern. Ergo is more important which is why Milwaukee’s copy of the Festool version, demonstrates an awkward tool to use.
So where does that leave me? Waiting and hoping that Bosch will release the new GSR 12V-35 EC Brushless in the U.S. I know it is doubtful as they never released the previous Brushless version GSR 12V-15.
So if Bosch doesn’t release I’ll probably buy from overseas as I did with the GSR 18 V-EC TE Professional Cordless Drywall Screwdriver. Yep, I over paid but no other else compares. I do realize if I do ever have issues, I’m SOL, but I’ll take that chance.
C’mon Bosch,

I finally went ahead and imported the second generation 18v flexiclick to put in the systainer with my freak 2 and I’m not sure I made a good decision. NAINA Dewalt, Metabo and Makita are mostly OEM stationary tools, euro specific table saws and random grandfathers (Elu and og AEG). Bosch, on the other hand, pretty much keeps most of their core line out of the USA either forever or for half a decade or longer. Oh but how it gets worse…the majority of the new tools they’ve been showing off at trade shows, promising a 2019 release since last winter…..maybe pushed back to March 2020? Cross our fingers? It’s a shame, because their batteries are probably my fav.

The Brushless kit is online from Korea from $125 to $140US.
I’m more interested in the 18V Brushless but it’s nearer $400US.
I have the brushed 12v version and while it’s a tad toylike I only use the offset head and so far so good.
I’ve never had a problem with any high rated overseas Seller but Bosch US simply don’t have the parts if there’s a warranty issue. Regardless of your willingness to pay them.

North Americans get their hot out of the Malaysian plant Korean exclusives via sellers on ebay. There’s a whole niche import market surrounding Bosch goods and Leopold keyboards. The euro/uk stuff we get from Amazon uk and de. Axminster won’t ship Bosch stuff here, last I checked.
