Seriously, Just Buy One: Bosch 50′ Laser Measurer for $35

Bosch GLM 15 Laser Distance Measurer

Bosch’s GLM 15 is a very compact laser measuring tool with 50-foot range. It was reasonably priced at $50, and now that it’s $40 $35, I’m inclined to call it a great buy.

What I like most about the GLM 15 is that it’s small enough to comfortably fit inside a pocket. It’s convenient to have around, and also very user friendly.

On one hand, the Bosch GLM 15 lacks any sort of bells and whistles seasoned laser measuring tool users might want to see on a tool like this. On the other hand, a lot of users don’t need fancy layout, area, and volume measuring features, they simply want to know the distance from one wall to another, or the height from floor to ceiling.

Bosch GLM 15 Laser Distance Measurer Size

I’ve had mine for over a year now – thank you Bosch for the review sample! – and it’s seen some nice use so far. Even with more feature-rich devices at my disposal, I often reach for this one first.

The price has dropped, possibly just for the holiday season, from $50 to $40 $35.

Update: The price is now $35 – even better! It’s unclear as to how long it’ll stay at this price.

Yeah I got two of those (one by mistake) a few weeks ago. Wow, it’s a fun and useful toy.

I bought one when they had all of their models on sale. Turns out after looking, I preferred the simplicity of just the one button.

I actually find its more accurate than using a tape measurer for me because there is no tape to sag in the middle or risk of running it slightly crooked to go around furniture.

    Highly recommended.

Does everyone know about camelcamelcamel.com? Copy the URL from any Amazon product page and paste it into their website search box. Up pops a graph detailing the product’s price fluctuation for the past 18 months.

For the Bosch GLM 15, the current price ($35.39) is indeed an all-time low. The price dropped very briefly to $40 last november (probably for black friday, but the graph doesn’t allow that precise level of view) and then spent the past twelve months fluctuating between $50 and $42.

[You can also set the graph to show the price history for “3rd party sellers”. Here, the Bosch GLM 15 is supposedly now available for $20.49 (!) plus s/h, but if you can figure out who is selling at that price you are smarter than I am.]

Ever since I discovered camelcamelcamel I’ve become a much smarter Amazon shopper.

Yup, and then come back here and click our links to buy it. =)

No need to grab the whole URL, get the ASIN, which in this case is B00LGANH8K.

The price is now down to $35.05. Not bad for something I thought was really worth the $50.

My guess is that it’s an automated price war. There are lots of sellers, even multiple ones shipping through amazon. What usually happens is one of them lowers their price and the competitors tracking software sees that and drops the price of theirs. This goes back and forth until the price hits a minimum set by the sellers or it hits one penny. Currently amazon is hiding the price of the units actually sold by them. I’m guessing their computers saw what was happening and hid the price to stop it from moving any lower. I expect the price will start to creep back up from the $35.01 that it’s at now pretty shortly.

I can recommend these, we have one for measuring centering placement for a/c indoor head units. Simple and accurate. Just one button. Perfect if you don’t need all the bells and whistles.

Price went down to $35, maybe because it’s $39.95 at Lowe’s.

Wondering if this will go even lower for BF.

great tool, one flaw – it does feet and inches (or metric) you can’t do just inches. Bit of a pain for carpenters.

But the accuracy is outstanding. We’ve run trim with it.
