Bosch just released a new video showing their new Power Box 360 enduring some pretty heavy abuse. Not as much abuse as in Ridgid recent jobsite radio torture test, but it’s still pretty serious. We’re talking concrete stadium steps and an aluminum bat.

We reviewed the new Power Box 360 a few months ago – and loved it. We ultimately chose to donate it to Habitat for Humanity intact rather than see how much abuse we could inflict upon it.

These companies need to do these same tests with their other power tools, not just the radios.

Manufacturers do conduct many systematic durability tests behind closed doors. Some companies also send prototypes and early production models into the field with ordinary tradesmen to wrinkle out any problems that lab-testing doesn’t catch.

These videos are meant for marketing purposes, and I imagine are downright fun to make. Regarding the Bosch Power Box 360, it was designed to withstand jobsite drops of up to 10 feet, and I’m sure it has been tested accordingly.

I’m sure that most power tools, or at least pro-grade tools, are typically designed to withstand common bumps and drops.

That other Ridgid video you posted gave me a good laugh.

The testers seemed genuinely surprised by how much abuse that thing could take.

If anything else out there can take that I’d love to see it.
