Hot Deal: 30% Off Excellent Bosch Power Tool Bits, Blades, and Other Accessories

Nov 10, 2015 Stuart 14 Comments

If you buy something through our links, ToolGuyd might earn an affiliate commission.

Over at Amazon, they launched some of their Holiday 2015 tool deals last week, and one of those deals will be expiring soon.

At the surface, Amazon’s Bosch 30% off Accessory Set promo seems like another “up to ##%-off ” promo, where the deals are barely good enough to mention. But looking closer at the product selection and prices, these are actually excellent deals on high quality bits, blades, and other power tool accessories.

This deal ends on 11/15/15, which gives you a few days to mull things over.

I’d buy any of these assortments, and have in the past, except for the entry-level sets that I don’t believe are up to Bosch’s typical standards. I’m a big fan of Bosch power tool accessories, as most are quite good and better than competitors’ offerings (in my experience).

The 30% discount is applied automatically at checkout and applies to these and a couple other accessory sets that are sold and shipped directly by Amazon.

Since there are only 15 accessory sets eligible for the 30% savings, here’s a quick look at all of the better deal options.

I’ll definitely be going through my power tool accessories later today to see if there are any holes that these discounted Bosch sets could fill. Which ones are you interested in?

Bosch 10pc Router Bit Set

Bosch Router Bit Set

You get a mix of 1/4″ and 1/2″ router bits – mostly 1/2″ – and user reviews are looking to be quite good. I’ve had good experiences with Bosch router bits in the past, and wonder if these are influenced or even made for Bosch by Freud.

If you recall, Bosch owns Freud’s power tool accessory business.

I’d buy this bit set without hesitation, if not for my Freud router bit set still going strong.

Bosch 10pc Jig Saw Blade Set

Bosch 10pc Jig Saw Blade Set

This set is as bare-bones as you can get. It comes with what are probably Bosch’s best-selling and most popular blade styles, and you get 2 of each.

I won’t use anything other than Bosch jig saw blades, and tend to prefer larger sets that offer greater variety and a case, but this set’s value is hard to ignore. I might just have to buy one to replenish my larger jig saw blade set.

Bosch 7pc SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer Drill Bit Set

Bosch 7pc SDS Plus Rotary Hammer Drill Bit Set

Just like I won’t use anything other than Bosch blades in my jig saw, you will probably never catch me using anything other than Bosch SDS bits in a rotary hammer. Well, maybe not unless I’m testing out another brand’s bits.

Bosch 8pc Blue Granite Hammer Drill Bit Set

Bosch 8pc Blue Granite Hammer Drill Bit Set

What goes for SDS-Plus rotary hammer drill bits and jig saw blades goes for hammer drill bits as well. I’m a big Bosch accessories fan, and these are the only hammer drill bits I’ll use if given the choice.

Bosch 39pc Impact Tough Screwdriver Bit Set

Bosch Impact Tough Screwdriver Bit Set

I’m sure I have a Bosch impact-rated screwdriver bit set around here somewhere, if not under Bosch branding than under Bosch-made Craftsman branding. I don’t feel strongly in favor or against these bits, but at 30% off, I’d buy this set if the need for some new impact bits arose.

Bosch 18pc Titanium-Coated Drill Bit Set

Bosch 18pc Dirll Bit Set TiN

This drill bit assortment spans 1/16″ to 1/2″ sizes, with duplicates of the 4 smallest sizes. The tips have 135° split points, and the shanks are 3-flat style for reduced slippage.

I have a set of Bosch cobalt drill bits that gets whipped out for heavier duty drilling in harder materials (I mainly use them in a drill press), so I can’t offer any feedback on these. The user reviews on Amazon seem to be overwhelmingly positive.

One thing I can tell you is that Bosch’s accessory set cases are pretty awesome. They’re very durable, quick to open, and bits are easy to retrieve and put away.

Bosch 25pc Bi-Metal Hole Saw Set

Bosch 25pc Bi-Metal Hole Saw Set

It looks like this is one of the largest hole saw assortments that Bosch offers.

Sorry, I don’t think I have ever used a Bosch hole saw, and don’t really have an opinion about this set either way.

Bosch 5pc Clic-Change Screwdriver Bit Assortment and Chuck

Bosch Clic-Change Bit Holder and Screwdriver Bits

I have this same set, which I purchased 3 years ago.

You get a quick-change bit holder, and a couple of starter screwdriver bits. The bit holder has a larger shank and wider bit holder component than most of the other traditionally designed 1/4″ bit holders you’ll come across.

Bosch 6pc Oscillating Multi-Tool Cutting Blade Set

Bosch 6pc Oscillating Multi-Tool Blade Set

This set comes with 6 Swiss-made oscillating multi-tool cutting blades that work with Bosch OSC and other universal-style accessory interfaces.

I am a big, big fan of Bosch’s OMT accessories, especially after seeing how well their carbide blades best competitors’ blades. This set has some nice variety in what you get, plus there’s no “fillers” as larger OMT accessory sets seem to have. No 20 pieces of sandpaper here!

Bosch 8pc Glass and Tile Drill Bit Set

Bosch 8pc Glass and Tile Drill Bit Set

I don’t think I’ve ever used a glass and tile drill bit set, but maybe I should pick this one up, just in case? I do have at least one application coming up, where I want to install a towel bar onto a newly tiled wall.

Is there another brand’s glass and tile drill bits that you guys recommend better?

Bosch 5pc Multi-Construction Drill Bit Set

Bosch 5pc Multi-Construction Drill Bit Set

I’ve posted about Bosch Multi-Construction drill bits before, which are designed for drilling in wood, metal, and masonry materials. They also now make impact-rated Multi-Construction drill bits.

These bits did well in quick tests, but I tend to reach for my other masonry drill bits 100% of the time. Then again, I haven’t had to drill through whatever I wanted to mount to a masonry surface yet, at least not at the same time I’m drilling into the masonry.

The multi bits are great for drilling through plaster, especially old plaster and lathe, which chews up regular bits. Ditto for going through old roofing, the grit on shingles will ruin a good bit. Not that you can’t use a regular bit and re sharpen it, but those things often rough up the flutes, so the holes they drill are a bit ragged. I really like them for instances where absolute precision isn’t necessary, but you don’t know what you’ll hit.

When I first saw “multi-material” bits in 2003 – the ones I bought were made by Joran in Denmark for Irwin. We bought more of the Bosch variety over the years – and used them (as might be expected) for drilling in plaster and stucco.
Irwin still markets something similar – but I’m guessing that the COO might no longer be Denmark:

Thanks for the tip – seems like a great price for those 6 OMT blades compared to what I remember paying last time I bought Milwaukee blades (over a year ago).

Looks like there’s one carbide blade in that oscillating blade set. With my m12 tool I use the very affordable Versa-tool collections you can buy on Amazon etc. for most jobs, but for cutting metal there’s nothing that compares to that carbide blade. I picked up a set of three for $30 on Ebay which was a steal. With one of them i cut through a few pieces of 3/4″ and 1/2″ EMT tubing and it looked like new, and the cut was much better than i can achieve with a hacksaw (and much easier ;). Just be careful not to overheat it.

Whether it’s worth $40 for one of the carbide blades and six other blades that are not substantially better than the Versa-tool blades i can’t say but that carbide blade is awesome… just don’t use it for things it’s not meant to be used for (dry wall, etc.).

I checked the model numbers on the blades and it appears that none of these blades are the carbide blades. It’s still an amazing deal ,if you bought each blade separately on Amazon you would pay over $60 so with the discount you pay about half of that.

Oh looks like you’re right. I thought the blue one was a carbide blade. In that case the 13 piece Versa-Tool set i bought with aluminum case for about $35 is a far better deal, even than this “special”. Pick up that and use it for everything but metal, and buy one carbide blade (looks like you can get single packs on amazon for $15) for metal, and you’re set for a long time.

Thanks for the heads up! These Bosch sets are the bomb.
And I just sprung for several. Both a couple I can use as backup and others for gifts.
The price of admission here is always worth it.
So Happy pre Dark Grey Friday.

This Bosch quick change set is a better deal, it’s been going up and down in price. Was as low as $9.88 now it’s $17, was $15 for a few days, was $13 for a day: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004R9LC

Okay prices, but Lowe’s has lower prices on the Bosch bit/blade/accessory sets they sell, with a different assortment.

Their impact bit set is $12.97, which is 32-piece instead of 39 piece, but if you don’t need those other pieces, you can save some dough.

As far as I know they are all made in China, as are Dewalt, Milwaukee, Irwin and Ryobi bits. Makita gold is made in Japan…not sure about the other Makita bits. I wouldn’t shy away just because they’re made in China, they aren’t Harbor Freight quality.

Bosch’s jig saw blades (at least most of them?) are made in Switzerland, as are many if not all of their oscillating multi-tool blades.

The rotary hammer bits mentioned here are made in Germany, as are the hammer drill bits.

The multi-construction bits are said to be made in Afghanistan (that’s a first I’ve seen), and so I think only the drill bits are made in China.

A lot of Milwaukee reciprocating saw blades are made in the USA, and their newer step drill bits too.

I installed a towel bar on the entrance of our new shower. I used the mult-construction bits mentioned after the glass bits. I had other glass/tile bits (and rotzip w/ tile bit), but the drill bits work great. I also knew I was going into a stud, but nonetheless.

I will be picking up another pack of those bits.

Bosch glass and tile bits work excellent. I haven’t used anything else in the longest time.

Bosch hammer drill and rotary hammer drill bits are the best around.

As far as hole saws go, I use Lenox hole saws for everything except for thick steel when my company’s mag drill isn’t around. When drilling holes in thick steel, I use Milwaukee’s dozer hole saws. Although they don’t seem to cut particularly clean holes, the saws stand up to the heaviest abuse without breaking
