Over at Lowe’s they have what looks to be a really good deal on this Bosch PROFACTOR 18V brushless 1/2″ impact wrench.
The new Bosch PROFACTOR impact wrench, model GDS18V-740N, delivers 740 ft-lbs of max fastening torque, and 1,180 ft-lbs of max breakaway torque.
I think that this definitely qualifies as a good deal on a high-powered impact wrench.
The Bosch PROFACTOR impact wrench features 3 torque and speed settings (0-800/1,200/1,750 rpm) for more controlled power output, an LED worklight, and rubber-encased head.
Bosch was unable to get a review sample out to us in time for this post, and so I cannot speak to its comparative performance, but their cordless impact tools are usually very highly regarded. My favorite impact driver for a long time was a Bosch 18V model.

At the time of this posting, the free gift starter kit is sold out in my region, but with the promo set to last another 6 weeks, I’ll be keeping an eye on things. I would expect for Lowe’s to receive more inventory soon.
Bosch has a good track record for impact tools, and early user reviews seem positive. The value seems extremely hard to beat – $249 seems like a great price for a brand new high-powered impact wrench plus a rapid charger and 8Ah next-generation Li-ion battery.

If the PROFACTOR offer isn’t available in your area yet, or you’re looking for something a little different, also consider the Kobalt XTR 24V Max 1/2″ impact wrench kit.
Although there aren’t any savings here right now, the Kobalt XTR is an excellent high-performing BEAST of an impact wrench. This kit comes with a compact 4Ah battery.
I donated my Kobalt XTR combo kit last year, but couldn’t bring myself to part with the impact wrench, partly because I wanted more time with it, but also because of how impressed I was with its power. This impact wrench – and the Kobalt XTR lineup in general, is worth a closer look.

That’s a darn good deal on the Bosch, and it has nice ratings as well. Also nice that they give you a nice battery in the kit instead of a cheapo. One of my frustrations with many of the specials I’m seeing is that few of them come with higher capacity batteries.
Also, I wouldn’t call this a “high power” impact by any means, but Lowes has marked down the Dewalt “mid range” 1/2-inch impact, DCF894B, to $149. I think at least one of the big online shops has done the same, though most places are still asking $199 and higher.

I am really hoping Bosch will bring us more tools, asap. Because I cannot understand why they’re not trying to sell more products? What is the hold up to bringing more of their full range here to the US?
I was impressed while on the road to see Bosch have a bit more dedicated shelf space and actually have most of the 12v tools in stock. But that of course leaves 3/4 of the other tools unseen and unsold here.

I know they’re just names but really, Bosch at least used to air a sense of no-nonsense professionalism and quality. Just call this newer tech Profactor “x” saw/charger/what-have-you and be done with it.

None of these orphan brands are ‘good deals’ unless you just need one tool. Systems are where it’s at because all the value is in product expansion and battery tech and platform. Price never equates to value but so many posts are simply dedicated to some ‘deal’ which are really not deals at all for these orphaned and brands on life support. If you are not investing in Milwaukee, Ryobi or DeWalt, you may get a low price tool but it will never be a good deal. However, if all you will ever need is an electric drill, buy price.

It really depends on individual needs and preferences.
If I need 5 tools that will each be used roughly 20% of the time, then it’ll likely be best to go with a system.
If I need 5 tools and one of them will be used 40% of the time and the other tools maybe 15% of the time, I’m more likely to seek the best tool I can for the heavily-used tool type, and the others might be part of a different system.
In a workshop setting, it can be beneficial and sometimes cost-effective to go with different systems.
Let’s say you want a high torque impact wrench, but have already bought into other brands’ systems. Maybe you already have a charger but need a new battery. This promo might give you a comparable tool at a lower price, and without much added hassle with respect to having to work with a different charger or battery system.
As a reminder, the reader’s question was about higher-powered cordless impact wrenches, with no mention of any brand preferences.
Some people use a single cordless system exclusively, others are okay buying and using more than just one brand’s cordless power tools. I try to find and share deals and promos that meet both types of users’ interests.

the Bosch 18v lineup doesn’t have the range of Milwaukee or DeWalt (no cordless string trimmers for example) but does have lots for construction and remodeling.
anyway, whatever batteries you have is the lineup you’ll keep

Ordered the kit from the Lowes website on the 21st. Website said it was in stock at mylocal store. Received a confirmation email giving a “estimated” pickup date of the next day. Since it was supposedly “in stock,” I hopped on the bicycle and pedaled over to Lowes the next day. Went to the pickup counter and was meet with a blank stares – we no got…
Later that evening I get a call from customer service. The rep told me that they had the battery and charger in stock, but no impact. He told me it would be weeks – maybe months – before they could get the impact for me. I asked him to hang onto the battery and charger for me and “do your best” to get the impact.
Moments later I received an email from Lowes cancelling my order for the impact and confirming my order of the battery and charger, but charging me $239.81 for the “freebie” battery & charger. Needless to say, that is a “no deal.” Not paying $239 for the kit “freebies” without the impact.

Received an email today from Lowes letting me know that the GDS18V-740N was back in stock, so I clicked on the provided link only to discover the the impact was available with free shipping, but not the started kit. WTF…
Clicking around on the site, I discovered that, while the “starter kit” wasn’t available for free shipping, it was available for pick-up at my local store.
So, I’ve got the battery and charger and should have the GDS18V-740N shipped to me in about four days.
The $249 price is about half the cost of buying the GDS18V-740N, battery and charger separately, so, seems like a good deal even if I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get it…

Finally received my GDS18V-740N from Lowes yesterday and WOW – this thing is a beast!
With the 8 Ah battery attached it weighs a hair over 8.6 lbs! Use this every day and you’ll develop some massive forearms…
